- Tuvalu Language Week runs from 25 September to 1 October 2016.
This year’s theme is ‘Ulu kite fatu e malu ei koe’ which translates into ‘shelter in the rock for your safety’.
Marama T-Pole went along to the annual Tuvalu Choir competition - an important event that maintains the language within the community...
Nice video. Thanks heaps. :D
Sounds like speaking Samoan in a Tongan accent
I can understand it and would have to say it is 80%- 90% close to Sāmoan. Which means Tuvaluan is not hard to learn at all.
Nearly the same with samoan language
Im samoan and im 90% understand 🤣🤣
It's weird because I'm tongan and I can hear some tongan words but also samoan words also😂although they pronounce their words and the intonation is more tongan. It's a language if samoan and tongan mixed into one😂
Samoan used to sound like tongan with the hard t but now with the soft t it's very distinct
The people speaking in this video speak the Southern Island dialects which is closer to Samoan, the Northern dialects are closer to Tongan😅 And one island speak a dialect very similar to Kiribati, which the other Tuvaluans don’t understand unless you can speak I-Kiribati language then you can understand them, but they can also speak our dialects too.😅 It’s pretty complicated but if only they had a video showing the different dialects of Tuvalu, it would be nice!
Sounds like a mixture of Tongan and Samoan languages
The words are similar to samoan
nice
Bruh it is sooo similar to samoan
Tena a teno tuvalu
So this how Tongan think we samoa sound like.
Tuvalu 😂😂😂
