this is where i really feel like the show finds its footing, and it only gets better!
Okay so, I am a bit late to the party but! I’ve noticed quite a few people missing the point of the Cat Kings curse on Edwin so I wanted to share my take on it. When Edwin originally used magic on the cat in the first episode, it was a binding spell, essentially making it so the cat couldn’t go anywhere until it gave Edwin what he wanted, answering his questions about Esther. So then, turnabout’s fair play, and the Cat King does almost the same thing to Edwin, albeit on a much larger scale. He made it so Edwin couldn’t go anywhere outside of Port Townsend until he gave him what he wanted or committed a certain task/answered a question (counting all the cats/“How many cats are in Port Townsend?”) They also have the same line, Edwin’s said when defending his use of magic on the cat, the Cat King’s said in mockery of Edwin after cursing him, “I don’t see the harm in one little spell.” Which I personally take to mean that he (the Cat King) didn’t necessarily want anything bad to happen to Edwin because of it, just an inconvenience and a lesson. This could all very well be untrue and is only my take on the situation, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Thanks for reading all this if you did, sorry it’s so long. The Notary was great! The story about that house is so tragic and sad! Ive seen so many tragic stories over he years that I used to wonder if anything tragic and sad happened in the home the I brought! This is an episode that I will never forget!
Only pure iron burns, so the crowbar might not have been pure. Either that or Charles was wearing gloves. I think when Crystal said’see’, she was referring to how chipper and upbeat Charles was acting.

Hey, what Crystal was talking about is the fact that Edwin’s best friend had a fake smile or not about the fact that he grabbed the iron crowbar I think the show forgot to put that in about the iron crowbar at that moment that he got would’ve gotten burned by it
