A few corrections.. The Karikalan in the Karikalan movie is not the same... Karikalan was a legendary tale of a prince who fought his uncle for his throne, after being forced into exile when his uncle killed his father... Aditha Karikalan was named after this legend...

I was in complete shock when I saw the announcement video of bhool bhulaiya on my TH-cam homepage. I have very little hope of BB3 becoming hit, it can be a hit if only released on diwali or dusshera.

Hope to see Marudhanayagam on screen, it was the biggest motion picture in India to be released at that time💯, a few scenes of that movie and one of its songs on TH-cam are proof of that, if Marudhanayagam was released then, it would have changed the face of Indian cinema and Kamal Haasan the artist, I don't want to believe that it is abandoned, I'm waiting for this cinematic miracle ❤️❤️❤️

So companies back out of contract and Marudanayagam was alsp affected..The twin tower attack also was a reason for some Amercian companies to back out I think...
Thanks for the special mention about Kamal Haasan's Maruthunayagam .. it would have been a cult classic if it was released and a household name. One of the movies where we will miss Kamal Haasan's brilliant direction is this movie. It is said by Kamal that since Maruthunayagam was abandoned due to various reasons in a fit of anger he made the movie Hey Ram which is another cult classic. If we still look at the small rushes of Maruthunayagam it puts to shame some of the warrior movies made in India now. Imagine at that time with minimal VFX Kamal Haasan with his brilliance could do so much .. what he could do now if he had the technology and youth .. no wonder he is one of the best.
I was so pumped for Ashwatthama 😞😞 it was such a bummer when they announced it has been shelved indefinitely🥺 I mean how many sci-fi movies do we even get in Indian cinema?? Just the wild possibilities of what the project could have been keeps me wondering!!! Hopefully it may see the light of day someday🤞🤞
I don't have much hope on Project K. prabhas is just constantly choosing tentpole type projects in hopes of creating a franchise and they are turning to be awful lol, because all the project he has done since Bahubali 2, doesn't have a single competent filmmaker in it.. the posters that they shared for Project K, looks like a copy of Dune
As a Tamil, Marudanayagam has to be one of the most awaited movie here. It’s crazy how the movie still holds a true hype amongst people here in TN. Fun fact: the cannon shown in the movie Vikram was meant for Marudanayagam. I remember some fans got crazy in the cinema hall for a glimpse of it.

The main reason of successful bhool bhulaiya franchise is Tabu and Vidya Balan. And Tabu didn't even nominated for best actress category where Karthik winning it despite more deserving actors like Hrithik , Ajay .
Today's award show is not based on performance...It is based of Attendance...Aao.. naacho..award leke jaao...Big stars these days don't give a shit...only national award is still little bit credible and respectable
I can't believe Abu got shelved! It was such a dream project! It had a huge budget of 50 crores in 1998, which was unheard of at that time! It had ARR as the music director. And it had Chiranjeevi as the lead actor, who was ruling the industry like no other star in 80s, 90s and 00s! It would have been a blockbuster for sure! But I'm glad Chiru is still rocking with Waltair Veerayya. He is the boss!
Bhool bhulaiya 3 can be an epic hit if it combines the worlds of bb1 and 2 in a unique way . As in Karthik aryan's character gets possesed with Akshay(the psychiatrist)rescuing him in the end. The plot accompanied by funny situations and good dialogues would become a great 3rd part
BB2 was below average . Due the drought of decent movies , it was successful. Otherwise it would have been really bad and Tabbu was the main character of it . kartik Aryan was fucking horrible in the movie .

"Randamoozham" was a Malayalam magnum opus film with Mohanlal in the lead role as Bheem, that got shelved. It is a novel by the same name, written by the award winning writer M. T. Vasudevan Nair, which told the story of Mahabharath from Bheem's Perspective. It was supposed to be a pan India film with actors from multiple industries, directed by Shrikumar Menon (director of Odiyan) and produced by B. R. Shetty. But after the critical backlashes of the film Odiyan, M T had taken back the script & is been shelved ever since.
Shrikumar Menon was a bad choice right from the start. After Odiyan, no one has that doubt. But, well, Rajamouli has been planning a Mahabharata film for some time now. If anyone could pull it off, it's him.

