This is honestly one of my favorite parts of the game. It provides a little light-hearted comic relief when the game is out of hand. I hope they don't ban position players from pitching.
They probably will eventually because the officials hate fun haha. But that’s why the Savannah Bananas are so popular because it’s not always so serious.
They forgot about when Anthony Rizzo struck out Freddie Freeman and everyone started laughing and when Dee Strange-Gordon hit Travis d’Arnaud with a pitch and d’Arnaud fell down on purpose and everybody started laughing
If memory serves I think Charlie Culberson was actually the "emergency" catcher when he was on the Braves. They needed someone to be on the list in case one of the other 2 catchers went down and Charlie volunteered. Apparently he did some catching for bullpen sessions previously. And he also made one of the greatest outfield throws ever.
How can Chris Davis getting the win and striking out prime Adrian Gonzalez not be in this video? That was peak position player pitching!! Like I get that happened in a 17 inning game that was tied 6-6 when he entered the game, but still, just ridiculous to not include it.
It was obviously a long time ago, but on television, I once saw Wade Boggs come in and pitch for the Yankees. I think it was extra innings. I can't remember him pitching poorly or not, but it sure was funny to see him on the mound. ✌
hanser alberto for the Dodgers 10 appearances 10 games finished 1.18 whip. the closer krumble 63 appearances 47 games finished 1.31 whip. Alberto>Kimbrel
They tend to be uncomfortable on the mound because it’s literally higher up. They’re not used to the height difference. Most of them get going pretty well if they have a bunch of time to warm up and get used to it, but it’s usually a blowout already so it’s not good manners to take forever getting ready
Like all of these clips are from the end of blowout games. Strategy wise it's to close out a game that basically no longer matters without using one of their pitchers for whatever reason (could be so they dont tire for future games, could be to hide new strategy). It's also just kind of fun to see someone strike out looking at a 40 mph ball
Because it's so specialized. Over the decades pitchers have decided to focus entirely on pitching, not defense or offense. So when a non-pitcher pitches it's a big deal
Forgot about the best one ever! The Mariners Torrens pitched a great inning and was the first position player to collect a win in history
disappointed torrens didn't get the spotlight he deserved
yeah!
Didn't Chris Davis get a win
When did this happen?
Many positions players have gotten wins before. Look up Brett Mayne in 2000 braves vs Rockies. Great game
Garret Stubbs for the Phillies striking someone out on a 83 mph pitch was awesome 😂 he set him up
Aww, I miss seeing him in our dugout.
@@R2robot as a HUGE Astros fan, I also miss him
This is honestly one of my favorite parts of the game. It provides a little light-hearted comic relief when the game is out of hand. I hope they don't ban position players from pitching.
Let’s Go Astros!!! 🤍🧡💙🤘
They probably will eventually because the officials hate fun haha. But that’s why the Savannah Bananas are so popular because it’s not always so serious.
Go stros
Very true my friend
Baseball is the only sport besides tennis and golf to be boring enough to need comic relief 😂
5:32 he's walking to the ump like he's gonna get checked for sticky stuff lmao
the fact that the announcers still went wild when ohtani almost homered off of a position player 💀
The ohtani dickriding is insane honestly.
It would’ve been his 100th home run
Its the Angels. They dont have much else to be excited about
Not much to be excited about when the Angels miss the playoffs so often XD
Alright come one. It's their job to be excited at every electric play
They forgot about when Anthony Rizzo struck out Freddie Freeman and everyone started laughing and when Dee Strange-Gordon hit Travis d’Arnaud with a pitch and d’Arnaud fell down on purpose and everybody started laughing
After that both Freddy and Anthony got traded
If memory serves I think Charlie Culberson was actually the "emergency" catcher when he was on the Braves. I’ll never forget Albert and Yadi getting to pitch and they both gave up homers gonna miss em
How can Chris Davis getting the win and striking out prime Adrian Gonzalez not be in this video? That was peak position player pitching!! Like I get that happened in a 17 inning game that was tied 6-6 when he entered the game, but still, just ridiculous to not include it.
I saw the first clip when it happened. Had to text my friend who's a huge Brett Phillips fan about it right away.
That was more fun than EXPECTED!
