If you’re in the Hudson Valley or even NYC, Mount Peter is a phenomenal beginner and family mountain. Not necessarily a park riders mountain but if you want to learn to ski, or enroll your kid in the race program, this is the spot to go. When you ride mountains like Keystone, Squaw, etc. yeah, it doesn’t compare …. But for a privately owned family mountain, it’s top notch if you’re local. Have been skiing there since I learned how to ski at 3.

I find Mount Peter to have it's charm. It's small, it's family owned, and is great for brushing up your skills at the beginning of the season before going to bigger resorts.
Hey Johnathan, I used to ski at mt Peter back in 2016, because I live near New York City and it is the closest thing, and if you look at an older trail map of the area, where the quad is currently, there used to be a double which they removed for the quad (in I think 2018 but I could be wrong) and also removed the terrain park that used to be on the skier/border’s right side of the mountain or the left side of the trail map.

With the lift ticket you have to take in account New York state property taxes are generally higher than out west so it's not their fault. Also it's known for a great place to learn, they have some great instructors at a very reasonable price.

I can walk here from my house. Its good for kids and beginners, like you said. There's really only 3 short trails...1 green, 1 blue and 1 black...that's it. No terrain park...

I am on the race team there and the program is amazing. A lot of the high school programs train there too.
My school ski club goes there. Im way above it but its fun to mess around with friends

Honestly giving it a 6 for ease of access is very low score. If you live any where around nyc, any ski hill that is less then 1.5 hr away is an automatic 10 Lol The reason anyone would go there is because it’s close by and if you want a smaller hill for family/learning

This guy honestly doesn’t know how to rate east coast ski resorts being that he is def not a local, just being good at snowboarding doesn’t automatically make you qualified to rate areas that you are not familiar with. How can you rate low for lack of snow? It’s one hr from NYC, we are not Colorado bro

Why are Americans so anti the safety bar on chairlifts?
Last winter I work for North Star (vail resorts) in Lake Tahoe CA and americans don’t like to do what u ask for do it. I mean they think in I can go with the bar up becose under my responsability I am seafty. And then w we have a lot of accident’s
I think it's way more of a west coast thing.
On the East coat, just in a blink of an eye, it can get windy. If the chairlift stops, your bodies momentum goes forward. Put the bar down.
I think it’s more of a snowboarder thing than American thing. It just makes the ride so much more uncomfortable and it’s already safe