Takht would have been a great periodical movie if it was released. I actually became more excited after I came to know about the historical story of this. It's about the war between Aurangzeb's elder brother the right heir of throne and Aurangzeb. It would have been a great spectacular vision to witness some of the famous battle and see red fort during those areas. The story of takht is fantastic for sure
I knew Aswathama will not be made. Atleast not anytime soon. The sere scale that can be seen through the poster is currently more than what Indian cinema can chew. We tremendously lack techs and knowledge. Brahmastra getting released, that's a miracle in itself. But we first need to make moderate level movies/series before jumping into something so big. Pippa looked good, surprised it got delayed. Was waiting for Tumbad director update. Happy to hear he is doing something. He deserves every opportunity.

Shuddhi was based on The Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi. Dharma had the rights from Amish which were revoked after delays. The book trilogy is one of the most popular books among different generations and a movie on it needs mammoth budget. From what was last formalized, Shekhar Kapur got the rights from the author and announced it as well. As a fan of Amish and his books, I hope it is made the PS way.

vikram actually has one more project which is kind of shelved.. that is dhruva natchathiram directed by gautham vasudev menon it first had casted suriya first but later suriya left due to creative differences. But in 2017 a teaser was uploaded of the movie dhruva natchathiram but it still never realeased and its still confusing. This film was shelved in middle because of financial issues too. Nobody knows that if this movie was shelved or is still going on. edit- reports have come out that the film is finally going to return on summer 2023 ( hope this film releases, very excited for this film)
One correction it's not Aditya karikalan, it's the story of his ancestor named Karikala chola who built Kallanai in Trichy, he was the first king who revived chola empire and undefeated at his time
Even there was a project in K'wood where Thalapathy Vijay was to work with director Gautham Menon for Yohan Adhyayam Onnu (Yohan Chapter 1).Even that was shelved.Gautham Menon, BTW, has some hit movies in his kitty -Vettaiyaadu Villayaadu, Vaaranam Aayiram, Achcham Enbadu Madamaiyada, Ennai Noki Paayum Thotta, Yennai Arindhaal, Kaakha Kaakha, Vendhu Thanindathu Kaadu and Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya, etc.
After seeing this video I suddenly realised that how much passionate artist kamal sir is. Imagine he had invested his own 8 crore for that movie at that time.
Oh man, i really wanted a standalone villain film on Khilji honestly, only because of Ranveer Singh & Aditi Rao Hydari, like i crave for a very good unhinged villain character (like how they did joker) 🙌 and aditi looked ethreal with such tragic character she portrayed, and nothing to do with religion or historical invasion, just talent on screen. On the flipside, Takht on paper feels like House of the Dragon drama (i'm sceptic about ensemble cast, but if they make it, i will watch it) and poniyin selvan already has the throne 👑. Karikalan felt like a good venture, more south indian royal drama and costumes 😍
I hope Pippa gets released soon....was very excited after watching the teaser it would have been an insane theatre experience had it released in theatres in Dec 2022🥺

We know it will sadly never see the light of the day but I'd be curious to know what happened with the project. Hope Sushant is in a better place ❤️

His brother was expertised in sanskrit and Farsi and was mostly grown up among diverse communities from Moslem to Hindus. He was mostly a liberal ruler while Aurangzeb was a fanatic radical ruler who actually wished to impose Sharia across India. Not just their ideology but many stuffs which finally made them go on war against each other and aurangjeb won it and later on tortured his brother in a horrific way. Aurangzeb will be the villain in the movie while his brother will be the protagonist

Kamal hassan recently said in an interview that he may not play the role of marudhanayagam due to his age, but it might be completed with a new actor. I wish Vikram to play the role if the film is restarted.

Marudhanayagam was shelved indefinitely because of budget issues but some also say that there was some political pressure also on Kamal to drop the film. A little context into the background of Marudhanayagam will help u understand it better: Marudhanayagam was actually born into a Dalit family in South TN. Not able to tolerate the atrocities leashed on him and his family by some of the powerful people of upper castes, he converted to Islam, changed his name to Yusuf Khan and joined hands with the British. He helped the British to capture and kill Puli Thevar, a freedom fighter (also an upper caste chieftain) who refused to pay taxes. Because of Marudhanayagam's Islamic background and Puli Thevar being considered in high regard by the upper caste people of South TN, there was some political pressure on Kamal to cancel the film.

