    I’m trying cold turkey. I’m 2 weeks in right now and actually I feel fine. I used to smoke every single day and weekends would be all day. Ever since I quit I became more aware of everything in my life. I got out of a toxic relationship, putting in longer hours at work, saving money more, and eating healthier.

    Girlfriend and i broke up after 2 years together. 1 year living together. And 4 months later my dad passed away from cancer. This happened all this year and all ive done is smoked every day. I'm so tired of weed being my personality. Marijuana controls me, i dont control it and its becoming a serious problem. Mark my words, i am quiting. 24 hours in right now but still staying strong

      Thanks for sharing man. It’s great you’re addressing grief head on. This will allow you to properly heal and no longer need to turn to seed. One of the guys I was coaching and who’s also in the community was using weed for cover up a death and now he’s properly addressed it by quitting. Powerful to see

    3 DAYS!! 3 days is all it takes to get over the withdrawal. You're going to be bored AF, so stay busy! Keep your mind occupied on something. You'll most likely have insomnia so plan on being awake all night on day 1-2.. Day 2 is WAY easier than Day 1.. It's just as boring but the cravings of smoking are reduced about 50%. Day 3, I was so proud of having 2 days clean, Day 3 was a lot easier. I didn't even feel like an addict.

      i have no problem with the first 5-6 days. then after a week or so the anhedonia hits me like a truck. and it comes and goes for another few weeks until I feel almost manic, as if I were high all the time (without smoking). The hypomania, while somewhat enjoyable, is a trigger for relapse as well, and other unideal behaviors
      I have been '3 months sober' many times. But it always comes back, always justify it, then end up dependent again haha

    Weed is crazy for me, I have smoked my whole life since i was 16, I am now 44.
    Sober me wants to get high, high me says WTF why cant you stay sober... So weird.
    I went all of 2021 without smoking as a challenge to myself, it was great. I am now considering the end of my Weed days...

      I’m in the same boat! I’m 21 I started when I was 14/15. I gave my life to Christ and struggled with it until in 2020 I dropped everything I felt I personally liked and went full on Jesus mode. From the end of 2022 to now I relapsed and I hear those words all the time! “Why aren’t you high”
      “ I need to stop getting high” ! I think I just need God lol

      The cravings come from a low dopamine state- which obviously your brain will be in for a short time when you don't smoke weed. So once you re-up your dopamine by smoking, the cravings go away and you can think clearer again about your true goals.

      So theoretically, once you make it past the withdrawal period post quitting, the cravings should subside and you will be aware and happy with yourself for being on the right path.

    I quit drinking alcohol two years ago and felt like that was enough. But it wasn't. Two months now without weed and now I know for sure that that was the correct decision! I already go to or three days without even thinking about Pott at all. And now I have absolutely no guilty conscience and I feel absolutely great! Sober feels so good!

    Appreciate the video. I smoked non stop for the better part of the last 25 years...i am 51 and needed to change my life. I am 1 week down...its been harder than i thought. So many emotions and feeling like crap. But i am determined. 💪🏾

    I’m going to give this a try! I’ve slowly been weening off weed and it’s been much easier than quitting cold turkey when I had countless nights of no sleep, sweating profusely, and no appetite. I began documenting every time I smoke and waiting longer than the day before. 🙏soon I’ll hopefully get back to being sober full time.

    the most relatable part of this video is when you talked about the grieving process. im trying to quit after being a daily smoker for years. none of my close inner circle really smokes, so when i tell them im sobbing crying from missing smoking they don't grasp it. they just think it's dramatic. but i literally am grieving it. i had to go cold turkey off opioids twice after they took control of my life and this is genuinely harder. everything reminds me of weed. i tried going cold turkey and it was AWFUL, so now i'm slowly weening off and it is so depressing knowing that i'll have to lose it soon. feels like i lost a person.

      hahahaha i went about two weeks and fell back in to my old routine. the end goal is still to quit. but ive weighed out my life stresses atm and i dont think quitting now is good timing, and that's okay too :) wishing for the best for you

      I feel you. I’ve fallen back so many times myself… I went sober earlier this year for about 2 months. The depression episode was insane. And I’ve been back on the green since then. Finally worked up the courage to quit again this weekend .. I am so bored rn cause I don’t know what to do with myself. This is my first time seeking out a support system with it though. Also have been in the habit of shaming myself for relapses. But I like that the goal is to ultimately quit. That’s my goal too.

