One thing you can do when using the sponge stamps is to brayer your paint onto the small gelli print and use it like a stamp pad instead of putting the paint on the brayer right from the tube. Gelli printing is great but I don't do it often enough to get it right, I am hit and miss too but its always fun!
STILL haven't used mine🙈. Lol 3 plates definitely saves waiting! Lol putting one in time out 😄. Yes I'm favouring the stamped ones too 🙊. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
Fun! I do really love those stamps. By the way you can get 2 for 1, if you use the gelli plate to pull the acrylic for your stamps, it also doesn't get into the cracks as easy. But then you can use it to pull stamps for one, and get a background on the plate to pull 😊
That’s always the thing I struggle with too, the drying time between the layers. These stamps are fabulous and I love the color combination😍 Thank’s for inspiring. Greetings Maia
Hi Barbara, awe don’t worry many have had the same problems. I don’t let mine dry as long. I put it on and press the paper down I’m using and pull it off no drying after I lay my pull layer. Just keep playing you’ll get it. Love ya
I use the big gelli plate and I make sure to not brayer my pull color very much and also not have it in such a thin coat then I make sure to pull immediately. I noticed if my pull color was to thin it dried on the edges to fast before I could get a good paper pull. Not sure why you are having trouble. Little plates look great. ❤
If you don’t already, watch Eddie Makes Art. He’s a PM Artist Studio designer. He’s got some great tips on gelli printing. I remember him mentioning that the last layer is meant to dissolve/loosen the dried layers below so everything lifts. As others mentioned it looks like you worked the last layer too much and it began loosening and moving everything around. He applies the paint in a line across the top and brayers evenly down. Both he and Darcy use wider brayers I’ve noticed. You may not have gotten the results you wanted but they look great.🌻
It’s always a hit or miss with Gelli printing. You have some nice prints. A little tip for your foam stamps, I keep a tray with very wet paper towels in the bottom and put my stamps in there while working, when you’re done, you just need to wipe clean. Your large plate definitely needs a good clean with baby oil. My favourite artists for gell printing are Robyn McClendon (I bought her book, it’s fantastic), Fulton @ ArtWhisperer88 and Froyle Art.
Barbara:they all turned out really well. Gelli prints are not my favorites due to the mess and drying time. It takes longer to do. However, crafters always produce interesting designs with them. Carol from California
Have you tried doing gelli prints with the distress oxides? That’s my favourite way to use the gelli plate! No drying time needed 😊 You don’t get as strong colours as with paint, but it is so much easier as so much fun!
When you were putting paint on your stamps with your brayer and your fingers, I was like “use your gel plate as a stamp pad”, at last you did!🤣. I think your big gel plate needs to be seasoned, just use cheap paint and packaging paper and go to town on it, make a dozen single layer pulls and then some double layer and see if it helps. You could also just feed it some baby oil or mineral oil even though it hasn’t been used much, it may help! You did get lots of cool prints!
I love all the papers, and yes, was fun to watch. Every time I see your adventures with the Gelli plate i find myself in a state of emotions, almost comparable with the times i waited the results to an exam 😁 "This gelli plate is a Diva" made me spill my coffee🤣💞💞💞
I love the idea of using the prints for wrapping paper. I couldn’t even begin to tell you the issue with your bigger gelly plate as I haven’t used mine yet, but I do think that chalk paint maybe does not lend itself well to this technique. 😊
Baby girl, you get your patience, or lack there of, from me!! This is why I've purchased several cheap gel plates, so I could cycle thru and keep going - by the time I finished painting the last one, the first one is dry. 🙌 Wanted to ask you - 'member playing with the shrinky dinks? I think you used a heat gun, right? My friend and I discovered using a mini pancake maker - I think it was seven bucks at Aldi. NO curling and easy peasy lemon squeezy! I've got my pile of denim scraps to play gel prints in the evenings as my reward for working so hard during the day, packing and all. I've chosen "necessities" to not pack yet, and that's one of them. Actually, are not ALL craft supplies necessities? Me thinks they are! ...sanity, y'know? Hugs angel, MomK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
Haha great idea to work with multiple gelli plates, monK! 😊 you definitely deserve play time after working hard! Mini pancake maker 🤔 super interesting…..sending lots of packing energy and hugs your way! 🥰❤️
I love you jelly prints Barbara. I made a plate myself but it wasn't a success. Can't find one to buy here South Africa. I must try again it look like so much fun.🎉
Just a suggestion when you use your big plate, a little more paint on the laste pick up layer and Don’t roll for as long as you do and let the paper sit on till it feels dry.
Ah the wonderful frustration of Gelli plates! On the bright side, if you bang your head on the Gelli plate in frustration, you won’t hurt yourself 😁 I hate waiting for them to dry, so I tend to pull each layer as soon as I’ve done its textures & work in reverse to what you’re doing, instead of letting each layer dry on the plate. That way they dry on the paper within a couple of minutes at most & no patience is required! Fellow Aussie Froyle Art is a master at Gelli printing (& laughing with joy). I think you’ll love this one of hers for cool grungy textures th-cam.com/video/ry2T_YWKcYM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qBzoa8rhac3BuPoH
They turned out amazing! Me and geli plates don’t get along 😂. But I will keep trying. And I definitely need to make some of those glue stick circles! We can always count on you to inspire us! Hugs 🤗❤️
I never have great luck with Gelli printing. I see such amazing tutorial videos, but I never get good results. I think stamping on the paper better too.❤
Liebe Barbara!
Barbara, you can use your smaller gelli plates to put paint on the stamps 😁 roll paint, remove it with the stamp, stamp on paper. you have both stamps on paper AND gelli print to take after drying and second coat. that way stamps will not get dirty with the paint all over
I wish I can show you my gelli plate. Never had a problem must say the plate is quite sticky. Have condition the plate with oil.I have made the most beautiful prints, about 2 months ago I used photo paper to see what results will I get. It was so bad had to use water to pull of the paper the gel came with. Now my plate has holes. Using the backside now. The make is a speedball. Any advice why this has happened. 4 years old store in its packedge. I can sit for hours and play. I even bought a brayer that fits a A4 works like a bom. Brabra thank you for your inspirational video's. Enjoy your holiday. Travel safe.
I make a new stamp every week using foam from free packaging. I have so much fun stamping that i definitely overproduced my "designer" papers. i learned to use magazine and book pages for that so at least this o\particular obsession of mine costs very little. :)
Awww, i dont thnk it’s you either sweet Barbara. I think individual products can differ and it’s probably something to do with that particular gelli plate. ❤
Liebe Barbara, ich habe die gleiche DIN A 4 Platte vom selben Hersteller und auch bei mir bleibt die Farbe am Rand so dick. Keine Ahnung was man da machen kann. Liebe Grüße Heide
I don't have any advice about your diva plate, but I have an observation: it looks like your smaller plates are "seasoned" and the big one isn't. I don't know if it is true or just looks that way in the video, or if it is what makes the prints better, it was just something I noticed. Thanks for another fun video!
I wonder if you're using too much paint and then rolling too much trying to thin it out, resulting in the reactivation of the layer underneath so you're mixing/removing the impression underneath 🫤. I've found there's definitely a learning curve using different sizes, and probably differences between brands. But you got some great prints and lots of fun fodder!
Barbara, I don’t do gelli plates but it’s always fun watching you do them. I’m always amazed when you pull the papers off. TFS! ❤

