Hello & Happy Tuesday Doug! Kudos to the locations willing to cut income sources in lieu of reducing harmful impacts to the environment within their areas and controls. It’s great that the cruise lines are so easily able to cancel sailings or divert ships from harms way whether it be weather related or in this case, man-made wars. I’m excited for the Carnival Long Beach, CA sailings. I’m booked for the Firenze in 2024 for my birthday and as part of a larger group cruise. That will be my first West Coast cruise. Thanks so much for the day’s updates my friend. Have a blessed and beautiful day. ✌🏾🚢🙂
Mornin' Doug! I can't help but wonder if the trend toward larger and larger ships has contributed to reluctance for port cities to host a large number of them. I understand the demand is there, but I still think there is place for ships with 2000-3000 passengers as a way to help cruise companies be more "gracious" guests in city ports, and berth at locations that can't accommodate a "mega-ship".
Been a long time coming. Increasingly larger cruise ships have contributed to the overcrowding of many destinations. This comes from a person who has made over 30 cruises since the 1980's. I now avoid going to destinations when large ships are in port. Overcrowded port destinations make decisions based on the economic impact of tourism segments, and cruise tourists spend less than land based tourists.
Hi Doug, I think it’s great to hear about Carnival expanding into the Mexican Rivera . I still want to do Princess for that route as nostalgia, growing up watching The Love Boat. Lol Thanks Doug.
Here I am Doug made it today with 2 hours to spare😂. I sure hope this does not affect my 21 day transatlantic cruise in 2025. I have never been to Barcelona and am really looking forward to that port. Thx Doug
Not sure the Carnival Long Beach news is "news". Carnival had Imagination and Inspiration there and would then go on to get Splendor. Splendor was later replaced with Panorama and then Radiance and Magic replaced Inspiration and Imagination around the time of Covid. Now Magic is gone and we get Firenze.
I don't think the War is going to be over any time to soon .! You know You have '''FANS''' [ SIC ] out there that will jump on Pronouncing Words , but We know what You mean ... Good am Doug ...
I live on a small island frequented by cruise ships. Our surveys show that land based tourists spend $9.00 for every $1.00 spent by cruise tourists. These overcrowded destinations are simply making decisions based on the economic impact of tourism segments.

Firenze is the Italian name of city of Florence. The pronounciation in English is sort of "fee-renzay"

Sums it up. Have a nice one.
If a city doesn’t want tourism don’t visit, plenty of other cities want tourism money
