i have to say im 31 years old and iv been in the road with cars for quite a while and never thought about getting on a motorbike, but this bike and you're Chanel has made me do it cant wait ! thanks
Bravo Jamie, finalmente qualcuno che ci fa vedere un po' di sgommate, impennate, derapate con questa Scrambler! Tutti i video visti fino ad ora erano di semplici giratine domenicali, questa è una Ducati!
I have not had a bike for 20 years. I saw a picture of the Ducati Scrambler on instagram and it instantly brought back childhood memories with my old scramblers when I was younger. Pleased to say I am now waiting for delivery of my Ducati Scrambler Flat Track Pro. Good job Ducati!!!
Test rode this bike the other day I currently ride a 2002 Triumph Bonneville, but I have to say this will be my next bike. Gobs of fun to ride, handles like a dirt bike, and goes like the wind. Didn't like the high, too close bars, the bust your balls on the tank seat and the false neutral between 5th and 6th. But that's all I could find wrong. If speed is your thing, get a Panigale, but if you want to be 16 again, or are 16, this is the bike for you. I'll never get rid of my Bonnie, but for the sake of pure fun, this is my next bike. Way to go Ducati. European motorcycles have definitely got their mojo back.
I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of my new Scrambler. Your review was just icing on the cake for me. All the other reviews have been great but this one was by far the most enthusiastic and motivating so far. I've sold my loved and trusty Monster 1100 to get it. Thought it was time to go back to good old basic fun; just jump on and ride - light, easy and just a good laugh I hope!
Im old school , scrambler , I like the 1971 triumph trophy 500cc scrambler, the best do it all bike ever built, I had no trouble on the highway , had no trouble in the deep woods , could pull out of a ravine from a dead stop , im talking 45 degree climb all around , if they duplicate that one Ill buy it in a heart beat
Thanks Jamie. I have a deposit on the Icon and the dealer called me yesterday to say it's expected to be delivered in April. As a multiple bike owner I look to this bike to be an all around bike for days I don't want clip-on's. I'm 52 and this bike appeals to my desire to have a bare bones ride with gobs of character. Wheelies for everyone. Merry Christmas.
I am happy that new riders are coming into the sport and that the manufacturers are making bikes to temp them away from scooters. In the long run this is good for all of us. The hipster that gets this has a greater likelihood of becoming a lifelong rider than one that starts out on a chopped up antique that seldom runs and can't stop. God only knows why Honda, the company that made motorcycling popular worldwide, has no part of this. Their 700s are lifeless and the CB1100 is boring but still not a beginners bike. An air/oil-cooled 750 with easily molested exhaust and chrome fenders would fly out of dealers showrooms and, being a Honda, it would actually run.
Not too hot for the hipster lifestyle that Ducati's trying to market alongside with the bike, amakes me throw up in my mouth a bit. But I do love everything that this bike's about. Strongly considering getting one next year. Seems like the perfect bike if you can have only one bike.
Funny thing is the whole lineup is a bit tongue-in-cheek and doesn't take itself seriously at all. It's all a pretty modern mix with retro appeal, not 'trying to be a lumberjack' with glasses sans lenses. Go to the /apparel site to see for yourself. Triumph has done a lot worse by going total metro-sexual with their magazine.
I think that the most important motorcycle for the world is the MT-07 for the year of 2015. Price, fuel efficient, weight, torque, power, design of the MT 07 are just stunning.
Nice review and I agree about putting fun back into motorcycling and open the doors for no bikers to get involved. Love the lifestyle aspect too. Nice...
best review of the scrambler yet - good on ya for going lone wolf - this is THE bike which will reinvent the industry - good stuff ducati ! anyone wanna buy a honda cb550 ? I think I just found its replacement :)
But what about those tires? They are not a standard size you can buy from Dunlop or Michelin or Kenda. Can I put a non-Pirelli tire on there without messing up the traction control?
