    All good points that should be obvious to a guide. As a reluctant guide on occasion, I’ve learned quite a bit about how to quickly read a group and set the tone for them. Usually works out well, but there’s always that one guy who requires a constant personal touch, good or corrective in every group. I don’t think of myself as a leader, let alone a good one, but I get many return customers that bring along their friends! That’s a compliment in my book. When an actual guide is along, I’m much happier being the sweep and keeping the skilled riders back with me so we can play and do stuff that most of the group riders don’t want to do or can’t and they just want to follow the lead guide. This way, everyone gets some of what they want from a guided tour. Whether it’s a big bike road tour, off road Dual Sport or dirt bike tour, the dynamics are the same, yet different!

    Buy 3x5 cards and some blue long mask tape, write down all the designated stopping points. Don't make people use phones or GPS. Don't ride more than 35-40 minutes without a pause point to regroup. Make sure that everyone knows it's not Easy Rider or Chips and following the rider in front of you is the right way not side by side and tell all riders to use signals..@2-3 seconds per bike follow distance. Pee when you stop if you can, if a bike pulls over and everyone doesn't have common channel intercom, everyone behind will pull over and assume you have a problem, instead of needing to go the bathroom . don't assume the other guy has tools. Have a plug kit with CO2 inflator and have tubes, tire tools, patch kit and CO2, mini compressor..carry a travel pack of wet wipes and a yellow Costco microfiber towel.. don't ride w drunk people.. don't ride w anyone that doesn't have a front brake,. looks cool but it's super dumb. Don't ride with anyone that has some weird license plate setup that has the plate mounted under the seat, if cops can't see it everyone is getting stopped..

    Brad is great to work with! Another "do" is having a sweep rider with the ability to communicate with the lead. The sweep is able to keep the lead informed in case of spills or riders falling back and helps in setting the pace. In difficult terrain you also have the option to split into two groups and ultimately making a much more enjoyable ride for everyone. 😁

    Agree with if you are the leader of the group for the day, be responsible, monitor, and advance the group together. But you can also pre-coordinate to have some fun of your own, pick a “2nd in command” rider to lead the group for a bit while you let some wheel spin for a section or amount of time, away from the others if necessary. And maybe let #2 lead while you float back with the last rider. If they are up for techniques and help, great, otherwise hang for companionship and encouragement. It can help them ride at their pace, feel less anxious or alienated. You may feel like an average Joe, but you may look like a hero star to that rider struggling in the back, and you just might make their day.

    I was just thinking of a comparison of the CB500X and the Transalp. I thought of you guys. You guys do great breakdowns. Maybe a video idea?

      We'll add it to the list, although the CB500x appears to be discontinued, and so maybe it'll be the NX500 to compare with.

      @@RIDEAdventures Oh, I did not hear about the CB500X getting discontinued.
      Just looked it up. Seems more like a name change. From the CB family to the NX family. Other than the front plastics and the name change, I am curious what else they changed. Everything else looks exactly the same.

    Question regarding the pace. Maintaining an average pace, faster riders don't enjoy the ride, slower riders push to keep up and this is a recipe for disaster. How do you handle this? It can happen and probably will, even with a small number of participants.

    • @RIDEAdventures
      @RIDEAdventures  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Good question. I think you said it, it probably always will happen, some mismatches in ideal pace. And that can change from day to day within a group. Someone’s tired, or just not feeling as confident. - Thanks for watching and ride on.