Main issue of all these shelved projects.. almost 95% of the problems is due to MONEY...!! creative differences..& cold wars are also the reason..but MONEY is the major culprit...! Especially for KH shelved films..
I will add two to the list 1. Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru(Adhyayam Ondru means Part -1) By "Gautam Vasudev Menon" which could have been a turning point in Thalapathy Vijay's career,at that time most of his films were failures and had the same kind of stories like always , as a genuine Vijay fan I was so disappointed that the project got dropped, Vijay should have given it a try he did somany bad movies during that period and it was also the time where Gautam Menon was the real deal. 2 . "Nair San"- staring Mohanlal and Jackie Chan : I still find articles on many sites that the film might get made but I'm not sure,it is about "A.M Nair" an Indian freedom fighter. I don't want to call it dropped because I really want that to happen after seeing Lalettans current situation

Chandni chowk to china deserves a sequel to be made , because of below par 3rd grade quality comedy movies now being made in today's time by legend farhad "nolan" samji . So if any production house decide to take this franchise forward it will make revolution in comedy genre.
I hope we get to see takht someday. The cast is epic, I’m sure the story and the cinematography would be too. Can imagine something like an Indian game of thrones. And even Ashwathama, that story would be cool too
It's like actors working as stocks. This move by Karthik Aaryan yesterday showed how insecure and volatile the actor's own perception of themselves become. Just after a flop their marketting teams wanted to uplift their images and stocks with lazy amateur unoriginal sequels. I remembered what Anurag Kashyap said whenever I'll need money-pouring-producers I'll announce wasseypur 3. 😂😂
my mother is an ardent Kamal Haasan fan and talked of the film she hoped would release but never saw the light of day. and i caught on to it too and i still wish marudhanayagam is somehow magically revived. i had hopes for takht, i really feel it could've been huge if KJo really meant what he said about resuming Takht, i guess it's gonna take a while till we see the movie; better late than never i guess.
I remember the sad storries of few films, especially Mr.Kamal Hassan and ofcourse Mr.Chiru. South actors not now but back in the day would invest their own money in shelved films just to get it made and released. Mr.Kamal Hassan was in debts till Vikram and ALL that money just went to pay everyone off. Mr.Chiru got lucky, as he got in control but had to do few films to pay debts off for the himself and the producers. BUT that is why South Actors are so RESPECTED and CRAZY LOVED by their people and FANS. I would love to learn just 1 bollywood actor doing this EXCEPT Mr.SRK (who in my opinion is first PASSIONATE and then an Superb actor/Super Star and not a NEPO-douche).
I highly doubt if many would know all these films and names but here we go! Telugu projects that were scrapped or snubbed by actors? Mahesh Babu and Thalapathy Vijay were supposed to star in Ponniyin Slevan. Pawan Kalyan dozed off during Trivikram's narration of Athadu 😂😂! He also said no to Pokiri. He missed out on Ravi Teja and Puri's Idiot and Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi too. Sridevi was the first choice for Shivagami in Baahubali Sukumar pitched a red sandalwood cop story to Mahesh Babu, but it didn't work out. Then he made Pushpa. Maniratnam wanted to make a movie with Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu together. Puri Jagannadh had plans for a movie with Chiru called Auto Johnny. He also had Jana Gana Mana with Mahesh in mind. Pawan Kalyan's Satyagrahi and Prince of Peace (where he would play Jesus) never took off SS Rajamouli and NTR had an idea for a movie called Garuda after Baahubali SSR also dreamed of making a movie on Alluri Seetha Ramaraju with Mahesh Babu Sharwanand and Allu Arjun turned down Arjun Reddy There are many more funny incidents where actors escaped a shit film or just missed a Blockbuster!
Man please talk about Zwiggato. That kind of cinema needs our attention. The whole pan India mass action thing is good and all but it has made us forget the art of cinema.

Looks like commercial and big budget movies along with remakes are at the tipping point of saturation. The announcement of BB2 evoked no excitement. The delay in the release of movies like pippa and immortal ashwathama is heartbreaking. Apart from all these, i genuinely think that slice of life drama kind of movies are very less appreciated or explored in Bollywood. Like malyalam movies, they kept churning out something different every time , have a range of Heartwarming movies. The upcoming 'Gulmohar' is one of that kind but it's not too often that this genre is explored in Bollywood given that it has a whole lot of potential to turn people into theatres if done well.

