or maybe, they simply can't do it. This woman has natural strong connection in her chest voice down to the lowest of her range in this video. Most other female singers can't do that bcuz their voices usually were built to project & support higher notes better. or they can, but in the expense of pushing down their larynx & creating tension.
Andreanata Noivan I knew it! lol. The altos made up names for ourselves since we have to switch with the tenors sometimes or support them in certain phrases. The alto 1s are the tenorettes and the alto 2s are the bassanos
To add that Ramin’s not even professionally trained and can’t read music. His chest voice is okay, belts are unbelievable and falsetto is absolutely angelic, but getting up into higher ranges like Valjean’s “took my FLIIIIIIGHT” break him.
Don't compare these ladies. They are best in their own genres of singing. And no doubt Barbara's belting has been technically approved by many critics.Villemin is good enough.
You really have to. I've seen gmher four times (easy since I live in Vienna) and she truly astonished me and the people I went with. That's vocal masterclass to say the least
@@leni3152 I lived close to Oberhausen and I remember how disappointed I was when Tanz der Vampire was replaced by Wicked in 2010. There was a little Willemijn mania among the musical fans I knew back then and like usual if someone or something is hyped like that I'm kinda anti. I thought she couldn't be that good, but I also had to give Wicked a chance. Willemijn got me the moment she started to sing The Wizard and I. I don't know how often I saw Wicked with her - stopped counting at 12 😂 I saw her in other musicals as well and I've been to concerts. Always perfection. She never disappointed. Not once. When it was announced she'd be Mrs. Danvers it was a dream come true - I really hoped she'd do it one day. Needless to say I booked a flight to Vienna already and I plan to go more than once this year. Can't miss this opportunity ^^
What.the.hell. God? God can I please sing like that? God : "Her voice is not even from this heaven, it's from another heaven. I can't help you sry" 😂 WOW this woman is so talented and I hate the fact to know that untalented singer or just people without any talent are much more famous than her. That makes me just.. ARRRRRGGGHH😂❤️
This has been answered, but that’s from the Thun, Switzerland production of Elisabeth back in 2006! Elisabeth is a really great show that I’d recommend to everyone! The costumes in the Thun production were a bit odd though… especially the one that Der Tod wears… Willemijn is great though!
Ok so consistent support range of E3-D5/Eb5-G#5 with good stamina & breath control? She's queen! a great vocalist definitely & have almost the same supported range as Gaga. I'm curious of her fach, she sounds like a mezzo.. Are you gonna just do broadway singers? If not I hope you'll consider Jeffrey Lewis? He's a beast but sadly doesn't have a single video about his vocal range :(
Could you do one of these for Taylor Louderman? (I'm not sure if I spelled her last name right, but the lady who plays Campbell from Bring It On and Regina in Mean Girls.)
Well here I am commenting again! I sent this video to a friend of mine (because it is such a cool video) who studied musicology and understands music a lot better than I do (I cannot really read musical notation lol) and I would swear Willemijn sings the lowest notes at the harmony 'I do believe I have been changed for the better' at 2:19. But this friend pointed out that Glinda usually sings the lower notes in this harmony. (Although this performance doesn't sound like a normal performance). Can anyone help me out? Who is singing the lowest note here? And if it is Willemijn/Elphaba then why is it different than usual?
Okay first of all this is amazing and secondly: can anyone tell me where I can find the full video (or only the audio) Sinn für still that is on 11:44?? I only know a very poor quality video but this looks goooood and I want to listen to the better quality
K everyone, hand in your passes. Nobody's allowed to sing B4 anymore, it belongs to Willemijn now! Edit: Forget it, sis owns the whole damn scale. I quit 😂
I’m super late, but yes! A full version does exist (to my knowledge) It’s from December and Dominique Aref, DMJ, and Mathias Edenborn were also on that night! It’s quite shaken, but it’s pretty cool
Is there any way you could link me to the part at the beginning of the video where it's just the ensemble singing at the end of defying gravity? I would love to use it in a recording. I'll give credit for sure!
Never ever heard her sing a bad or dodgy or even kind of wobbly note. Such a hard worker!
It's Wille-uh-mine Ver-kaik btw :)
@Sarah Hamilfan really I watched ppl pronounce her name and the W sounded like a V. I'll fix it
Sarah Hamilfan What?! have you heard her say her own name? I've never heard the 'w' sound when she's said it ever. What are you talking about?
@Sarah Hamilfan that's a beautiful breakdown!

Those aren’t even low though? I can hit a C3
Chloe Genevieve C3 is considered pretty low already for mezzos. By standard, C3 is an ideal low range for tenor.
Andreanata Noivan I knew it! lol. The altos made up names for ourselves since we have to switch with the tenors sometimes or support them in certain phrases. The alto 1s are the tenorettes and the alto 2s are the bassanos

*We stan such a stunning singing sister*
You look beautiful. ❤❤❤❤❤
Also I keep seeing her as Rebeca Furguson in The Greatest Showman
David C so happy I’m not the only one who sees the resemblance 🙊
This was in my recommended for a few days now, and I kept thinking it was rebecca ferguson until I read the title.
They really look similar!
SAME
Wow i had never even heard of her!!! The fact that she is not world famous is a crime!
Well she isn't from an English-speaking country... So yeah. (I mean people not from North America aren't even as well known as the Americans)
She is world famous.
Her final Wicked performance especially the finale of Defying Gravity was *BEYOND THIS WORLD!* 💖💖
My favourite Elphaba, she makes me proud to be Dutch! Awesome compilation!
Jessie Lim yesss I’m Also dutch!!!
Jessie Lim I’m Dutch too ^^
Me too
Yes me too! Another Dutchie here
In-fucking-sane! For a mezzo soprano to belt A5's and even reach anywhere near that damn 6th Octave is epic!
I'm a soprano and I can barely belt an A5 or reach the 6th octave to save my life. My range is only G3-A5 so I'm well....normal
she's an absolute inspiration and a master class vocalist. love her.
Her head voice makes me want to cry (tears of beauty)
I've never heard of her but I'm glad I have now because wow she's so talented omg
Never heard of her?! She is one of the biggest musical stars!!!
nothing but respect for MY elphaba thropp
Sustained Eb3-G#5-C#6 impressive. And I heard one recording where she was hitting C3 or B2, I don't exactly remember anymore...impressive!
Willemijn Verkaik, a true vocal athlete. I hope she gives master classes! Thanks for posting this, very enjoyable to say the least.
Now this, this is beautiful.
I'm in love with this woman.
I’m pretty sure she voices Elsa in Dutch and German in Frozen
It's true, but she only sings Elsa in the German version

Love Ramin!
Vastly more West End, than Broadway.

Fun fact: Willemijn Verkaik was actually the Dutch singing voice of Erika in "Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper."
