Kashimo solidifies and emphasizes what it means to be “the strongest” sorcerer of your era. Though many people believe Kashimo is a bum, due to the Edo period consisting mostly of farmers, this is not true. The Edo period had many heavy hitters, such as Ryu Ishigori, who had been stated to be physically tougher than both Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori by Sukuna. Alongside Ryu, there was not only an inheritor of the Ten Shadows technique of the prestigious Zen’in clan, there was also a Limitless and Six Eyes user of the incredibly strong Gojo clan during the period, having been stated by Satoru Gojo himself, (the strongest of the modern era). This further implies Kashimo’s immense strength, especially due to the fact his cursed technique: Mythical Beast Amber, is a one-use cursed technique, quickly decaying his body while used. Kashimo had dominated the Edo period over such foes of high stature, such as Ryu Ishigori, alongside a Ten Shadows user, and a Six Eyes + Limitless user. Most readers see Kashimo for simply just his strength, though that’s not all to him. As I stated earlier, he emphasizes the idea of what it means to be “the strongest” of your era. His cursed technique is one-time-use as I said earlier, and never getting a chance to use it in his time, when he got a 2nd chance at life alongside stronger foes, he was determined to use it on the one he was promised a battle with: Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses. His determination with his quest to fight Sukuna with his cursed technique, was even further shown in his battle with Hakari Kinji. When finally granted his battle with Sukuna, though doing well at first against a heavily weakened Sukuna possessing the body of Megumi Fushiguro, started slipping the moment Sukuna had reincarnated into his Heian era form. Although physically a loss for Kashimo, this had fulfilled his lasting dream of being defeated by one stronger than himself. Most mention this moment for Kashimo, though I believe he did better than anybody else would, reason being Sukuna had freshly reincarnated into his strongest form, no wounds suffered, and wielding the cursed tool Kamutoke from the Heian era.
