Rocket Science? Nope! Rock Science Part 2!

  • Is longer better? That is the burning question on everyone's mind these days, and that is what I am hoping to answer in this video series. What will show more results, 10 days and recharge the grit? 20 straight days in the same grit? Will the difference be enough to make more grit worth it? I roll em! You decide!
    In todays episode- it has been 10 days already! Time to check barrel 1 and put fresh grit in. If you missed part 1 you can find it here: • Rocket Science? Nope! ...

      One of these days you and I have to discuss a trade. My art for yours! I know we've sent a couple of things back and forth but I'd like to get a variety of stones that I can periodically swap out in my dart frog vivarium's. I figure I cant change out the plants without messing with their established habitat but I can change out stones without disturbing anything. 🐸

    I would think the second week of stage one will be shaped more , where the 20 day one could be smoother not shaped as much because after a week the grit is worn down to more the size of stage two grit for the second week , just my thoughts on it , we shall see , thanks for sharing

    GROOVY MAN. JUST STARTING TO WATCH IT. SO MORE TO COME. YIPPEE SKIPPEE LINES! VERY COOL FUN STUFF HCH. As for the science, you are weighing to the ounce. so the wet rocks are probably a mute subject. you can always weigh the amount of water that goes back in plus the rocks that you add to make up for volume. I believe the only way to accurately monitor the loss in rock weight is to add the rocks to a smaller barrel. However, then the math starts #mathishard you would need to know the rpm's of the first barrel and calc the length of one revolution. Then do the same with the smaller barrel and add the time it would take for the smaller barrel to travel as far as the larger barrel. Plus you have to use your rpm/grinding efficiency expertise and throw in some extra time for that. Hmmmm, I know I am forgetting a bunch of stuff. What it is HCH? What it is that I am forgetting?? Perhaps others here can better figure it out than I can. Have fun, that is all that really counts. :) Grit you gots to have grit or grits. One sure taste better than the other I am guessing.

    • @MrChubbyHubby.
      @MrChubbyHubby.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there Paul Hampton, all good ideas my friend, but too much math for this old brain, I just added the needed rock for volume and said bullocks to the rest, we will be judging by roundness, I guess. The issue with a smaller barrel is A. I don't have one, and B. smaller barrel = less rocks, less rocks = less weight, less weight = less grinding action, so you still skew the results. I could have run another barrel of rough to have for make up rock I suppose, but I did not, I let my youthful impulsiveness take hold and boldly charged ahead. Now that I think about it I should be able to tell the new from the old, take out the ones that are less worked and that should get me close, what do you think Paul? le me know buddy. Oh and butter and real maple syrup sure do make the grits go down.

      Hi there SacTown Aimee and I am sorry you have been worried my friend, and I can assure you that rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated, mostly, LOL. And please don't be missing me too much, I am here whenever you need me.

  • @sactownaimee
    @sactownaimee ปีที่แล้ว

    OK Mister - I'm digging the new experiment - BUT - what happened with Vote the Rock! If that 3rd barrel was the last barrell and was polishing on Feb 24th - what happened?!? I hope it isn't still giving you trouble! I can hold my horses another week or two I suppose - but the suspens kills!
    Just messing with you - take all the time you need, I'm thankful and appreciate all the time and effort and imagination and humor you put into you videos - I know it is a lot of work to put out one video, let alone a series, while having a family and property to devote your time and energy to also. So take as long as you need to, I'll be happy to watch the results whenever you are able to post them - I'm just hoping the amount of time going by without posting isn't due to that agate causing trouble right to the end!
    Oh - and for this experiment - I have no idea if adding more rocks skews it. if that is what you usually do, then I'd say no, because you want to see if running the regular way in one barrell has a clear difference than if you just ran a barrell longer without changing out anything. It wouldn't be real accurate if you changed what you usually do in the one barrel. You could do another experiment that tests the impact adding new pieces at the change over versus not adding them in a different barrel to see how big an impact that makes, but for this experiment it makes sense to do it how you did it - IMHO from a person that has absolutely no tumbling experiece unless you count tumbling down hills on purpose as a kid. Thanks once again for sharing! Sorry if this wandered too far or made no sense - I got that beer 19 and am a little loopy on cold meds right now I think - I'm over the worst already I think though so no problems here - unless what wrote casuses any in that case I will apologize in advance! Take care my friend see you at CanCans if I'm awake to catch it tomorrow!

    Well if you look into rock weekly and find a few words about the historical significance of jackpots then you will definitely understand that I don’t quite understand what I’m saying but in all fairness does that make it more accurate or less correct than the professional opinion of a professional?? Well I hope you understand because I sure like the process that you are going through!!

    • @paulhampton4699
      @paulhampton4699 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow man that was heavy. It sure didn't take this here ancient professional to see that indeed my opinion never counts, though I already knew that fact. But for the science, it is all about distance traveled, the coefficient between the grit, smooth rocks against the grit, and the new sharp, rough, rocks against the grit and those nice smooth rocks. Boy am I glad I am not HCH, cause I would have to be as full of BS as I am. Plus hoho's and Spam of course. UNFLATTENED MIND YOU!!! lmbo