It was obviously a long time ago, but on television, I once saw Wade Boggs come in and pitch for the Yankees. I think it was extra innings. I can't remember him pitching poorly or not, but it sure was funny to see him on the mound. ✌
17:15 a catcher catching, catcher hitting, catcher pitching. Imagine if the ump was a catcher back in his days of high school ball
Cluberson with the gas 🔥
It’s always fun when you get to see them pitch
hanser alberto for the Dodgers 10 appearances 10 games finished 1.18 whip. the closer krumble 63 appearances 47 games finished 1.31 whip. Alberto>Kimbrel
Games finished*
Awww.... I have to pause and wipe away a tear at 4:26.
Darin Ruf had a 1-2-3 inning not putting him in is criminal
After Harrison struck out Jake Meyers, he allowed 4 more runs to make it 21 runs
i'll always love the luis torrens inning when he won for us
Seeing Yadi pitch 😂😂😂❤❤❤
You forgot Christian Bethancourt throwing 95 mph
“There’s a strike!” as the umpire misses a call
Clemens keeping the ball that he struck out Ohtani😂
Stubbs using a 50 mile an hour difference in his change up 🔥16:41
List does not contain Dee Gordon pitching to Travis d'Arnaud.
List is invalid.
Was waiting for Clemens vs Ohtani and never got it 😞
@15:20 😆
Anytime a position player is on the mound with a pitcher hitting, it's a good time
Awesome video
The funniest thing to me is JT Realmuto’s fist pump when Stubbs strikes out the batter! You’d think it mattered!! 🤣
The Fact that the 3 of them are actually cathers 😂
I was at these games 2:27, 9:53!
Where is the Angels DH throwing?
I saw that some times.
Lol
I love Hansel Alberto ❤
14:54 did they let him go to first? Was it actually a walk?
hey MLB i’m a big fan hello
0:08 first
Came looking for Luis Torrens, damn shame.
How come this became a thing? I remember it was such a unicorn back in the, heck, 80s even.
The Players who got Beaned should have charged the mound!
I would have!
There was absolutely no call for it!
😆
It seems they did a better job than the real pitchers before them.
2023 austin hedges on the mound was a goat
I hope that any of those pitchers who struck anyone out got the ball signed lol
how can u not include darin ruf? his only good moment with the mets was recording 6 scoreless outs as a pitcher
靠背看著看著看到張育成,驚喜
Every catcher threw better than every pitcher 😅 They should make position pitchers throw with their NON dominant hand 😂
Very odd that the Rizzo and Freeman at bat wasn’t on here
I feel like some of these batters should've just tried to bunt the ball :P
Aka Detroit highlights
The first guy is playing 1 on 1 with his friend in the backyard.
This is why I think its a silly rule to limit these sort of things.
Isn’t Phillips trying to make a comeback as an actual pitcher?
Where is Albert?? I was fully expecting him to be in here
The first is the best
Why do positions pitchers pitch so slow? We see them throw so well otherwise.
They tend to be uncomfortable on the mound because it’s literally higher up. They’re not used to the height difference. Most of them get going pretty well if they have a bunch of time to warm up and get used to it, but it’s usually a blowout already so it’s not good manners to take forever getting ready
Also wouldn’t want them to injure themselves with their throwing arms. That’s the whole reason for position pitchers anyways.
How's The Panda not on here...
So why do position players pitch if they're not pitchers? Does anyone know why? Please reply and let me know!
Like all of these clips are from the end of blowout games. Strategy wise it's to close out a game that basically no longer matters without using one of their pitchers for whatever reason (could be so they dont tire for future games, could be to hide new strategy). How could you leave Albert Pujols pitching against the Giants in 2022 out of this video?
Its just a game. After all
Hi
Woah
They throw so funny
no whit?
Why is pitcher not a "position"??
Because it's so specialized. Over the decades pitchers have decided to focus entirely on pitching, not defense or offense. So when a non-pitcher pitches it's a big deal
I think you should only use position players after your entire bullpen has been used.
Yeap
no Isiah kinder falefa?
This one is my favorite of all time:

🤣🤣🤣😜😜
The new rules about this are BS.
First
Where is dee Gordon pitching against the Braves???????
Why aren’t they throwing real pitches???
is always lame... period!
