In this one, i'm drawing Ruby in my style and discussing some things about her, with some funky extras starting to creep in...
This speedpaint was the first one i recorded for the series, i didn't know what i was doing yet. Fitting, since this episode is mostly setup for later discussion parts.

I always assumed that Ruby's Semblance was meant her deep wishes and emotions such as "Being fast enough to catch up to her mother, being fast to save someone, to be a hero."
Also I LOVE how you added more details on Ruby's character such as inner insecurities about her mom and feeling eclipsed by Yang, which is an interesing symbolism with the whole golden and silver.
And I totally support AroAce Ruby! Her only true love are weapons and cookies!

About the red trailer though, I think the context of her making herself sad on purpose just to test out some features of her weapon is a really cool idea,, and since the red trailer is meant to be like the first glimpse into RWBY and tackles only the most basic concepts and ideas, it could probably go waaaay at the beginning? Like right maybe before or after Salem and Oz's intro thingy? Cause I don't think it would take place anywhere after unless it's just after volume 3,,,

@Rose-the-fox hmmm, having red trailer, then title card instead of the silhouettes it ends on normally, then Salem monologue, cutting to start of IQ take on ep 1 with Ruby again at Summer's grave, but now it's warm, immediately answering "what the fuck that was" questions from the cold open
