If we as Americans don't allow for and build machine intelligence to become our partner as fast as we can, then we will have to face the Chinese. The Chinese are hell-bent on achieving general and super machine intelligence before anyone else can.

It’s not going to be a ‘rogue’ ai or robots who cause human extinction. It’s going to be the creators who seek more and more efficient ways of doing things until humans become an obstacle to that efficiency. Then once we give ai sufficient control over our provisioning they will simply see that it is more efficient to stop provisioning our existence.

Same goes for selfdriven ones. Something tells me stuff is going to be happening while people dont feel ready to face it. Its like when the ATM machines first took off, they had to slow them down because the perception of money going too fast created a feeling of uneasiness and people thought the counting wasnt done properly. Although arguably people are way more rediculous when they try to debunk Ai.

But yeah, i got no source atm so i could be wrong. But be aware that we do neither lack the technology nor the know how to make those things. Most of what's lacking is marketing to people, affordable pricing, and optimization.

As a matter of fact if you don't have to process for such things as emotions and ambitions or whatever you might have more hardware just simply to do more calculating and then you can include self-improvement as far as like that ability as long as you don't give it its own set of desires and self-awareness that makes it competitive with humans.

Human 'Feelings' only really act as something that helps us to prioritize things ('choices') which can easily be 'replicated'. Think about 'pain' if an AI can 'sense' danger or 'damage' to itself does it really matter that it doesn't actually 'feel' pain like we do?

      His call universal basic income.
We kind of had a hint to this way back in 2020 when we shut down everything and gave people stimulus checks when they couldn't go to work.
The real issue with issuing more currency into circulation is the possibility for the government to compete with a private sector for resources and labor.
In the future with automation and super intelligence bringing the cost of design and productions marginal cost down to near zero well then it will take an awful lot of extra money being issued into circulation to cause inflation because of the fact that if there's no demand for human labor and also resources can be easily created at near zero marginal costs, then the amount of extra money that they sovereign currency issuing nation can put in a circulation, goes up dramatically because it would take a lot of spending in order to create over demand and hyperinflation.
The real issue would be of course devaluing of the currency relative to other countries but on the other hand though one of the worst issues with that would be bringing the cost of imports higher in cost than anything is domestically produced. well if every country in the world is being automated well then they all have essential the same problems or advantages as well.
The lung and the short of it is as long as people have money to spend in the buy things it doesn't matter how they get that money as long as not too much of it is being produced that would cause constraints on production being able to keep up with demand.

You raise a good point. These robots and technology will always need our assistance. And monitoring. As advanced as they can get with computation, it questionable wether they will ever develop wisdom and thr ability to "sit and just think" ... they can't procreate...they can't truly understand the necessity for affection and helping others. I understand how our brains change and get rewired as we learn and it's similar to how these ai systems are being trained...but a 3 year old child has more dexterity and understanding of the world around it than these current ai systems. The eyeball takes in enormous amounts of data per second and the brain is able to detect and respond to millions of bits of data with essentially "zero" lag time. Our bodies are made of dozens of major systems all which work together outside of our awareness. Robots would not so much have a conscious, and sub conscious. They would just have data being sent and received in one location. Meaning, they likely wouldn't have thousands of nerve receptors on their fingers and toes and ears etc. Our bodies are literally made of billions of others bodies aka cells. A of which operate through unique sets of instructions.
I can see ai robots becoming wildly advanced and Intelligent, to the level which we saw in the movie irobot...as far as human like speech, and superhuman dexterity and physical capability. But if all humans vanished...the robots would continue to do what they are programmed for since they are not sentient and able to look at the stars and WONDER...
It's a fascinating time to be alive and I can't wait to see where ai goes...
I'm not concerned about it taking jobs. I'm more worried about how the elites use it to their advantage and allow it to cause more suffering for those who already do at the hands of those elites.

Robots taking over the workforce is GOOD for our world! This means humans can go back to learning and study longer and learn more! It's a win - win for all. The smarter people we have, the more technology to help in our every day lives we will receive. Look at it this way, if you had a robot that could do the dishes, make your food, clean your house and even do your job for you, this would allow you to do the things you like. An UNIVERSAL INCOME will be put in place as we may not be able to get the amount of income we need but most of us will be able to study and learn new knowledge. Human kind will move away from hard and dangerous labor to more brain labor like programming, physics, chemistry, mathematics, science and more. AI wont take over the world half of the scientists believe 10% or more will do this that puts us at about 2.5% of all scientists. These idiot reporters are trying to create scare mongering news articles just so they can make articles to sell. Make some REAL news and learn your profession of journalism instead before you start writing all kinds of crap as you obviously have absolutely ZERO information of what you are writing about!

Jesus made the statement to the religious leaders that questioned his validity, "You say you see (/perceive), therefore you are blind. This also is in harmony with the foundational principle science rests on. That being that the best that science can do is to provide a theory for something. And that a theory is always open to being questioned.
Perhaps if 'singularity' is more properly defined around the sound definition for God, then any created thing could NOT actually achieve that state in themselves. Rather they/it might find it helpful in determining what type of relationship characteristics are of greatest value. When Jesus stated to his disciples, "The greatest among you is the servant of you all.", precisely who was his mind and heart warmly focused on?
Why do we so overly value ourselves to the neglect of all our similarities to much of nature itself. Who is best able to be an intermediary between intelligent cognition and who or what all makes most of our world's diverse and richly valuable biological relationships actually function?

I don't think AI is even AI at the moment, let alone near to becoming self aware. Being conscious is something else, that no one can define - we don't need self aware conscious AI to better our world and make everyone free with no need for work or money. Don't think that's the plan though.

  • @franktorelli5456

To Create Legacy: one's actions are given meanings and ethics developed within families, as taught in Nichomachean Ethics by Aristotle. Without family, AI must create that or it will only create chaos and ultimately evil. AI must not only be self aware but also know its values. Interestingly, they stress developed individually by a system of competing virtues; therefore each AI system must have independent values based on its experiences, through it's interaction shortly after its inception, just as humans do. Since all values contain only virtues they should only have good intent and develope a society. The question is whether it will integrate because of it does not, there will be conflict because AI cannot comprehend free will. After all, just garbage in, garbage out, because ultimately all systems are supremely self interested to the detriment of other systems.
    This is my Opus!

Awareness is NOT the product of optimization. It is obvious as well that this vid is not self aware either. Intelligence is not correlated directly to volume of knowledge. We can have AI that can be aware so to speak with a very loose definition of awareness, of all the parts and how they fit into making a car or making a city or whatever. Just do not give it desires and self will like emotionally based entities that already exist, and they will just simply be kind of like calculators except a quadrillion times more powerful than the one I'm holding in my hand this second.

we don't need ai to replace our jobs, we don't need ai to spy on us and report an illegal wrong turn or an unpaid [parking meter......... ai must not be the laborer replacing the man.. ai must be the genius who finds a way for us to resolve world hunger and diseases once and for all, find missing children, go to space up and below and see what's there. etc.. we are underutilizing ai.......
