This is EXACTLY the kart I lusted hard for when I was a tween. It’s hard to overstate how *right) this beautiful combo was/is. I’m 76 years old and it still appeals to me like few modes of motor-fun do. I love Don Knotts as customer.

My dad still has his from when he was 16.. 😂
Goes like the clappers. With 1 engine. Way too scared to smash on the second one. 😂😂

I raced an R1/MC6 in a few vintage races around 2001-2005. It’s the kart I wanted in 1961 - took 40 years but I finally owned and raced one. 👍

Had a Fox Cart when I was a chiId and it had twin Mac20's on it. When UnIimited racing became big in the Southeast my dad would put me on that thing, 9-10 years oId and maybe 80 pounds, too short to reach both gas pedal and brahe pedal so he said to onIy worry about the gas pedal. Won many a race on that thing, along with a few bang ups.

With me and my friends it was dirt bikes in the mid 80s. Honda CR and XR. Yamahas and Husqvarna also chainsaw manufacturers

I had a kart around 1967 in El Monte California. It had a new McCullough 101, 9 port engine. Ran it on a track off 605 frwy across from the Irwindale speedway. Fast and fun.

Like your work. I'm planning a twin motor Victa in 1960 style. I need to get 4 wheels of the period , same as yours. Any thoughts. You look like you have sourced new tyres for yours.
    Thanks Ken

Thanks for the compliment, I have spent a fair amount of time and money gathering period correct parts for each kart I restore. Vintagespeedtires.com is a solid source for new tires. On most of my karts, including this kart I try to keep all elements from the period. Sounds like your project will be a fun one, hope to see it come online soon.

The wheels on the original appear to be Hands. The restored kart appears to use Azusa. I believe the Azusa wheels are still
available from Azusa Engineering at reasonable prices.

That cart is amazing!!! Great video!!! How do they go so fast? I have a Simplex with a modern 6.5 hp engine and I know it doesn't go as fast as those little engines. Can you still find engines like that? Mine was built for two engines.
    And that sound!!!❤
    Thanks for sharing!!!

Wicked 2 Strokes. The later models that my dad had were called floating 90s, they would do 0 to 90 in less than 5 Seconds.

I have what I believe is an F1. Ive read the F1 actually handles better than the r1 but dont know. The seat uprights were cut off to accomodate some kinda seat. Other than that mostly intact with the original axle and the brake still works. It looks like the pics ive seen and it has the MC gas and brake pedals on it. Im putting lawnmower tires on it since I live rural. It wont be getting a Mac.........ive had those before they were too tempermental for my taste good for racetracks but not good for just going out having fun. I might put a non goverened 8hp Briggs on it just to keep in the spirit of things.

You should probably consider selling it to a Collector, or getting it professionally restored.
Getting very rare, and ppl with money will pay well for it!!
They still restore those engines too.

I have two carts just like it. Not as well made. Made by Manco. I have had them for ?? 30 years with the SAME original motor. They fire right up. I upgraded wheel bearings and several other items. I built an addition for the man who does Jay Leno's motorcycles and he did some extra brace welding for me. I am almost 70 and my 5 children and I grew up driving them at El Mirage dry lake bed about 20 miles from our house. It has been several years since using them. I would ONLY sell them IF I knew the person was going to cherish them as much as my family have.
