Mayflies were one of my favorite insects to learn about as a kid. Something about their big eyes, triangular wings, and cerci make them look like the living embodiment of a cartoon bug.
Naiads are going to remain relatively similar in form as they develop aside from wing pads developing and such as they approach their subimago stage. Naiads of different species can look very different, but different instars of the same species are often quite similar.
@ for a start, taking EPT to species level is going to be a task. Cataloging and mapping populations yet another. It would be nice to determine instar along the way. Thanks for your advice on this and my other post. Once the ice clears out, I’ll be back.
I though I was having one of the Egypt's plague! It was mayflies by millions!
Haha luckily for us theyre harmless! But those swarms are intimidating 😂
love this video, thank you!
No problem! thank you for the support!
Having hats on your eyes made out of more eyes is wild.
I hope evolution just keeps adding hats

Oh that's awesome! Thank you for the support and glad the video made its way onto your timeline. Best of luck with the research! 🙌
You should do notoptera or even just ice crawlers
Oh def on the list - we'll be getting into the more obscure orders soon enough
Great video😊
Thank you! 😄
How do you identify naiads to species while they are developing? That is to ask, do they physically remain identical aside from growth?
