I’m regularly amazed how well you plan your projects & present them to us. Greg works so hard & skilfully in so many ways. He supports Katie as his leader so well. Katie is so practical & efficient & not afraid to take on the heavy lifting. It’s so pleasing to watch her at work in more than one way. A great team!
Music to my ears when you said "water heater". My son is a plumber and he laughs when anyone says "hot water heater". Thanks for sharing. Yup your music rocks.
I love those goats of yours and the music most of the time. I lived in a garage for 10 years with a toaster oven and hot plate to cook (even making bread), then moved recently into a "real" apartment with a "real" stove and oven and big fridge. I feel like rich folks!!!
OMG! I’m so excited for you two!! My greatest joy retiring from 13 years of RV living was having a real stove, oven & fridge!!! Everything is looking so great!!! 😎
That is a great looking stove. Love the center burner for the griddle. You get so much accomplished. I am impressed. This location is so beautiful and peaceful. Love the footage of your little chipmunk friend. It looks like he has been eating well, or he is fluffed up to stay warm. Thanks for sharing your progress. Have a Blessed day.
We have a coal/wood stove with a hot water loop connected to a water heater in the summer solar he's everything...I'm 62 and like your music 🎶...I wanted earthy colors too went with board and batton
Nice introduction ! At 30:47 a tip is to use a paper on top of the screw or here the orifice, then put the orifice and the paper inside the socket (the orifice will be tight inside the socket). Screw it up then remove the socket and after the paper.
Hello Katie and Greg. Hard work yields great results. Using junk to make something usable saves money and makes the property look good. Have good days!
Yes the soundcore does have great sound i have two of there smaller speakers in my garage really like them.Great to get things cleaned up great to have your propane hooked up enjoy your cup of coffee well done guy's
If I lived there, I would install a few water storage containers, those large cubes, in a heated insulated shed next to the house, and have a steady supply of water. I really love the water filtration and purification system that Finca Life installed on their off grid property in southern Spain.
@@ThisOffGridLife they installed 3 water filters, one for larger particulates, then progressively smaller particulates being filtered out, and lastly they have a linear UV water purification element. So the water that they harvested from rain, from the roof of their house as one source, is purified into drinking water. They also let the water rest a bit in the collection tank, so some of the sediment falls to the bottom naturally. Given that you live in a climate with freezing temperatures, I would put several of those water storage cubes in an insulated shed right next to the house and also have a pipe heating element wrapped around your external exposed pipes. And some kind of small outdoor heating system that would keep the temperature inside the shed just above freezing. I haven't tried it, but I read that other people even used the regular bulb Christmas lights, not LEDs, to generate a bit of heat for plants that are straight up outside, not sheltered, and it's keeping them from freezing all winter. Rooting for you guys, I built my house and it was definitely a learning experience
When your but is freezing in the morning, you’ll be hovering over that stove to keep warm. Watching from Panama City Florida, USA. 🇺🇸. No Snow Just Breeze!
Good morning you guys how you guys doing today keep up the good work make sure it's all cleaned up you know that way there's no fires or anything you schedule for protected what's going on with the bus are you guys going to move the bus out are you guys going to take the stuff out of the bus or sell the bus all right have a great day guys
Greetings from England. I so look forward to your posts; what you're doing is amazing and inspirational. My husband and I dream of doing something like this one day. God Bless you both and enjoy every moment xx
Those stumps had some good stove firewood in them. Even the roots. Could dull the saw but easy to sharpen. Not to be too critical. 😁 I like to see people utilize every little thing.
When it's cold inside even though the temperature is accessible due to low humidity, place a pot of water on one eye on low. Raising the humidity up a few points will make a huge difference. Try it.
During your walk for the water system I noticed there's lots of fallen trees that could be cleared away to reduce the fire hazard. Cutting away the new trees around the solar panel is a great idea. Cat + stove= trouble. 😐 Nice to see the gas lines tested and home approved! Next should be a place for him to work (play with tools and wood) and maybe learn some woodworking skills to make furniture (outdoor). Frost already hitting the lower mainland starting tomorrow. I saw the snow levels are definitely coming down. Winter, the time to plan future stuff, do some research, and just chill out, pun intended. Take care you two. ☕
I just want to say it makes me so happy to see the two of you work together. Seeing your homes come together is amazing. You’ve done something that’s amazing, the two of you working together building a home. Really not just a home building an environment really to sustain yourselves. I have nothing but blessings to send your way❤
I’m so excited for y’all, I know how long it’s taken for y’all to get this far. Your property just keeps on improving, may you have the warmest and happiest winter ever.
You could use a circulation pump instead of another water heater. It could go in the bathroom and it will push the warm supply back into the cold supply until it reaches a hot temp and then shuts off. Boom, hot water at the tap. No wasting water. Love you videos keep up the good work!!!!
I got a washer with a built in water heater element, it only draws cold water and heats it up to whatever temperature it needs to for whatever program I use. I mainly use it on the sanitary cycle, so it's boiling the water. I have it setup in my garage, to wash dirty rags and dog laundry. It's hooked up to a garden hose, with a Y connection. And I have another hose for the discharge, going straight out of the garage and dumping into the sewer cleanup, so straight in the sewer line. Waaay less expensive than having a contractor setup hot and cold water lines in the garage and a gray water line.
