The play was to put the Penguin in front of the Ox, causing the Hedgehog to trigger the Ox an extra time when it dies to the Hedgehog at the beginning of the round
And in the last run if he place the turkey before the fly he'll get an 8/8 fly instead of 5/5

The play was to put the Ox behind the Whale to get two extra triggers and maintain melon armor the whole time.

I love how NL tunnel visions on honey. If you have 4 units and buy honey, then you are buying a bee for your fifth unit. It's good when you have 5 units cause it gives you a 6th unit but if you have 4 units, you're buying a 1/1 for your 5th instead of a 2/3
The upside is that if you don't like the other units available, it gives you one you don't have to immediately replace

At least we know he isn't lying about not running the summon build often, since he passed up the most important items for that build, melon and 1ups to protect the squishy tiger/turkey/fly.
I think the level 6 pets are only garbage if you don't use cans, having your first boar in the shop already have big stats makes it worth it

NL needs a Swan intervention.
Swan is a top tier unit. An extra reroll per turn is cracked and it only gets better with levels. Also has a decent stat spread for Tier 2 imo

I have yet to make 10 wins with a hedgehog. I'm either dead at 4 wins or 9 wins and it breaks my heart every time
I've never seen someone hang onto a swan like NL does. Like, the 2 gold isn't worth it in the late game to me.
i would say that mathematically it is worth it. compare a level 1 giraffe to a level 1 swan. in the early game, the +1/+1 stat buff from a giraffe is a difference maker a lot of the time, whereas once you get into late game, +1/+1 on one animal just isnt very much. the value of your gold has gone up in the late game, and it has left the lvl 1 giraffe behind.
now compare that to a lvl 1 swan. in the early game, +1/+1 is worth way more that just 1 gold. this is clear because you consider buying an apple much of the time. so giraffe is better than swan right? well, the thing is, in the late game, as the value of your gold goes up, so does the value of the swan! because the swan gives you gold!
im not saying that a lvl 1 swan is good late game (of course it isnt) but its a lot better than a level 1 giraffe. realistically your swan will be lvl 2 or 3 by that point.
anyway the point is that the swan is unique in that its value increases as the power level of food/animals in the shop increase. you could say the same for goat or sauropod but they are late game units, and so you dont get to witness that increase as much.
He overvalues the Swan more than any other Unit. If he would have sold the Swan and took an early Boar, he would have won 3 matches that were draws.
2 gold is pretty Pog when you’re in reroll hell looking for your level 3 hedgehog

@@Octoshark19 If you're on 9 or 6 lives after 3 rounds then losing round 4 doesn't actually decrease your 'lives'. It's a good strategy.
I think the self buffing monkey is actually secret pog tech. +3/+3 is fast for a 3 gold purchase, especially if it's only condition is placement
For summoning builds, you either go with a fly or with animals that summon when they faint. Either works. But doing both means that there's no room for your fly to trigger and so you don't get much at all

10:37 My man loves a 4 squad marty with a bee instead of just a fifth weak unit at the back. If he thought about it for a minute, the result would be the same except you'd end up with a 2,3 instead of a 1,1
I agree with you for the most part, but there are instances where a bee is preferable. For example, it dodges AOE damage. It also scales better assuming you're going to have a 5th unit eventually anyway.

I sometimes run an ant if I keep going against snipers. If its the lowest health, a dolphin will target it and if you put it in the back, an alligator will target it. That is the only reason putting an ant in the back makes sense

He threw the last run. His squad was shit against snipers but still rolled past two one ups + of course the fly even though he was not punished for it. One up on the fly would also have been +12 +12 from the tiger turkey, absolutely worth it.
I'm not sure in which order the one up on sheep works but if it does respawn the sheep, it would have been worth it.
