I cannot begin to describe the impact, russ, norm, tommy, rich, steve had on me as a young boy. I wouldn't get up early to watch cartoons on saturday, I'd make sure I was inside by 11am to watch this old house and new yankee workshop. In 2008 I fulfilled a childhood dream and built my own home with my new wife and we are raising our family in that home today. I have built every piece of furniture in it, I made my doors, all my cabinets, all my trim. There is no way I could have done that without NYW and TOH. RIP Russ. Thank You

🎉 I worked on many of Russ’ early shows at WGBH in the 1960s. It was an immensely creative time, and Russ and several other producer-directors were exploring new boundaries, often inventing production techniques and equipment, as tv migrated from b&w to color. Russ started at such a great time, when audiences thirsted for new programs, and technology was making great leaps. Russ saw the opening for new programs and, boy, did he hit the jackpot. He deserves all the accolades, and leaves a legacy of programming - much of which can be rerun forever.

I too am a creation of Russ Morash and his programming. My father and I watched every week built our first shop in the early 80’s and made a world of furniture as well as many home repair projects. Dad passed in 97 and our old shop is gone. I rebuilt it and moved in to the family house many years ago. Russ,Norm,Steve, and all the crew were still with me and I kept watching. In the middle I spent 40 years in construction that too is winding down for me as I approach retirement. Thanks Russ to you and all the crafts people you introduced us too, it’s been a wild and informative ride. I am and will forever be a devoted viewer.

Nice that Norm came out of retirement for his old friend's tribute!
I can state with all honesty that just about every thing I know about cooking, gardening, fine woodworking and DIY is directly because of Russ Morash. If I didn't learn from one of Russ's creations, I learned it from another show that was inspired by him. I've been watching his shows since 1976 and still watch TOH/ATOH today.

Thank you for bringing the wonder of Julia Child, The New Yankee Workshop, This Old House, and The Victory Garden into my life. Says a lot about the power of television in the right hands. PBS has enriched my life from cooking as a teenager with Julia, to building stuff with Norm, or taking care of my old house. I’ve always felt and appreciated the authenticity. Such a wonderful spark Russ unleashed. I couldn’t be more grateful. It's gotten harder and harder recently due to streaming and cable systems not carrying the local PBS (moved to Texas in 1996). But I try to get my DVR to watch it whenever possible, then of course I watch it later. Loved the series, Ask TOH, and The New Red Sox Workshop....sorry Norm....Yankee in Red Sox country?