Ack! This bike came along a little too late for this old man... It's one of those "in my dreams" kinda things at this point in time. Many thanks to the Team at Ducati for bringing this to market...
Looks like a real winner. Sounds great. I wonder how the gearing handles tight trails? I Iike the lower seat height. My old Honda dual sport was too high for me in tight trails. I want one!
Have fun dishing out a grand or so when you shatter those rims because Ducati decided to not use traditional spoke wheels. Also for about 2 to 3 grand less you can have a Triumph Scrambler that is actually designed to be a scrambler.
I was going to ask the same thing! Just put a deposit on a Yamaha Super Tenere, but I'm loving the idea of a scrambler desert sled but am worried about 6-7 hours in the saddle in that seating position.
how is the maintenance charge (oil change, servicing.. etc) for this motorcycle? I heard that its too expensive for the other ducati's motorcycle.. Is it the same or the scrambler's charges are cheaper?
I only have one question... When are you getting your hands on the new Multistrada?... Because that's the review I'm really waiting for from you... Get on it man! : ) Thanks By the way, I love your reviews in general... Entertaining!...
At 6'2", I have been told it will fit nice. I'm looking for a bike that will allow me fun back and forth to the office (2 twisty miles, no lights.) and a hour ride after dinner type of life. Find a trail here or there on the weekend for some simple off road fun. The point.... Not on it long enough to worry about getting cramped up. Hey, it's a "FUN" bike.
Hi jordan hannibell SparksMagoo The seat is low but there is plenty of room. See my fried Wes Siler's review and he's 6ft+: indefinitelywild.gizmodo.com/why-ducatis-slowest-bike-is-also-its-best-1669893199
Yes the seat is low but the handle bars are high and the footpegs perfectly positioned so I works for all sizes. 6ft + journos were on the press launch and I heard no complaints, quite the opposite.
Looks so agile! Which scrambler is this please? I want to buy a Scrambler 800 but don’t know which one to buy in 2020: Icon or Full Throttle? Is it the same to drive? Would like to be able to go on&off roads 😎Thanks for any answer ✌🏼
I am truly in love with Ducati Scramblers that I do not even mind getting one before a car. MotoGeo, what do you think? I will use the Scrambler as a daily driver. Would it be unwise to get one first before a car? I am just 22 so my budget for a vehicle is just under 17000
Cracked Statues No, this is not a first bike, nor is a 696. Honestly speaking, start with a low cc, 250cc and under. Learn the basics and then move up. Motorcycling is lots of fun, but crashing sucks so you need to learn the basics and good riding control before getting on a bike with lots of power. I hope this helps? :) Ride safe, have fun :)
Don't listen to them.. I started on a daytona 675, and now i ride a speed triple... The scrambler is way easier to start with than a supersports bike - so why not start with a scrambler... its cheap too... whats the fuzz about "start with a 125 or 250cc", this is bullshit - as soon as you get on a bigger bike everything is so different, weight, power etc... you start learning almost from the beginning anyway...
Knives and Motorcycles still 75hp v twin should be able to wheelie just fine especially with the upright seating... I know you can wheelie this 2nd gear no problem by popping the clutch since i always did that with my 35hp first bike :). probably could clutch up in 3rd with good technique, doubt fourth without using the suspension to help EDIT: just saw motogeo already replied, bravo for actually reading comments haha
Being a huge Triumph fan, I wonder how this bike compares to the Triumph Scrambler. One thing is for sure, it looks like an awesome bike. If I'd have to chose between this one and the Triumph Scrambler, I'm not sure I'd go for the Triumph, the Ducati looks more modern and kind of feels fresh and new. Combined with the whole "lifestyle"-thing that goes with it, I fear Triumph has their work cut out for them to try and match what Ducati have done here.
