We hade the same system other brand years. Living in Sweden. Saving money that for sure. 18kw solar. 15kw battery. That in combination with electric car is perfect.
Tesla Powerwalls have a built-in grid isolation system that enable you to continue to use your solar power in the event of the grid going down - at least the ones they sell in the UK does.
We bought our system from Franklin. Two 13.6kw batteries and 47 solar panels. Only 15 panels are tied to the batteries so as not to overcharge them. This system also has the storm warning feature to make sure the batteries are charged, a time of use feature if you have different rates for high use periods and self consumption that allows me to only use the solar panels and the batteries to supply power to the house even though we are still tied to the grid. I can also set how much of the battery is utilized before switching back to the grid to save power incase of and outage. Right now I have it set to go all the way down to 10% of capacity.
The reason for switching off the feed-in system in the event of a problem with the power grid is that the technician who is trying to repair the line could be killed by the power being fed in. However, there are switchover boxes in Europe that switch to stand-alone operation in the event of a grid failure, offering the best of both worlds.
Wow, flying all way to down to CA just to showcase this power solution! I hope the Anker company appreciates your efforts you went through to showcase their product!

I am super confused we live in Spain in the country. I have a Victron inverter with grid, solar, batteries and a generator. We do not need any special gear when we lose grid. We have the victron set to use 50 W of the grid all day and when we do not produce enough solar or have any storage left it uses grid. If the grid goes down, we are on Solar and storage. If the storage hits 20% our generator starts and charges the batteries back to 90%. We did not need any of this stuff. Sounds like you have 3 inverters in this setup and it’s a huge waste of money. Also that house has a 2.4KW draw? So the storage is good for 4-4.5 hours?
@martin thanks for this great video. Does this support two solar systems? I have one microinverter setup and a tesla solar system. Can this feed two PV sources?
Ini sih bukan play play… bukan mainan anak kecil 😂 Kalo sudah pakai power wall udah another next level… Kalo di banding punya tesla bagus mana pak martin?
Tesla Powerwall has been doing this for nine years. I agree it is nothing new. Lots of vendors have been doing this for years. It is known as AC coupling.
Right, this is being advertised like there is something new and innovative here. Hybrid inverters are not new. Solark and EG4 seem to be doing this already and are likely way cheaper and DIY friendly.
All very nice except the price for the iron is hidden. And suppose you want 18 kW inverter output, you need three inverters and if 60 kW batteries, then you would have say 12 battery modules or 4 per inverter stack. It is a little unclear in this arrangement if a singe inverter can draw from all 12 batteries if load is lower or the inverters are always balancing the load among the three of them and drawing the batteries down equally. Too bad the inverter is so small. Two 6 stack batteries on 10kW inverters would be very nice.
Now if you just didn't have to take out a second mortgage or give up your first born kid to get a system that would run a home for a couple days. Doesn't matter the brand. Most are cost prohibitive for the average person.

Nice solar array but a poor choice for an inverter. High-frequency, transformerless inverters like this Anker system offer a much shorter life expectancy, a poorer surge capacity, and they can damage your appliances when their MOSFETs fail. You would have been far better off investing in a low-frequency transformer-based inverter charger. Low-frequency, iron core, transformer-based inverter chargers offer a far longer life expectancy and a much higher surge capacity than low-cost, lightweight, high-frequency, transformerless inverters, and are a far safer choice for powering your home's appliances. That's why all US-made inverter manufacturers are built using high-reliability, low, frequency, transformer-based inverter technology.
Anker? Are you kidding? I would never wire any manufacturers high frequency, output transformerless inverter into my home's electrical system. For one, high frequency inverters offer a relatively poor surge capacity which is needed for starting high inductance loads such as refrigerators, power tools, microwaves and air conditioning units. You might be able to start and run some high surge loads when these high frequency inverters are new, but every time you fire up one of those inductive loads, you're shortening the life of the MOSFETs in these inverters. Second, because there is no iron core, copper wound output transformer to provide galvanic isolation in these inverters, All it would take is for the AC output monitoring circuitry to fail and one of the MOSFETs in the inverter's H-Bridge circuit to short to ground, and this cheap high frequency inverters can send dangerous, high voltage, high amperage DC current straight to your AC appliances which can not only damage your appliances. but can also set your appliances on fire. That's why no American inverter manufacturer uses high frequency inverter tech in their designs. And third. because these high frequency inverters operate at a much higher, stepped up DC voltage and a much exponentially higher frequency than more reliable, low frequency inverters, they tend to have a much shorter life expectancy. No thanks, not in my home.
