I just boosted a Revenant and followed this guide, and it was great overall. I do have a couple of notes for anyone reading this who decides to follow the guide, which I highly recommend. First, to use a shortbow, you'll need to complete the first few chapters of Secrets of the Obscure. This unlocks the ability to use a shortbow as a Vindicator. If you rush through it, it shouldn't take very long. Next, while Trapper runes are fantastic, they are fairly expensive, especially for a new player, as mentioned in the video. I'd suggest considering one of the alternate rune options instead. Finally, if you're unable to find a group for a hero point train (as I couldn't when I checked, possibly just bad timing), it's not a big deal. You can still collect all the hero points solo fairly quickly. Start by beginning the Janthir Wilds prologue to immediately unlock the Springer mount if you don't already have it. Then, progress in Path of Fire until you get the Raptor mount in the opening steps. From there, I downloaded BlishHUD and the Pathing module and followed Lady Elyssa's simple hero point route, which guides you through all the PoF zones. Some of the raptor jumps assume you have the mastery for longer leaps, which I didn’t. In those cases, I either skipped those hero points, or got creative with the Springer where possible. For the build, I just used whatever the default traits were after boosting, and swapped in Legendary Demon Stance, which made the fights simple. Overall, this guide was exactly what I was looking for, something simple where I can just play the game and turn my brain off and solo everything and listen to podcasts and audiobooks while killing shit.
if you boost at 80, you still get all the gear. IMPORTANT NOTE - YOU CANNOT SELL, SALVAGE, EXTRACT upgrades from, or other wise do ANYTHING but destroy this gear, so DO NOT put expensive upgrades in it unless you plan to use it for a while and not use another build or upgrade to ascended or legendary.
Curious y u picked vindi over herald? I typically just run the condi quick herald build with cele for OW. Although ur trait choices make sense for way more sustain
Vindicator has more synergy with Relic of Rivers which in turn makes everything more reliable due to perma Alacrity. Plus the dodge spam and on demand stability of Vindicator are nice defenses that cele herald can't really compete with fully.
You would want to run Devastation instead of Corruption using the battle scars traits for more self-healing. Also, bear in mind you would be significantly less tanky and have less boon uptime. But all that said, it could work. I would probably use sword/sword over greatsword in that setup and keep staff on swap.
Whenever I start a new toon, I usually do PoF hero points first, then EoD, then I go into HoT maps, full HP run in VB but only need about 5-6 hp's in AB to finish out all 3 elite specs. I've found that there's like 2 in VB that one might need help with, hero points that is. Unless I missed it but, what about the food and utility? Think that might need to be cleared up some unless one is to use what's given when using the insta 80 boost. Cheers :)
Interesting that this is a new player's build but uses the Renegade's short bow proficiency on Vindicator. So unless you've played through the story chapter that unlocks the weapon mastery to allow you to use it, you can't.
@@berts1045 It seems weird to be nitpicking this one thing that takes 10 minutes to do when there are other steps in the process that take 10x as long.
@@NikeDnT It doesn't take long, provided you've purchased the proper expansion and played that story chapter. It's just a step that you didn't mention, and it could be confusing to new players who don't know why short bow isn't immediately available for Vindicator. So it's not a bad build guide, it was just missing this one critical step in the process for a new player to be able to try it.
If you're going Janthir Wilds for Relic of the River, then I also suggest using a spear as you'll unlock getting to the Relic. I would then change Corruption trait line : Pact of Pain to Abyssal Chill, the spear has a lot of skills that add chill thus adding more stacks of torment also the Dodge adds chill, later you can get things to enhance Torment even further, but in keeping with starting out, it is on the way and spear along with Short Bow adds more Defiance Break bar hate. Plus a spear can give dark field to manipulate (Skill 4) in combo with skill 5 which you'll be spamming on spear anyway combo for Area blind, but you can also combo with Demon stance Call of Anguish (leap finisher) for a dark aura which reduces income condition damage but also if struck gives the foe even more torment. Spear 1 skill also has a 20% chance to life steal through a dark field as does shortbow Seven shot and shatter shot. I think getting used to using combos of fields and finishers really helps new players unlock their own skill progression which will help them in later game content. I will add you cannot do this build unless you get expansions, thus spending real world money or spending time in game to unlock with gold to gems as on the F2P Revenant is not a class you can choose.
@@NikeDnT go sunless runes to start with, cheaper same Condi adds, just less duration, have the gold for cele spear then , it's all a what can be done and when . Things add value the more you can craft and buy, but a spear adds more than the duration the trapper runes give if you're going to go Jathir Wilds anyway for the relic in my opinion. Just trying to add to your guide is all, for those looking, on your click bait title :)
@@NikeDnT probably by the time they get the Relic of the Rivers they'll have enough from wizards vault to get ascended weapon too? certainly enough to exchange for gold to buy exotic cele spear.
@@NikeDnT An issue with Shortbow I just remembered, unless you have Weapon Master unlocked which is another expansion you can only use on a Renegade. Maybe change the title to a great build for Revenant open world probably the best, rather than starter, which this clearly isn't as 3 expansions needed and hoops to jump through to make work. I still love the guide and build though.

Is this build suitable for farming onions?
if you have a mount, yes
if you boost at 80, you still get all the gear.

Vindi is an "all around" trait imho. You get a lot from it. Cheers :)
Can this build function without the Relic of Rivers? Is there an alternative for non Janthir owners?
it can, you can use a boon duration relic or a generic condi damage one.
What are the sigils that you did not want to mention please? ty
Tormenting. I would still use Frailty if I was playing solo.
would this setup work exactly like this just with full berserker gear?

for new players just starting out, especially for open world, i didnt think recommending a specific food was a good idea. using anything is fine

that takes how many minutes?
@NikeDnT i mean that's still misinformation, you're not telling them the whole truth

the only issue with spear is getting a celestial spear isnt as cheap as the short bow

@@Glimiril I don't make build for people who don't own expansions.
But with reaper I can solo group champs with DPS build and zerker stats. No crafting necessary.
Thumbs down, best start: I'll buy all three expansions before I get to know the game
you have to buy HOT to play Rev anyway
Starter build guides for gw2? The 6 month poe league is hitting players really hard.