Well the Triumph Scrambler is basically a Bonneville with a few changes. Almost a parts bin special. Basically slapped some different pipes and suspension on it. Leaving it as pure retro, instead of really updating it to 21st century spec. It's not like Triumph can't do dual-sport, as they proved with the Tiger 800 XC. The Ducati reuses the engine from the Monster 796, but appears to be otherwise a new bike. Hopefully the Ducati will inspire Triumph to put more effort into the next version of their Scrambler.
Yeah, basically the same thing as curb weight. Battery, oils, brake fluid, fuel. The Ducati is still almost 100lb lighter. That's the difference between aluminum vs steel. The Triumph is also much larger. When I sat on the Ducati at the dealership it felt like a Street Triple by comparison. Really narrow. It felt odd when I've been riding a 1098 and Diavel. I still want to test ride since neither of my existing bikes like dirt roads much at all. Basically no tire options on the Diavel for touring.
Was this actually a bike you purchased or one give to promote the Scrambler brand? Curious is it would be a machine that you’d normally ride or if it was more of a sponsored ride?
Awesome video, but I can't imagine taking that piece of art off road... I beat the hell out of my dual sport and would be too worried I would make this thing ugly in no time flat! SO, DUCATI VS TRIUMPH (SCRAMBLER DEATH MATCH): WHO WINS?
I love Triumph... Although They started manufacturing them in Thailand which for I would get myself an older model before the transition. This Scrambler looks very light and super agile compared to the Triumph Bonnie Scrambler...
Pablo Hernandez The scrambler and bonnie are exactly the same aside from the crank and some aesthetics bits (ie. exhaust). Both are heavy as fuck, wouldn't really want to deal with them off-road. The duck is 100lbs less!
Well, I'm not going to sell my Monster but I will definetely go and ride the Scrambler for a day to see what it is like. Might sell my Harley though ;-))
The thing that puts me off Ducati is that you can't do valve adjustments yourself. The bike has to be worked on my Ducati specialist mechanics with special tools. Correct me if I am wrong.
You are partially correct. The desmo adjustment is notorious, but in the past few years, Ducati has improved the materials so that their adjustment intervals are far greater than they used to be. I had an S2R800 and learned to do the valve adjustment myself, it's a PITA bot not any more involved than adjusting/shimming a twin-cam 4 cyl with underbucket shims. Dont let that deter you from owning one.
This is exactly the type of bike that I am looking for just not for this price. When you get close and personal you understand why me and so many people had said that it's not worth what Ducati is asking for it.
Who cares about Mpg and max Speed on such a bike? Everybike has touring capabilities, i did a 6000 mile trip on a Triumph Daytona 675, and he told that the bike is briliant on- and offroad.
i do care :D :D :D i do not live in us or european union, roads are really bad here outside and inside cities and there are a lot, really a lot mountain roads, with mud and dirt, so i´m interested in acquiring a bike as versatile as possible, capable of quick movement in traffic and capable of travelling long distances with as less fuel costs as possible, co´s i do not earn much and love travel :D :D :D i hope i could answer your question to your full satisfaction? :D :D :D
budzugan You just gotta remember that Ducatis are expensive to maintain, due to their desmodromic valve System which is really complex, even if the base price is kinda low.
yeah, that is kinda why I´m considering buying a honda, if I have money for the new africa twin (or the old one, which is more likely considering my budget), that probably will be coming next year, or maybe a triumph scrambler :D :D :D it was kinda general question from me, I like making lists of bikes I would buy if I had money for it :D :D :D
Schleberger The Desmo system makes it more complex and requires shorter valve adjustment intervals, but it's mainly the fact that Ducati uses belts to drive the cams on almost all their engines that makes them expensive to maintain. Belt change intervals are larger now, but you still need to change them if you put a lot of miles on a Ducati. I only owned one Ducati and the short/expensive maintenance intervals put me off.
i have to say im 31 years old and iv been in the road with cars for quite a while and never thought about getting on a motorbike, but this bike and you're Chanel has made me do it cant wait ! thanks