Sounds and looks like you had a blast....Can't wait to try my gelli plates...................................................😻
Look at you Barbara! You are so talented. Your brother will love having a book for memories and creativity from his sis!. -Diane from Arkansas
Thank you Diane! Fingers crossed! 😅
You've got some great collage fodder there!! ❤
Hi Barbara, awe don’t worry many have had the same problems. I don’t let mine dry as long. I put it on and press the paper down I’m using and pull it off no drying after I lay my pull layer. Just keep playing you’ll get it. Love ya
You are inspiring me to be brave and use my Gelli plate. 💜💜💜
Yay! Mission accomplished 😊
So very unique. Love the ochre

Love these experiments! I just finished wrapping three gifts and now I wish I would have made my own paper!
Thanks Robin. There’s always a next time 😃❤️
I believe you were gelli printing over 3 hours. It takes a lot of time, but the results are so worth it and like no other.
❤a lovely project sweetie ❤ such a pity the big plate is so diva-esque 😢 but your papers do look fun in the end.

Those would be amazing in a bee journal
GREAT designs!!!!!! Love the color combinations!!!!!

I will have to try that again, thanks! ❤️
I’ve used the oxides, some of my favorite prints. In fact I actually used 3 new pads up and had to purchase more for my stamping.

Definitely try again! ❤️
Very nice prints!
Fun printing.
Fun!!!
Looks like you had a fun day!
i wonder if it also could be the brayer? If I don’t clean mine often enough it begins to pick up paint or leave clumps, whichever it’s mood, lol.
Hi Barbara, when I use the PM artist stamps with paint, I brayer the paint on my gelli plate to use like an inkpad. Love to see you play!
Will definitely try that, thanks! ❤️

Barbare, have you conditioned your gelli plate?
How do you condition them? I haven’t heard of it.
I have….
How do you condition them?
I use baby oil then wash with soap
I didn't know you have to condition them either.😢
❤

Sehr interessant…
Your smaller gel plates will work as a palette, from which to gather paint onto your brayer, before printing.
I don't have any advice about your diva plate, but I have an observation: it looks like your smaller plates are "seasoned" and the big one isn't. Hy Sweety!! Kennst du vielleicht schon Rubberdance? Die machen auch richtig coole Stempel und Schablonen rund ums Thema Geliplate!! 🤩🤩🤩😍
Vielen Dank für den Tipp! Kenne ich nicht. Muss ich mir gleich anschauen! 😊❤️
I use my gelli plate as a palate.
