I am going to share with you some German habits I have picked since I have moved in this country.
I am moved by curiosity that is why I decided to live in germany. Life in Germany is the best moment in my life. Grateful to be here and integrating in the German culture.
The following are some of the German habits I love doing now.

1.Speaking about the weather
Checking my app
Get excited about sun
When I was living in South African honestly I hardly checked the weather app . I could have once in a blue moon . I mean there is no use to check everyday when you have the best weather your whole life. Now when the sun comes out I get excited and speak about it like the Germans do crazy right …. I used to think Germans were so strange always having a full convo about the weather like 5 mins long or so but now I am one of them lol

Recycling

Germany has a very good recycling initiative in place. I was really surprised my first months visiting this new country. It is reported to now be the leading recycling country in the world ofcos more European countries follow this suit. the country surely does produce alot maybe that is why they are eco friendly? Germany tries reduce its waste by one million tons per year. Cool thing is that in Germany you can find outlets with recycling machines and if you bring the right bottles you can some few coins how cool ia that huh ... If the label says ‘Pfand (deposit free), you can get money or if it doesn’t have the Pfand symbol (then that bottle is not returnable for money. It is then your responsibility to recycle that item in the appropriate dustbins
I love Germany
In Germany or German house
The yellow dustbin is for plastics (wrappers)
The blue dustbin is for paper and cardboard
The green dustbin bin for food waste and organic matter.
Kenya forbids to import plastic bags and the use of them. I think it was in august 2017 they implemented this action which I love. There was a Moment when we flew to Kenya that told us not to bring the plastic bag we had .
Let’s keep our environment friendly please.

3.Biking/ cycling to the mall or down town and it is safe and there are so many cycles in this country . I love this and kids learn how toncyclr as a tender age ofcos which is amazing South Africa we do have an amount of cyclers ofcos but its as much compared tp Germany. Love this for Germany because this promotes eco friendliness to the country. So I love biking now than before before I was scared and ofcos didn’t grow cyolycing as teens do in Germany. Some people don’t have cars they have bikes to take them where but the bus abs train station is well connected to many parts of Germany which is I love the system In thi country
Awesome public transportation. I don’t need use a car in Germany
Germany really does promote great ways to live in this country without harming the earth , I wish South Africa could goon this route
Coffee and cake: Kaffee und Kuchen it is such a popular habit people in Germany meet around 3pm or 4pm just enjoy some delicious cake and coffee . I was never like this until living in Germany
I also plan my weeks in advance now since living in Germany I think might know what I would do 1 December 2024 haha
German phrases I say now Bitte Was, Aha when agreeing someone , heeeeh when im confused .. and when I say goodbye tschüss. Saying HALLO
Doing the mouth thingy how germans do lol I can’t believe. How German has changed me. Small German habits are creeping in slowly but surely.

And I thought Oregon had a pretty good recycling system, wow very nice. We are very conscientious of the environment too. Totally love the bike, it's high-time we got some bikes we've been talking about it. Lol oops the brown bag haha, "Heeeeeeeh!" In the way I spoke. I was losing my original accent. My speech expression was becoming more London/ British
I was also getting used to the British dishes. Though they were bland, when you added more flavour through the use of herbs, the dish was transformed. I eventually lost some of the ways our foods were cooked, however not entirely!

We have similar recycling system in Sweden, biggest difference is that you throw your glass at the same place as the other thrash, at least if you live in an apartment.
The first Swedish word most foreigners learn is "fika". It is coffee and pastry.
Edit: I almost forgot. I love that dress.

The word "häh?" means "wie bitte?" or "was?" ("parden me?" or "what?"). It's a slang word in german.

Canada is actually top notch in recycling. In the US, I've only seen this in Washington state and was told that some parts of Colorado does that too. Anywhere else in the US is a hot mess when it comes to waste 🙈 We only have one bin for everything and another one for paper products, plastic bags and/or recyclable bottles). Also, they use a lot of bicycles in the Netherlands too. Great video, keep them coming!

If you also use your bike for shopping, you should consider getting a shopping basket with a handle for the bike's luggage rack.
My husband was filming this video his bike has the basket but I don’t like his bike haha …

Actually "Tschüss" is not original German language.
Linguists assume , that it either derives from the Spanish "Adios" or the French "Adieu", but a majority obviously goes for the French option, but both mean something like "to God" or , in German, "Gott befohlen".
Anyway , the word would have been brought to the ports of northern Germany either by Spanish or Portugese sailors already centuries ago or by French immigrants by the end of the 17th century, which came to Bremen or Altona(today a part of Hamburg, but an independent and liberal town during the centuries before), because as being protestant Huguenots they were persecuted for their religious believes in their catholic homeland.
In the older form it was pronounced something like "Atschüss" or "Adtschüss" in the north German "plattdeutsch" language, but for some decades now the "A" ahead has finally vanished.
I was born in Hamburg-Bergedorf 60 years ago and I had an uncle in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg, who still always used the "Atschüss" until his passing in the 2000's.
By now the word had also made it's way from northern Germany to many other parts of the country in different variations , f. e. in Cologne they say "Tschö".

@@sindypetronella so very true and it's so easy the way Germany has set it up..put the US to shame (also lived there too)...the small change is a nice incentive to do the plastics...in fact currently there is a shortage of glass beer bottles and some other drinks in glass in Jamaica and they are offering $$ to bring them in and some places unless you bring in you empty ones you can't buy😲

Don't know how good they are in recycling but I read that Rwanda was the first country in the world that banned single use plastics.