fairplay for trading the Monster 1100, I'm thinking about trading my Hyper 821 for one of these..
Sounds like we're both hooked Mark. Hopefully not too long to wait now!

"Group ride? Nah, (f-ck that) let's go do our own thing!", so f-cking true.
Hats off to motogeo the first rider to really take the bike for a spin!
Wasn't expecting that when I woke up this morning. A Ducati Scrambler being delivered to my door step. Merry Christmas everyone

The Trip with the Ducati was beautiful❤
nice to see you back guys! I miss ride apart so much!
Welcome to MotoGeo iBOOM :)
Was that a wild Wes Siler I spotted?
I've been diggin' on the scrambler ever since I caught wind that they were bringing it back. I love it.
Not too hot for the hipster lifestyle that Ducati's trying to market alongside with the bike, amakes me throw up in my mouth a bit. But I do love everything that this bike's about. Strongly considering getting one next year. Seems like the perfect bike if you can have only one bike.
I know, right? I could almost _smell_ the pretentious hipsters through my monitor.
Funny thing is the whole lineup is a bit tongue-in-cheek and doesn't take itself seriously at all. Great review, looking at getting one of these in the spring.

Awesome vid as usual guys! "REV!"
Ack! This bike came along a little too late for this old man... It's one of those "in my dreams" kinda things at this point in time.
Many thanks to the Team at Ducati for bringing this to market...
Never too late mate 😀
Nice review, I could see myself getting one of these! I'd have to sport a mustache 24/7 though
I got one and I agree with your comments - very fun bike.
Looks like a real winner. Sounds great. I wonder how the gearing handles tight trails? I Iike the lower seat height. My old Honda dual sport was too high for me in tight trails. I want one!
Jamie, if you had to choose one bike. The scrambler or the 821 monster? Majority of riding being in the mountains.
Have fun dishing out a grand or so when you shatter those rims because Ducati decided to not use traditional spoke wheels. Also for about 2 to 3 grand less you can have a Triumph Scrambler that is actually designed to be a scrambler.
They should send me one to customize for them !
How is this bike for longer rides? I'm looking for something that can handle decent distances that isn't necessarily touring specific.
I was going to ask the same thing! Just put a deposit on a Yamaha Super Tenere, but I'm loving the idea of a scrambler desert sled but am worried about 6-7 hours in the saddle in that seating position.
What model Alpinestars jacket is he wearing?
This is a great bike, super excited to ride one!

MotoGeo Sweet! Cannot wait!
Get on it man! : )
Happy new year!
can this bike be used for touring? coz if thats the case then it would be perfect....
Cool bike. Great review! Happy holidays MotoGeo :)
vous présenter la DUCATI bien mieux que l Europe Super vidéo
Finally! I think I've got to own this.
I would really like to know how it stacks up against the Triumph Scrambler.
Hey moto geo do you guys think the scrambler seating position would work with cafe style clipons?
Looks cool, nice review, thanks.
I need a new lifestyle, think I'll buy one from Ducati :/ hehe
Looks like a fun bike, maybe a little too small if your 6ft+? Any plans to do a GSA1200 ride anytime soon? Would be good to hear your opinion.
At 6'2", I have been told it will fit nice. I'm looking for a bike that will allow me fun back and forth to the office (2 twisty miles, no lights.) and a hour ride after dinner type of life. Find a trail here or there on the weekend for some simple off road fun.

Yes the seat is low but the handle bars are high and the footpegs perfectly positioned so I works for all sizes. 6ft + journos were on the press launch and I heard no complaints, quite the opposite.

hi
what is the top speed of the scrambler?
What goggle you are using... ? Looks very cool.. Thank you
How does this scrambler stand up against the Triumph?
Hello friends I 'd like to know the name of the song used in this video. I just ordered the replacement of a Ducati Yamaha MT07
I am truly in love with Ducati Scramblers that I do not even mind getting one before a car. MotoGeo, what do you think? I will use the Scrambler as a daily driver. Would it be unwise to get one first before a car? I am just 22 so my budget for a vehicle is just under 17000
Is this a good bike for a beginner? I either want to get this or the Ducati 696.
You don't need a Ducati for your first bike mate.
Roxak Yeah, I started on an 800+ lb Harley Road King and then graduated to a much lighter Speed Triple.
Cracked Statues start the basic on 250cc climb up to 600 when you've mastered it, and you can thank me later for saving your skins
Which aria model helmet ara you wearing in the review?
Anybody know what denim riding pants he was wearing ?
Alpinestars Tech Denim
MotoGeo Thanks!! Nice fit and looks neat!
What model of Arai helmet did you wear in this Video ? ( the yellow one )
It's not in the link below 😢
any idea on it's MPG? max speed? that wheelie you did looked pretty effortless... what gear were you in?
Everything looks effortless from a former GP rider. 😊
Max speed not sure but we did 110+..... Wheelies were in 1st and 2nd, the bottom-end grunt helped lots
Knives and Motorcycles still 75hp v twin should be able to wheelie just fine especially with the upright seating... I know you can wheelie this 2nd gear no problem by popping the clutch since i always did that with my 35hp first bike :). probably could clutch up in 3rd with good technique, doubt fourth without using the suspension to help
EDIT: just saw motogeo already replied, bravo for actually reading comments haha
YUP. this will be my bike. I'm buying this bike.
Could you please make a video about the things that you dont like about the bike?
Being a huge Triumph fan, I wonder how this bike compares to the Triumph Scrambler. One thing is for sure, it looks like an awesome bike. If I'd have to chose between this one and the Triumph Scrambler, I'm not sure I'd go for the Triumph, the Ducati looks more modern and kind of feels fresh and new.