    Had a paranoia induced meltdown after smoking recently. I had managed to cut down to just the weekends after all day everyday using, but that was the final straw. Now I’m saying goodbye and grieving my use, I know the next weekend will be tough but the time has finally come

    This was a very relatable video, thanks for making it. I have been binging videos on the subject as I went to zero consumption for the past 7 days and got anhedonia really hard and cracked, hit my cart vape. I've cut down so much over the past year or so, to consuming only one 0.5g cartridge per month. You'd think the withdrawal symptoms would be non existent, but I've been using THC as a cope for two decades. I've had several sober periods in the past so none of this is unfamiliar, but for whatever reason each time I do it, I gotta watch videos or read peoples stories about it to get through it.

    Cold turkey, now it’s been 2 years, at the beginning I was cranky, band mood that only people around me noticed. I lost my appetite, I started to feeling sleepy some times during the day. TBH sometimes I still have craving but I cut so many friends that I don’t have the influence to try it. And now the new people I meet are healthy in that way, that keep me mentally healthy and strong. More people need to watch your videos and over come that teenager stage!

    thank you for sharing your story, ive been smoking since 18 im now 27 and trying to take the steps to be able to quit i struggle with cptsd and clinical nightmares so im terrified of the memories to come back tbh..but seeing you were able to quit and deal with it and handle it makes me very hopefully for my path.

    Pot is my LAST VICE. After I quit using pot I will be free of everything, even junk food!
    I am just totally lost on where to start and my pot use isn't having any severe consequences (yet) so I have to work hard to muster motivation/initiative. I am also the only person in my life telling me to stop (literally my friends and family haven't said anything).

      You’re welcome mate. That’s huge! Junk food is not easy to quit. In terms of weed, that’s why I think slow n steady is key because you can essentially train your self to quit marijuana without needed to do something super drastic.
      Also it’s important to remember no one else is responsible for our recovery. It’s between us and our higher power. To expect others to step in and rescue us is a recipe for disappointment and resentment

    I am a Korean American and have been smoking weed everyday for the past 5 years. I will be quitting cold turkey today 8/27/2023.
    I have let my parents know of my use and having them keep me accountable. I’m a bit worried about the anxiety and depression as my dog is at his end stages as well..
    This needs to be done and it will be hard…

      You can do this my friend. If this Korean American can, so can you. It will be hard, you’re right. Maybe one of the hardest things you ever do. The strength it will give you will be worth every second of that pain.

    I like your personal approach dealing w your road to quitting.. I watched another of your videos where you mentioned your experience and it mirrors my own, or vice versa. This is my 3rd attempt this year because I’m tired of the guilt I feel hiding it from my family. been smoking for maybe 4-5 years, around 8 Prerolls infused per month. It might not be a lot but it’s been addictive. I quit last month but relapsed a week later. , smoked a couple of joints, 2 grams. But it made me feel guilty so i quit again. I’m starting my second week at the moment and my appetite is back, no nausea, and I been very sleepy. I have a lot of rage and anger still. And it’s very difficult to enjoy life. But I think the slow weaning sort of made it easier to cope this time around. The first time I tried cold turkey and couldn’t sleep for almost 2 weeks, and I felt like a zombie everyday and horribly depressed. The last 3 days I’ve been very sleepy and I’ve been waking up early, 5am. I hope this is a good sign. My memory is also slightly better. And my energy feels like it’s coming back. The depression isn’t as bad either. I’m trying to get as much sleep as possible. I have issues in my life I’m yet to face full on without the use of thc. I’m trying to be realistic though, I do enjoy smoking, it’s helped me cope w anxiety and depression. I’d like to be able to smoke once in a blue moon without the fear of going through having to quit again with all the side effects that come w it. Anyway, sorry for the long rant. But your video makes sense.

    Great video brother, I’m on day 2 of quitting cold turkey. I’m either all in or all out I tried the night time smoker thing and couldn’t do it I’m like a drug fiend 🤦‍♂️ so cold turkey it is. I made it 33 days a little while back and than fell right back in but making it the 33 days before is helping me know I can do it. I don’t have to quit and nothing happened it’s just controlling my life and I gotta get shit back on track. Good luck eveyone we are in it together

Just found you today and was planning on going cold turkey from tomorrow being as it's magical 29th of feb today - but then i found this video and for the first time I can see a path forward where I actually get control over it little by little. My sis did this approach with food and was the easiest 25kg she's ever lost. Im inspired!