The Karikalan in the Karikalan movie is not the same... Karikalan was a legendary tale of a prince who fought his uncle for his throne, after being forced into exile when his uncle killed his father... Aditha Karikalan was named after this legend...

So companies back out of contract and Marudanayagam was alsp affected..The twin tower attack also was a reason for some Amercian companies to back out I think...
Thanks for the special mention about Kamal Haasan's Maruthunayagam .. it would have been a cult classic if it was released and a household name. One of the movies where we will miss Kamal Haasan's brilliant direction is this movie. It is said by Kamal that since Maruthunayagam was abandoned due to various reasons in a fit of anger he made the movie Hey Ram which is another cult classic.
If we still look at the small rushes of Maruthunayagam it puts to shame some of the warrior movies made in India now. Imagine at that time with minimal VFX Kamal Haasan with his brilliance could do so much .. what he could do now if he had the technology and youth .. no wonder he is one of the best.
I was so pumped for Ashwatthama 😞😞 it was such a bummer when they announced it has been shelved indefinitely🥺 I mean how many sci-fi movies do we even get in Indian cinema?? Just the wild possibilities of what the project could have been keeps me wondering!!! Hopefully it may see the light of day someday🤞🤞

There are so many other promising movies that were halted for varying reasons. It's part and parcel of movie industry but the film-buffs do wonder and ponder about what could have been.
The main reason of successful bhool bhulaiya franchise is Tabu and Vidya Balan. And Tabu didn't even nominated for best actress category where Karthik winning it despite more deserving actors like Hrithik , Ajay .
Akshay Kumar is also reason for success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 1.

I can't believe Abu got shelved! It was such a dream project! It had a huge budget of 50 crores in 1998, which was unheard of at that time! It had ARR as the music director. And it had Chiranjeevi as the lead actor, who was ruling the industry like no other star in 80s, 90s and 00s! It would have been a blockbuster for sure! But I'm glad Chiru is still rocking with Waltair Veerayya. He is the boss!

Bhool bhulaiya 3 can be an epic hit if it combines the worlds of bb1 and 2 in a unique way .
As in Karthik aryan's character gets possesed with Akshay(the psychiatrist)rescuing him in the end.

"Randamoozham" was a Malayalam magnum opus film with Mohanlal in the lead role as Bheem, that got shelved.
It is a novel by the same name, written by the award winning writer M. T. Vasudevan Nair, which told the story of Mahabharath from Bheem's Perspective.
It was supposed to be a pan India film with actors from multiple industries, directed by Shrikumar Menon (director of Odiyan) and produced by B. R. Shetty. But after the critical backlashes of the film Odiyan, M T had taken back the script & is been shelved ever since.
Shrikumar Menon was a bad choice right from the start. After Odiyan, no one has that doubt.
But, well, Rajamouli has been planning a Mahabharata film for some time now. If anyone could pull it off, it's him.

Takht would have been a great periodical movie if it was released. I actually became more excited after I came to know about the historical story of this. It's about the war between Aurangzeb's elder brother the right heir of throne and Aurangzeb. It would have been a great spectacular vision to witness some of the famous battle and see red fort during those areas. The story of takht is fantastic for sure

Shuddhi was based on The Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi. Dharma had the rights from Amish which were revoked after delays. The book trilogy is one of the most popular books among different generations and a movie on it needs mammoth budget. From what was last formalized, Shekhar Kapur got the rights from the author and announced it as well. As a fan of Amish and his books, I hope it is made the PS way.
I'm a bit sad that Bhool Bhulaiyaa went from being an Akshay Kumar franchise to a Kartik Aaryan franchise. I hope Akshay Kumar has a role in BB3.

vikram actually has one more project which is kind of shelved.. that is dhruva natchathiram directed by gautham vasudev menon it first had casted suriya first but later suriya left due to creative differences. But in 2017 a teaser was uploaded of the movie dhruva natchathiram but it still never realeased and its still confusing. This film was shelved in middle because of financial issues too. Nobody knows that if this movie was shelved or is still going on.
edit- reports have come out that the film is finally going to return on summer 2023 ( hope this film releases, very excited for this film)