Triumph is heavier....by a lot.
Ducati Scrambler wet weight: 186 kg (410 lb)
Triumph Scrambler wet weight 230 kg (507 lb)
yodaisgod2 Triumph's claimed curb weight is 507...
kuhlka www.triumphmotorcycles.com/bikes/scrambler/2014/scrambler
It was a typo on my part. Again, that's wet weight.
Yeah, basically the same thing as curb weight. Battery, oils, brake fluid, fuel. The Ducati is still almost 100lb lighter. That's the difference between aluminum vs steel. Yay! I want. Looks so fun
Looks like a fun bike. I would definitely swap out those handle bars and gauges though… looks cheap.

brilliant review, whats the wind blast like at motorway speeds ? hmmm, do I trade my Hypermotard 821 for one of these ?
Don't be silly!
Been waiting for your review and that settles it, im ordering one.
Thought about getting the enduro but the extras just dont seem worth it.
Good review. Glad to follow you Jamie. Keep up the great work!
Liked the beard. Merry Christmas bikers.
Decent power to weight ratio but I would hang up in the NW on tree stumps and rocks.
Sorry Ducati but I have to keep the DRZ.
BONES

I wonder if this is too much bike for me, coming from a 50cc scooter. Scrambler looks nice though!
Got a duke 390 4 months ago, but I still want this scrambler for so many reasons😳
What is the top speed?
Bedoya M Juan P top speed is hipster
+Bedoya M Juan P (moflecito) 165mph
What helmet is this??🔥🔥👍🏼👍🏼
Another great video!
Has every bloke in the USA got a beard now?!!!
Love this bike.
That's the way to ride!!
Well, I'm not going to sell my Monster but I will definetely go and ride the Scrambler for a day to see what it is like. Might sell my Harley though ;-))
Like the new 'tash Jamie!
I really really like this bike
Showroom date?
Where can I get that baseball cap from?? :D
Love the fact it can go off road and back on. Just wish it did 150 mph. 😅
The thing that puts me off Ducati is that you can't do valve adjustments yourself. The bike has to be worked on my Ducati specialist mechanics with special tools.
Correct me if I am wrong.
You are partially correct. The desmo adjustment is notorious, but in the past few years, Ducati has improved the materials so that their adjustment intervals are far greater than they used to be. orangelion03, Thank you Orangelion. Good information.
very nice bike.....new and old togheter
This is exactly the type of bike that I am looking for just not for this price. When you get close and personal you understand why me and so many people had said that it's not worth what Ducati is asking for it.
dude it costs the same as a yamaha bolt or fz-09, thats pretty damn reasonable. I just wish the Icon version came with the spoked wheels
Matt f Maybe in your country. Where I live the base model the Icon costs 10134 $ US converted not to mention the Taxes.
Turbo Lover If you really do have both im not sure how you could come to any conclusions since you cant have had the scrambler more than a month
Where is the shot with the food? Had nothing to eat ? Something is wrong :) a lot of hype about it makes me afraid let's see when it comes to town.
Why don't you try to hear the sound of Two Brothers on Ducati Scrambler!

You sold me. I bought the Icon Dark. Neighbors shake their heads. Neighbor wife now waves at me.
Soon it is gonna be mine. :D
LOL Bike launches are only fun when you don't need to ride in the group! Did you see motoring journo and newbie rider Chris Harris?
Wait Chris Monkey Harris on a bike? You could say that is *puts on glasses* harriesy...ok that was a bad one.
Why don't you try to hear the sound of Two Brothers on Ducati Scrambler!
