I was just about to play the last game of the season in D2, needing 1 point for promotion and for some reason I watched this first. I took on board that tip of pausing and letting play catch up and watch fror players making runs and soon after scored the opening goal. From there I kept on with the fake shots and pauses and made it comfortably through that match and now in to D1.
Keep the tips coming I'll probably need them next season! :D
Oh also - sometimes fake shots become a total fail and the player shoots instead even though I'm using X then A rather than B then A. It's timing related ?

With regards to the fake shot, X and A is slightly faster I think, so use that, and yeah it will be timing related if you're accidentally shooting
Yeah I'll have to practise it, sometimes players just roll the ball away in a short pass..

Thanks for another video, Joe. I look forward to more of this (including watching you playing against a high pressure opponent). Just to make sure: when you do start and stop, you only press LB or LT? Is there a use for RB in dribbling or finesse moves? Also, do you use any custom settings like manual passing (i.e. not computer assisted)? I see your triangle pass at 5:07 seems much quicker than what I can do when I play. Are you pressing some buttons when you made that pass or using some custom control settings? Thanks again.
1. I only use LB to stop.
2. There may be a use for RB, I never use it though.
3. All my controls are assisted, bar semi-assisted crossing & manual lobbed balls. I used to use manual through balls on FIFA 13 but on this game it just puts you at too much of a dis-advantage.
4. No special buttons being pressed there. I just knew which pass I was going to make before it got to the players feet.

Thanks, Joe! You're the best. You respond to us unlike a couple of other TH-cam gamers. Keep making the videos. As I mentioned, I'd love to see how you play against a high pressure opponent. I keep losing games against such players and can't seem to replicate that myself (custom tatics?). Btw, I watch the ads that come with your vids in full. I hope everyone else does that because you really put effort and time in making these videos and they are way much better than any tutorial/tip videos out there.

Really great videos. I think I need the most help with dribbling in tight spaces, I feel like I rely too much on crosses and I just moved up to FUT Div 7 and I know they're going to make me pay for that.
You'd be surprised. People rely on crosses throughout the divisions, but obviously it's easier if you have more variety in attack

Joe, I was wondering, I Used the fake shot all the time, but in fifa 14 the huge touch after they do it is awful. Have any tips on how to do it like you did in the video.
It will be a long touch if the fake shot is only done slightly, i.e. less than a 40 degree angle. If you do it in another direction then it's usually a lot more sharp.

You won't always be able to move off fast as the feint requires slowing down

this looks a little set up, in your second clip with muller, you step away from a man easily, and then he proceeds to SPRINT a good 20 yards away from muller. its like your opponent is trying not to get in your way.
Lol, it's not set up. Watch the start mate. I press 'start' to find a match and I'm matched up with him, as you can see from the team selection screen at the beginning of the video.
Love the video, but I can often pinpoint my failures offensively. However, I have NO idea what I'm doing wrong defensively. I feel like every opponent I play is ALL OVER me when I have the ball, but when they have the ball, I struggle putting any pressure on him. I think I'm really just using the wrong buttons.... What am I supposed to use on defense? Do I just keep switching and holding L2 and guarding the ball, do I start holding X? Do I repeatedly hit X? Or do I only hold L2 and try to move into the right position to press circle? I'm really frustrated right now and I'm on my third controller already. Yes, I probably have an anger problem when playing this game, but that's besides the point lol.
The way to defend is, imo, mark the runner, and hold R1 (RB) to press the player on the ball. I'll try expand in another video.
When you feel you're getting pressed all the time it's probably due to people holding R1 and using the controlled player to press you down, meaning there's always 2 players on you at once... which in turn leaves space, which is where the quick dribbling moves come in use. It does require practice though to beat high pressure players.

@ 2:19, Pressing L1 makes your off ball player make a run? I thought you had to hold L1 and pass to make your player cut
You can do it both ways. Pressing L1 when you have the ball with a player makes another player make a run, holding L1 whilst passing makes the player who made a pass make a run

Okay. I'm strugging with legendary with default user settings. I play better when I set the user to be faster than the cpu team but my friends and I play tournaments for cash with default settings and I can't come close to a win
Yeah I wouldn't mess with sliders as I consider sort of cheating really... some are fine but changing speed etc I wouldn't do. I very rarely play offline as I just find the CPU unrealistic
I realise that now and hence I'm playing default sliders. I play with barcelona and I'm still trying to figure out the right formation for my team. I'm currently experimenting the 4-4-2 formation
