    I used my Dremel and cut a trench in the back of both legs 2 1/2 feet long and 1 inch deep. Used wood glue to set the PVC pipe and then -painted over it. You can't even see them unless you are close to the back. Having 2 anchors makes it really stable and you don't have to worry about the wind blowing it sideways.

    Gingerbread is such a classic and timeless Christmas symbol. Another fantastic Christmas tutorial choice, Isaac!
    This project has a nostalgic feel to it for sure!
    I love the creative touches you’ve added to the traditional gingerbread man, especially the buttons covered with foam beads and the expanding foam smile. 🙂
    That smile looks so much like real icing!
    The warm white LED strip light is an excellent addition as well.
    Speaking of his Christmas display, Clark W. Griswold says to Cousin Eddie, “I hope it enhances your holiday spirit.”
    Each of your projects has certainly enhanced my holiday spirit this year, bro! 🎄

    My wife and I are are trying to make these and are wondering what would you think if we went with a smaller thickness for our gingerbread? like a half inch or 1 inch?

    • @IsaacAlexanderDIY
      @IsaacAlexanderDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m glad you are trying to make these. Though they can be made using 1 inch or half an inch, the problem is durability and rigidity. If you plan to have them displayed in the yard like I have them, they could easily break in the wind or stormy weather. But yes, they can be made using smaller foam board

  • @clorysssrichbow212
    @clorysssrichbow212 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought those lights for the candy canes and they are great. I will buy more to add to the gingerbread we made as well from your other video.
    Quick question though... did you do anything to shelter or protect the charging battery connector from rain or snow. I read in the Amazon description that the lights are water proof but not the actual cord/battery pack.
    I figure your recommendation would be better then what I could think of as you are truly an amazing DIY-er.

    • @IsaacAlexanderDIY
      @IsaacAlexanderDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m so glad you made them. I never covered any of the connections, they remained outside in the elements uncovered. That being said, I think I simply forgot to cover them and that’s why they remain uncovered. I am actually putting them in a waterproof box this time around because I don’t want to chance it

    • @clorysssrichbow212

      A waterproof box? Can you add the link, please. I had no idea they sell those. I was going to use Siran Wrap or a small toppaware container...LOL.

    How do you get the full foam board home intact? I don’t have a pickup truck and delivery isn’t a viable option because shipping itself is nearly double the price of the board. I could probably break it apart at the store and glue it back together at home

    • @IsaacAlexanderDIY
      @IsaacAlexanderDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re asking me how I get this home? I mean, you need a pickup truck… don’t you have any friends with a pick up truck? Don’t break it apart at the store, it’s not gonna be the same thing when you glue it back together

    • @IsaacAlexanderDIY

      Correct it doesn’t matter, as long as it’s 2 inches thick then you should be fine with the green one, pink one, white one or other colors

      If you have foam board that has paper then you have the wrong foam board. That is not insulation foam board and will not work well because it is too flimsy and too thin

    newcomer BUT already ADORE these- You've Calm way of sharing. (we're recovering from Hurricane Ian here in FL... So your vids are ASMR: not crazy loud backgrounds).
    Please keep vids coming!
    1 question + 1 idea:
    • So the expanding foam's works better? (holding PVC in place for rebar) rather than the Loctite construction adhesive?
    •(Doug Casey beat me to the "punch"!)
    leftover foam board appears to be enough, to construct Perhaps a Gingerbread Dog🐕?(buddy 😘).... Or for those cat ladies out there: a Gingerbread cat🐈.
    Thanks so again Isaac!

      Thank you so much for this awesome comment. Y’all took a beating down there in Florida from that hurricane, I hope you and your family are all safe and good. I prefer expanding foam as an adhesive because of its expanding qualities. It holds onto more surface versus what construction adhesive would do. And since it’s only used on the back of the Gingerbread, it can expand without being an eyesore. I actually really like the idea of a gingerbread dog, you may have sparked my imagination and now I may have to create one! Merry Christmas 😊
