When a king or a lord needs to punish someone and they have a castle, they make dungeons. This has evolved into what it is now. Dwarven mines. Most of those dungeons have been created to hide or guard something. Some are natural, many could be magically made. But all in all. A dungeon is used for prisoners and punishment.

Mind Flayer's are kind of wild because if you take into account their lore and history (check Spelljammer) they're literally not from this world, but instead come from an evil intergalactic empire.

But.....where does Ao play the role with all the Primordials ? Isn't he an Overgod, an entity that is able to reshape fate of any single creature in the Multiverse ? Including powers themselves ?
If you read here forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Ao Asgorath is said to be a female and Ao was the one who created the twin worlds. Extract from the website: During the Days of Thunder when the Batrachi were losing their war against the Titans, they performed a powerful summoning ritual and released several primordials from their ancient prisons. The gods quickly moved against their ancient foes, and those battles caused the worldwide catastrophes that destroyed the batrachi civilization. A primordial known as "Asgorath the World-Shaper", determined to destroy the world if she couldn't control it, threw an ice moon at the planet, creating the Sea of Fallen Stars. This event was known as the Tearfall. Before the world was completely destroyed, Lord Ao intervened and sundered the original world of Abeir-Toril into two twin worlds, Abeir and Toril, giving the former to the primordials and the latter (the original world) to the gods, ending the conflict.

Rhexx, this one was awesome. I didn't have any idea about this creation myth, and it's super interesting to compare this myth to those of the Dragonborn and the Sarrukh records and myths about "the changing of the stars"; There is also the Dawn War and the first Sundering myths. I wonder what role Io and later Bahamut and Tiamat play in all of this, taking into account that they're gods, not Primordials. Once again, extremely interesting video, Rhexx, please keep it up.

They most likely died out, except for the ones who are now liches, or they have long departed into other realms. This is how DnD handles most old powerful races, the Sarrukh would still rule the entire planet with their knowledge of magic if they hadn't found a way to destroy themselves. Everything the elves built and know about magic came from just trying to decipher what the Sarrukh knew about magic and their myth says they were taught directly by the World Serpent. The Yaun-ti are most likely a servant race, that has tried to step into the Sarrukh's shoes after they all disappeared, otherwise the Yaun-ti would be way more powerful, but if they were a servant race, the Sarrukh wouldn't elevate them to be their equals in knowledge.
