- Maxson Goh Films SMRT Set 051, a Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151 train on the way to the scrapyard in Singapore after over 30 years of service. Originally delivered in 1987 with a white and red body, it was repainted to the current black, red and grey colour some time in the late 2000s.

Even though is sad to see this beautiful train go,they have served their duty,now it’s time for the next generation of trains to make the legacy of C151 live on,and make new memories with it,we shall never forget our original workhorses.

i remember the c151's livery white and red livery like the c651s, i like that livery a lot, now the c651s are also retiring soon, make me feel sad, also, the c151's departing and arriving sounds make me sometimes think it is a c651 which is the nsewl train model i like the most. RIP 051/052, i hope to see you and your friends in heaven.

I served together with all this ever reliable Kawasaki trains buried together my beautiful memories & history with it. Thanks for all the beautiful memories.
They're the trains that make the MRT revoltion happen, setting the standard for all other rolling stock that are built for Singapore's Network and it's a teary-eyed goodbye to a constant childhood icon that I had grew up with. A pioneer that inspired a niche generation of railwaymen like me and a few others to soldier on, rain or shine. Thank you for everything, C151!
In 2019 I moved to New Zealand and I was pretty sad and upset when I rode the last bus and train services. I don't know when the last time I rode a C151, but 11 years of growing up and riding trains in SG made me make this comment. I don't know if I am gonna ride it again. But I know that the C151s will always be a thing in my life. Let us salute these trains as they enter the scrapyard. These trains will always be one of the elements of not only my life but many of you Singaporeans.
I know how much this means to a lot of people, hence I strive to capture these precious footage 😁

Well, actually the first sets were delivered in 1986. I just took one of them today - set 004
ngl 34 years is a long time... seeing the brown rusted roofs
Actually instead of sending it to scrap, some of the cars could have been improvised and use as a food catering purposes along the rail corridor. At least we could have a lovely memory of our first train cars were and still sit in it to have food served to us. What a waste!

If I remember correctly it's the newer China made trains that often encounter faults that cripple the whole system. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hopefully they preserve at least one, it's only the right thing to do.
30 years are too short for them, they should be served for more than 40 years as they still look brand new in the clip. To be honest Japanese products are very durable.
Stipulated for 40 years of use shortened to 30 due to poor maintenance. However such savings already went into top executives.

Idk on that as in the engineering world they wouldnt gauge based on that.
There is always an operational service lifespan for platforms/assets
Take the case of an aircraft. The airframe has a service life based on XXXhrs clocked.
Same thing for the engines.
Even though trains and aircrafts are 2 different things.
One thing for sure is a city train would have clocked more hours during service life as compared to a passenger Jet.
@@Benjamin-wy4dj all manmade objects are designed with usage model in mind. Aircraft airframe by pressurising cycles, trains by years based on daily 19 hours of operations everyday. Factory machinery are different breeds, service intervals depend on processes and they varies.
Accountants then depreciate these assets book values base on these estimate.

C751B started decommissioning in March 2021.

They should keep one as a memory. Then later on who knows singapore gonna have a big museum of its own to showcase all its past and able to display. Because this is Singapore first ever train.
Sg generally does not care about it's transport history. There isn't a single properly preserved running bus in sg despite buses playing a huge role in our lives. Let's hope that they won't make the same mistake with trains!

That's true, although we humans workers usually would be entitled to some form of recognition for years of service, these trains here don't, unlike in most other countries.

SMRT should have sell these obsolete train cabins to construction sites or for F&B dinning in eateries. It's cosy, stylish and one of a kind concept.