    Good video , appreciate it . I am so ashamed and angry at myself for letting weed take over my life ... The past 11 years of my life I've been smoking weed , but for the past 5 years , it really took over my life . I was only smoking in the evenings (save some weed for the next day) but I didn't improve my life in any way , working a job I don't care about , to have money to buy weed , to relax from work , and that was the never-ending loop for the last 5 years of my life . This time I decided to quit cold turkey , and I must make sure it's for good this time. Unfortunately some lessons can only be learned the hard way .

    Have been attempting quitting several times, and those sweaty nights filled with intense dreams I can very much relate to. That is my biggest enemy. I feel like the rat in the lab, whom was given two buttons (one was giving water, other one was giving water mixed with cocaine)... Poor rat had been pushing the button with the cocaine, until he died :( I do know it was not the fault of the cocaine, nor it is the weed in my case. I'm introverted and spend most of my time alone (just that poor rat), while the circumstances for others might differ and they are more comparable with the control group of rats, whom were in a social group with toys and they were more likely to choose the pure water and having fun with their buddies instead of non-stop pressing the cocaine button. They still have been pressing the cocaine button on occasions thou...

    I’ve been decreasing and changing my use in order to reach the end goal. I’m trying to get to the stage where I only smoke in the evening like you said, but I’m struggling to maintain that. Sometimes I am successful but also at times I’m not and I end up going all day. This video is really helpful, and comforting. Slow and steady is so true, really want to push past this point and feel good about myself the way you did when you reached that stage. Maybe this video will be the push.     What if you’re not a chronic smoker? I’ve tried the quitting method, my method in the past being I want to go from smoking weed every night past 7 PM to only smoking once a week. And then ending up at not smoking at all. Because personally I’m not a daily user considering I don’t function well at work with it so it forces me not to smoke during the day but I’ve become tired of having my brain addicted to my night routine because it’s been affecting my morning routine/excersicing routine. I’m always lethargic and weirdly enough I find myself in tense paranoid states when smoking. I want to just go cold turkey and am seeing a therapist currently.

      Thanks for sharing, Karla. It sounds like you know deep down what you have to do. I suggest the next step is to start setting small goals to go a night off smoking a couple times and build from that until it gets easy and then go half a week, a full week so on so forth. Build upon your wins. The cold turkey approach works for some too if you’re willing to go through some pain. Therapy can be helpful, just make sure they’re not inadvertently okaying or minimizing the effects of your weed habit.

      Great question, I think it would be wise to try to go pure cold turkey first and see how long you can embrace sitting with the desire to smoke. You may surprise yourself. For most I’ve seen that cravings usually go away after a week or two so if you can make it to then, chances are you’ll be golden

    Ngl because I have clinical depression, every time I quit cold turkey, all of that shit hits me like a truck. I’m talking all the way down to suicidal thoughts, breaking shit I spent money on, etc. every time I do it I have to stay completely to myself so that I am not a detriment to others. After about a month I find that I am back to normal.

      @@SobrietyUniversity I have tried, going from about a quarter ounce a day, to 1 gram a day to eventually completely off over the span of 2 weeks. It’s not as bad, but you have to consciously fight the urge to want to smoke. Makes it more enjoyable and gratifying to be fair but once I was off of it, the urge to smoke lingers for about 2 weeks after completely stopping. I have gotten to the point where I quit for months, was sober, healthy, and losing weight…. But I just keep coming back. Going to get a diagnosis for my mental illnesses and get treated. It’s tough but it can be done. Just need to take your mind off of it.

      @@SobrietyUniversity I want to say weed for me is a suppressant. I have ADHD, and clinical depression so it’s constant tiredness and racing thoughts. A paradox of issues, if you will. Weed makes that quiet for me, however there are other medications that do this as well, without the detractors (laziness, memory loss, degradation of cognitive function, etc.) So I think my issue is being on the wrong medication. I’ve just been scared of things like Vyvanse and Adderall because I don’t want to form a stimulant addiction, and then get actually strung out on drugs.

I took vyvanse for a while and daily meditation helped me tackle it naturally. I think a hyperactive mind can be a huge asset once honed properly.

