The sad thing is that in many cases the husband and inlaws make the educated, smart girl leave her job ,stay home ,look after family and kids and house. Then after years of being the maid you shamed and seen as an uncontributing member in the family because you are financially dependent on them. Sometimes even the kids grow up and ask why you never worked and earned money to give them a better life. There is no respect or gratitude. Very sad.
Whether you work inside or out the house women are a vital part of a home. Appreciate and Respect your mum, grandmother's, daughters in law. Namaste 🙏

My wife is a super person. We've been married for 44 years now and I adore her. She is more responsible than I, has a happy gene, does the chores diligently and never complains of her needs. I feel blessed. We both lead healthy lives, travel a lot and enjoy outdoors. No responsibilities now, so on weekends, we enjoy a shot of whisky. We take care of our teenage grand daughter. We go on pilgrimage and as well as visit multiplex theatres to enjoy movies. We are aged mid 70s.

In fact, housewife is in reality a house-manager, and according to an old study, all the work done by any house-manager costs, i.e. CTF [cost to family] Rs, 50000/ p.m. This doesn't include the cost of care, love and affection bestowed by her on each family member! But alas! who cares -- wife taking care of house & family is just the so-called "housewife." In fact, her dedication for family is self-less & immensurable in every aspect. That's why she is called Devi -- mother, sister, wife, and companion.

Fine video. No one should refer to / introduce a married woman managing home as "just a housewife", including women themselves. Women who manage a home (married or while single) are truly "home-makers" and are not appreciated and respected enough for their role in the family. Good to see an FIL stand up for his DIL. Wish MILs too did the same. That would really change our patriarchal society over time. Just one issue I had with the clip, when the wife in the end said her husband needn't help her with household chores, just love her. A husband should share the household responsibilities his wife to the extent possible, even if his wife is a home-maker. Only then men will get to know how tough it is to manage a home. Besides, in modern times both husband and wife have a job / career and add to the family income, so why not share responsibilities too equally ?

@@anushaiyer2487 Well, even home-maker or stay-at-home women have their hands full tending to their elderly in-laws, kids, and husband, as theirs is a 24x7 role as DIL, mother, and wife. Husband should try to help with chores to ease the stress on wife, and to learn to manage in her absence, if the need arises. In many conservative communities / families menstruating women aren't allowed into the kitchen for 'those' days, when the elderly MIL ends up filling in for the DIL. A husband who can handle some household chores can ease the stress on his mother in such times. It all depends on circumstances though.

That's a reality check but what about people like me who is working... Waking up early made breakfast, lunch(5person in my case) , wash clothes (washing machine probably), dry them out, cleaning floors (jhadu, pocha), washing utensils then pack everything ( husband and own lunch, goes to office, come back,serve lunch to others, giving bath to baby then wash his clothes, then make tea, iron clothes.... Wash utensils, made dinner clean up everything..... Wash utensils.... Make bed.... Put baby sleep.... Warm water and milk for everyone.... And also spend 70 percent of your income around 30 k every month of these people which is so called family and the rest 25 saving and the 5 percent on your needs and accidental expenditure......

And what more they earn well but you never know how much.... Because being a bahu you don't deserve to know.... Your parents concern about your situation but they can't do anything.... This type of family is your kisamat... Your husband.... Even roommate is more concern... He is a machine when it comes to you... He just talk when he needs food, drink or something else... Otherwise he is on phone watching Netflix and hotstar..... He had fun life with friends and major discussions with his own blood related family(mother, father, sister). He only shower his love to his baby when he peacefully sleeping or playing..... And what about me is padhi likhe kamau free naukrani..... Which cannot breath without their permission..... Life for me when I reached at office and end there which greatly suffered with their interference too...

The glaring loophole in these kind of episodes is that a son learns from his father. If he is sexist, it is because he learnt by watching his dad treating his mom similarly.
If his father is as nice as they are showing here, then the son wouldn't be like that in the first place.

For people who are arguing against this. Let's see why I don't buy into the father in law character. He literally is also just sitting and reading newspaper and drinking tea that his daughter in law is making instead of doing something useful (which proves that he is also used to sitting and letting his wife do everything when she was alive.)
His argument to make his son realize the value of his daughter in law is that if she decides to leave then the maid will cost us much more and 1/3rd of your salary will be spent on that.
This narrative is extremely harmful and is perpetuating gender stereotype that a wife and mother are actually good replacements for a maid and hence we should treat them nicely.
What if the wife falls sick and cannot do the work any longer? Is she not of any value then? Will she be discarded then?? (because now they need both a maid and a nurse to take care of her?)
I know you guys mean well while making these kind of videos but this is seriously harmful and by the time women realize how dangerous this narrative is for their own well-being, it is already too late!
