Cerniglia's sister has insisted that taking part in the show did not adversely affect her brother. "He really liked Gordon and the show was great," she said. "The show was also great for business. It really helped tremendously. There are no hard feelings at all from our family to Gordon Ramsay, who is a wonderful man. His behaviour on the show was played up for the cameras."

If you watch the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon is a totally different person. He actually joins in on the pranks and tomfoolery. By the time the American version of Kitchen Nightmares came around, he was suddenly much more serious. It seems that American Television turned him into an asshole, as a means of boosting ratings. It is quite unfortunate.

It's really sad that the suicide rates for people in the hospitality/food industry have been on the rise since 2016. It really didn't hit the spotlight as being a known problem until Anthony Bourdain took his own life. Kat Kinsman started a group/site called Chefs With Issues, and having been a chef for most of my working life, its been a major lifesaver for myself and a lot of the other chefs I've worked with.
Take care of yourselves, folks. It's worth it.

      @rocketbilly ปีที่แล้ว

@@chuyuen441 I wish I had verifiable answers for that. All I can really offer is what I've noticed from my 15 years of being a chef and working in kitchens.
Being a chef isn't sunshine and daisies. Its hard, it is exhausting, and it can be really unrewarding at times. It can and probably will kill your social life.
Most of all it is incredibly stressful. Stressful mentally *and* physically. I have seen what this industry can do to people, its why I left it before it completely destroyed my body.
And there's a lot of us who still love it, mind. I still miss it every day.
On top of that, restaurant workers in general have the highest incidences of alcoholism and the third-highest drug abuse rate amongst all professions. That has its own issues that they throw into the already complex, bubbling stew that is a human.
Maybe its just more noticed thanks to social media, sites like youtube or reddit.

The restaurant business can grind people to dust. I worked at a country club at 18 and went from being a waiter to learning in the kitchen. Getting screamed at by the chef, time stresses and working long hours was brutal. We had an amazingly kind sous chef Kenny who was around 59. One day we couldn't find him until someone saw him in the walk in freezer dead. He literally had a massive heart attack and died. I realized then I did not want that kind of life and went back to college.

When it comes to suicide, what people don't know or realize is the person who commits' this act has had thoughts about it for quite sometime before it actually happens, it's not something most people do out of haste or because they've been criticized by Gordon Ramsey, the way Joe felt on the inside was starting to reflect on the outside, his restaurant was a good indication of that. In the end the poor guy was left with more debt than happiness. His death was symbolic for how his life was drowning in debt. R.I.P Joe

My 2nd attempt was back in 1997 I tried to hire at hit man to take myself or have me disappear: because, I didn't want to leave a mess behind. I looked into getting a gun buck I didn't like the thought of that.
It's hard to share this. I still struggle with these thoughts and feelings. However, I have gotten Very Good therapy over the years. I also know where some of these feelings came from. Short of Gordon standing on the bridge and pushing Joe down it, there is no reason to even hint that Gordon has "bullied him" into suicide. Especially after pointing out prior, how well Joe did because of Gordon and that he has thrived since the show...
Beside, Joe was a grown man and he would have killed himself much sooner, since he was so much in debt. So if anything, Gordon should be awarded a medal for prolonging that troubled man's life.
We have to stand up for our life choices and take responsibility, don't you dare to shift the blame on others for your shortcomings.

There’s supposed to be safe haven laws now but so many people fear being arrested that it’s exactly why they won’t call to get someone help after they’ve OD’d.
That’s how my father in law died earlier this year. He had fentanyl poisoning & collapsed on the floor. He could’ve easily been saved with Narcan but the guy with him was scared & left him there. But the chef hid from him that the drinking was more serious until it was too late. Gordon pointed out that if he had known it was that serious, he would've taken a different and more gentler approch. And he recommended the chef to quit the business and take care of himself. The chef later said in interviews that Gordon booked him into therapy and he is now sober thanks to that. It’s gross how the media used Joe’s suicide to rip apart his personal life after he passed. They are in his personal business, but yet most who show the face of alleged criminals. Total mockery. Rest in peace, Joe. ❤

Went there in ‘09, two years after the episode aired and as good as the food was, the service was still very slow despite the place only being half full. Didn’t really bother me, but others were getting noticeably antsy.

and what this guy means about "trash newspapers making a false narratives" is how dare they report the fact that Joe's mistress told them that they were having an affair before the show even started… What he basically means is "fuck people who talk shit about cheaters because I am a cheater…"

How do you get charged for being under the influence of narcotics when you’re in your own private property? It wasn’t very clear where he was, but if it was in his own restaurant or house, that makes absolutely zero sense.

14:00 Nope. According to his widow, Jessica is the reason why they separated. He was already with her, he just made their relationship public when he was separated. There was also the hope of reconciliation, which Joe pretty much destroyed by shacking up with a girl 12 years younger than him.

That old woman was a typical Karen how are you going to say that about anything Gordon had a hand in just unbelievable. My son and his wife at at a restaurant called Hells Kitchen it was at a casino in Connecticut said it was the best food he ever had. He said he had the steak dinner said the steak melted in your mouth. Just can’t understand why this woman would complain about the food.

The fact that Ramsey’s name is even associated with this is completely ridiculous.
To think he used the Hudson River as a metaphor for his business means Ramsey was also part of Sully’s plane landing too.

The guy is right about one thing, though. Gordon should not be dressing him down in front of the customers. Anywhere but the main dining area would be better for giving the guy feedback. Gordon may be 💯% right in what he is saying. But, definitely the wrong place to be saying it.

Sending tipped staff home to cut costs is like throwing a lawn chair off the Titanic 😂 ive worked in restaurants where managers would do this as they would purposely overstaff to ensure a full crew and send home employees who scheduled their entire day around working just to be told to go home. It's a good way to lose your staff.