    Is it possible to taper off cannabis by using less and less powerful weed? I use 20%THC everyday for a month not all the time but most of the day. But I got medical cannabis 20%CBD/ 3%THC. SHould I use that one in order to make it easier to taper off? Thanks

      Great question. That’s exactly what I did. Went from dabs to flower. Once that got normal, was a lot less painful to quit

    I wish weed was so popularized with those stupid “weed is a plant not a drug” and “you can’t be addicted to the weed itself”
    It just really warped all that it means considering I’m battling addiction as an addict to cannabis. 5 years smoking, started to binge drinking multiple nights in a month- that when I decided to get help.
    And honeslty nights like this I wonder if I’m really addicted or do I just suck at being a cool stoner ie always wanted to be. I even tell myself how I was cleaning for the summer last year and maybe I’m being too dramatic now about quitting.

      Love it man. Chris, the guy who I recently did a show with is a coaching client and a big reason he quit was to connect with his wife and kid more. That's a great motivator. Would having some monthly calls like Chris potentially be beneficial for your recovery and speeding along the process?

      @SobrietyUniversity absolutely it would help I absolutely wouldn't shy away from aid in this endeavor also I was in WA state but I'm in FL now and the biggest issue I have is the that delta 8 is available in vape and smoke shops and it's not regulated

      @SobrietyUniversity will do sorry been on dad duty update...I have sent a email also well I have access to delta 8 I also can get delta 11 and THC A and P I have been using THC-A to keep off the withdrawals and only when the withdrawals get to hard to deal with but I have reduced the frequency of my smoking

    If I could get past the seven day mark I know I’m good but it’s really hard and it’s embarrassing to talk about because people don’t take it seriously when you talk about weed withdrawals because people think it’s just Weed or think ur a crackhead if I had a choice I would’ve never smoked weed I was so high off life and went all throughout high school without smoking anything addiction is powerful and this is why I don’t judge people for doing other drugs we just addicted to different things

      This plant has been there since day 1 of humans. What ever the origins of humans, cannabis was there. We have these amazing cannabinoid receptors all through our body, we are designed with this plant in our genetics. The problem is this amazing nector this plant produces to seduce us, which I think was done on purpose as humans were starting off. I have grown this plant in corn fields, swamps, tops of buildings, you name it, I tried to grow there,lol.

    This is so sad life sucks only reason I stopped is because I needed a better job but I miss weed every day and crack heads and heroin addicts work perfect jobs because it gets out of nurses doctors even lawyers all do cocaine and heroin because it gets out of the system fast. Never had any of these symptoms I quit cold turkey this guy acting like weed is crack clown

    I’m 3 weeks cold turkey after waking and baking and smoking all day for years . Intense withdrawal. Dreams are crazy . Happy hormones are hard to come by right now. Want to pull my hair out.

    I’m 3 months 6 days without booze, 6th day no nicotine, and I still haven’t gotten myself to quit oil yet. Hard to imagine how the lack of sleep and having a hard time eating/ nightmares. Decided to get an indica cart instead of a sativa one and cbd gummies to help sleep too. And instead of coming to work high or spending my day off from the start of being high. I’ll do it just before work to help ween myself.

      You’re on the path my friend. Slow n steady wins the race. I went from oil, to flower to sober over a couple month period. Whenever I tried to go cold turkey off dabs, it was hell.

    I quit 2 days ago I have smoked heavy for 42 yrs. I'm not worried of pain or not sleeping ...it's the violent tendencies that worry me will I snap easy and hurt someone ? Or will it be ok God I hope it'll be alright cause today I found myself crying amd laughing for no real reason , and to get past some of the problems I gave myself some pain to block out the want for smoke. To top it all off my health is bad and I have problems that give insane physical pain so I'm fighting a double edge sword. I'm a fighter and hope it isn't my last bought cause I'm messed up and praying 🙏

      It’s part of the process of moving forward. I too had those feelings at the beginning, ready to go off, but I’d just go for a run. I still do when I start to get negative. But it’s not as bad anymore.

    ive been subconsciously waning off to be honest. Im at the point now where I smoked a THCA (much weaker than real weed) joint and thought the whole time how much it kinda sucks. Weed has declined in quality lately and ngl theres so many doors closed if you smoke weed consistently. tired of being broker than i should be too lol