Even there was a project in K'wood where Thalapathy Vijay was to work with director Gautham Menon for Yohan Adhyayam Onnu (Yohan Chapter 1).Even that was shelved.Gautham Menon, BTW, has some hit movies in his kitty -Vettaiyaadu Villayaadu, Vaaranam Aayiram, Achcham Enbadu Madamaiyada, Ennai Noki Paayum Thotta, Yennai Arindhaal, Kaakha Kaakha, Vendhu Thanindathu Kaadu and Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya, etc.
After seeing this video I suddenly realised that how much passionate artist kamal sir is. Imagine he had invested his own 8 crore for that movie at that time.
Oh man, i really wanted a standalone villain film on Khilji honestly, only because of Ranveer Singh & Aditi Rao Hydari, like i crave for a very good unhinged villain character (like how they did joker) 🙌 and aditi looked ethreal with such tragic character she portrayed, and nothing to do with religion or historical invasion, just talent on screen.
On the flipside, Takht on paper feels like House of the Dragon drama (i'm sceptic about ensemble cast, but if they make it, i will watch it) and poniyin selvan already has the throne 👑. Karikalan felt like a good venture, more south indian royal drama and costumes 😍
It was characterized based on a poet's imaginary poem on Khilji. In reality Khilji never met the king or the queen.

Not just their ideology but many stuffs which finally made them go on war against each other and aurangjeb won it and later on tortured his brother in a horrific way. We shouldn't be judging without knowing anything. Moreover, if there are slight changes made for stories to look a little more interesting then there's no harm in it. Marudhanayagam was shelved indefinitely because of budget issues but some also say that there was some political pressure also on Kamal to drop the film. A little context into the background of Marudhanayagam will help u understand it better:
Marudhanayagam was actually born into a Dalit family in South TN. Not able to tolerate the atrocities leashed on him and his family by some of the powerful people of upper castes, he converted to Islam, changed his name to Yusuf Khan and joined hands with the British. He helped the British to capture and kill Puli Thevar, a freedom fighter (also an upper caste chieftain) who refused to pay taxes.
Because of Marudhanayagam's Islamic background and Puli Thevar being considered in high regard by the upper caste people of South TN, there was some political pressure on Kamal to cancel the film.

2 . "Nair San"- staring Mohanlal and Jackie Chan : I still find articles on many sites that the film might get made but I'm not sure,it is about "A.M Nair" an Indian freedom fighter. I don't want to call it dropped because I really want that to happen after seeing Lalettans current situation

Chandni chowk to china deserves a sequel to be made , because of below par 3rd grade quality comedy movies now being made in today's time by legend farhad "nolan" samji . So if any production house decide to take this franchise forward it will make revolution in comedy genre.

my mother is an ardent Kamal Haasan fan and talked of the film she hoped would release but never saw the light of day. and i caught on to it too and i still wish marudhanayagam is somehow magically revived. i had hopes for takht, i really feel it could've been huge if KJo really meant what he said about resuming Takht, i guess it's gonna take a while till we see the movie; better late than never i guess.

I remember the sad storries of few films, especially Mr.Kamal Hassan and ofcourse Mr.Chiru. South actors not now but back in the day would invest their own money in shelved films just to get it made and released. Mr.Kamal Hassan was in debts till Vikram and ALL that money just went to pay everyone off. Mr.Chiru got lucky, as he got in control but had to do few films to pay debts off for the himself and the producers.
BUT that is why South Actors are so RESPECTED and CRAZY LOVED by their people and FANS.
I would love to learn just 1 bollywood actor doing this EXCEPT Mr.SRK (who in my opinion is first PASSIONATE and then an Superb actor/Super Star and not a NEPO-douche).

I saw the Pippa trailer and I thought it could have been a masterpeice war movie like URI or the Gazi attack
Looks like commercial and big budget movies along with remakes are at the tipping point of saturation. The announcement of BB2 evoked no excitement. The delay in the release of movies like pippa and immortal ashwathama is heartbreaking. Apart from all these, i genuinely think that slice of life drama kind of movies are very less appreciated or explored in Bollywood. Like malyalam movies, they kept churning out something different every time , have a range of Heartwarming movies. The upcoming 'Gulmohar' is one of that kind but it's not too often that this genre is explored in Bollywood given that it has a whole lot of potential to turn people into theatres if done well.
'Thuramugham' is releasing on March 10th.
