- I explain my thoughts on scroll compressor discharge superheat. This is the difference between discharge line temperature and condenser saturation.

I can't tell you how valuable this is. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!

In this field, heat concept is everywhere
Anything over 225 degrees the oil starts to breakdown too. Good indication of failing valve plates on a recip
Did you have proper subcooling?! It’ll be interesting to know.
Awesome tech tip thanks

Trane RTHD uses discharge superheat as a very important value, you may know the term "heartbeat" well
Nice one
11:30pm
Mineral oil breaks down at 270’F
Internal valve plate temp is 100’F hotter than discharge
line
225’F line is = 325’F valve plate
THIS IS OVERTEMP for valve plate and motor winding and oil.
Check for line restriction
Check for poor condenser air flow
Check for rotted fins
Would compression ratio be another measurement to take ?
Compression ratio is worth notating depending on what your analyzing. Higher ratio will typically mean higher superheat.