It’s looking amazing guys!! And the wood chipper really made a huge improvement on cleaning up around your house and helping with the road and the animal pens!! Your house is looking beautiful and yay for not blowing up the house!! Lol!! It’s always a pleasure seeing your lovely faces and I hope that you’re having a great weekend! ❤
That beautiful wood chipper! Has been a blessing. Goat n chicken food/bedding too. The yard is looking fabulous!!! Greg n Katie, your very hard work is turning into pure beauty! I can feel your pleased energy! So deserved!
we use 2 tankless propane water heaters, change your main filter every other month, they will last for years,( the heaters) but you have to clean them every few years. we have 2 Palomas ( Japan brand ) and had them serviced last year after 10 years of service. We also have a 8,000 gallon water tank for our house and buy drinking water in 5 gallon containers that we fill every 10 day, 5 gallons in the kitchen and in my room 5 gallons. We are on catchment here and have to buy tank water, 4,500 gallons min, every 2 to 2 1/2 months delivered.
That first cup of coffee made off the new stove will be that to savour. That gas leak test makes everything safe and sound and gets everything ready for a cozy winter with heat, hot water and a stove. Cleaning up the yard before the first snowfall really helps. Never know what lies under two or more feet of snow.
Thanks for helping me with a nonfunctioning burner on my range. While watching you change jets, I got the idea to check the one on my burner. Some how a scrap of something got plopped right on the hole. One toothpick and all's well again. Thanks
You should never pressure test lines with just air. You are supposed to fill the lines with water then pressurize with a small volume of air. It's much safer if there is a catastrophic failure.
This is absolute nonsense in a domestic gas line! If you are talking about high pressure gas transmission lines you would be correct that filling the lines with water would be the safest way to test such a line. When such lines are tested with water, no air is used, only water pressured with a pump....think hydraulic pumps operating machine cylinders. The lines are typically pressurized to about 1.5 times the maximum operating pressure, hooked up to a sensitive pressure recorder and left for at least 24 hours. Once the pressure test is successfully completed, the line is de-watered completely and this process can be a royal pain in the butt. Low pressure lines such as propane or natural gas inside a building do not operate at high pressure and at least where I live require a stand up pressure test of maybe 15 psi for 15 minutes IIRC. The typical operating pressure for domestic natural gas appliances is a whopping 4 ounces per square inch. How do I know this stuff?? 36 years field experience with all aspects of natural gas operations with a utility company from well head to burner tip. Btw, Greg is using at least ten times too much thread dope per joint!
For storage think of garage in a box which is basically a metal frame and a tent out there it probably doesnt matter the neighbors wont complain most big box stores have them.
So excited for your range to get done! Yaaaaaay hot coffee! When Greg turned on the burners it was such a beautiful sight to see those blue flowers of flame spring to life...congrats once again on a job well done (no leaks!) and best to you both for continued success!
Good things in this life comes with an effort, but you guys are so insperational and a remainder that life can be more interesting if we have what it takes to get out of our confort zone. Congrats, I'm builder and I feel and know what it takes to build a house and even more when its off the grid. Love from Maui, HI!
Have y'all processed the meat chickens yet? Did I miss that video? I love the videos of y'all cleaning up around your land , love your new stove and refrigerator .. Everything is looking awesome.
super job all around guys. My one question is why did you put the kitchen uppers in before the ceiling? There is not much room to work with to put it up.
Every time I look at your property, and especially your house, I am amazed, you built all that! Like everything you see was built by you two, you’ve made a pretty good life for yourselves, carved out of raw land....
Run an extra line between the two water heaters with shutoff valves between, in case one unit goes out. You can temporarily use either heater to serve the whole house just in case so you can get around to fixing the inoperable unit .
Run the extra line first through a thermal solar heater! Somthing like a black painted pipe or hose. So you can possibly save some propane ;) If you need less warm/hot water you have it instant from the propane heater, if you need more warm water the propane heater has less work by the use of preheatet water!
Hi. I want to let you know i enjoy watching your show. I will try to comment even if it is to say hi. You are hard workers. You have none a lot. I wish you the best in your life.
What a wonderful start with a view of your surrounding area...🤗💫🥰 and of the cute little one around, up and down...😊 I love them...but yes the best is having things for the house done💫👍

we are going to miss the bus when it's gone / maybe not so much LOL
Love watching chipmunks, they are so cute 🥰.
Suggest on the siding use it to make a shelter for your tractor. You can always paint it if you don’t like the color.
Loved the opening sequences : drone footage followed by the squirrel and the raucous rooster call added to the ambience! Great job.
Exciting times with the new appliances! Awesome! Happy for you guys :)

It's starting to beautiful guys, keep it up. 💯
Ii don't know why but I love watching your new super wood chipper!
you can get a valve for hot water that when you turn it on the water is directed to the cold water line until the water gets hot
Every time I look at your property, and especially your house, I am amazed, you built all that! Like everything you see was built by you two, you’ve made a pretty good life for yourselves, carved out of raw land....
