you're anything but alone Darik, I heard in a jordan peterson video (with Dr John Delony) that you start small to make new friends/ find a community. you can start with the lost art of a handshake, and eye contact when greeting someone new. that makes a good impression. find a place like a coffee shop you like, or even a restaurant and meet the register worker, introduce yourself as someone who will be a regular there. something I need to teach myself too: People won't bite you. remember that, people yearn for attention/someone to call them by their name with a smile on a regular basis. That's what a friend is!

Smoked weed almost everyday since 16, stopped for 2 months at 18, but started smoking again. I'm 21 rn, and I haven't smoked for 4 months. I quit cold turkey when I had reached my peak. My problem is when I start smoking I can't stop myself from smoking more everyday. I thought about smoking today, but it's been so long since I had spent so much time without smoking. I'm proud of myself, but I don't know why I'm such an addict in general. I have this constant tendency of wanting to drown myself in something, why can't I just be happy without getting that release? I probably put too much pressure on myself. I just want to be at peace. I can't let myself be.

There are other things in your life that you need to iron out. There will never be “peace” in life because it’s not meant to be a one sided joyride of happiness. Once you become comfortable with being uncomfortable that’s when your predicament becomes your solitude. Every living thing on this planet has some sort of purpose. You weren’t put on this earth just to feel happy. Don’t live for happiness or peace, live for a purpose.

I had a football scholarship I had a girlfriend I had good men around me. The weed and vapes changed me by the time I hit 12th I lost all my friends. I lost my heathy muscles and tan skin. I lost the ability to play football and I lost the focus I had built from pre k till 11th which caused me to drop out. 18 years old now I’m 23 and I haven’t did anything but work and supply my habbits. I was this close to making it out of a hard life I grew up in. Now I’m watching my once called friends Get married move into houses having baby’s and actually look there age. We can always revert to comparison. The next guy is better than the next guy, who’s trying to become the next guy. What you did and what has happened doesn’t have to define what you do going forward. Hit the turf again: run some drills and routes. Work until you’re exhausted. Learn something new: a trades skill, new hobby, or make a spiritual epiphany. Get involved and meet people! This might be hard, so try to volunteer or get involved in your local community center. There’s still time. I hope everything goes well for you my brother. I don’t know who you are, but I will keep you in my prayers.

I really love how you acknowledge that there are valid reasons to smoke cannabis, or consume cannabis, but those valid reasons can’t come before getting sober in addiction. I have an addictive brain, I’ve given up all other drugs, but haven’t been able to give up cannabis, and though I’m not “ready“, if I don’t begin at some point, I’m never going to be ready. Great video!

Cannabis isn't addictive. It has over 400 properties and not a single one is addictive. I'm about to be 45, been smoking since I was 16, stopped during both my pregnancies, started back up and then it became legal in 2016. I've been a medical card holder for 3 years now. Cannabis is my medicine. Getting stoned is a perk! When you have chronic pain and can't take nor want to take pills, weed is the best alternative.

@@420saralouThat’s great that it works for you! But your experience doesn’t speak for everyone else, I believe the addiction aspect is dependent on the person, while I love smoking weed, I was very much addicted to it, I would smoke all day and just ignore my priorities cause I valued getting baked over actually being functional and getting my life together so at that point I really had no choice but to stop, currently on day 9 of no weed, it really was the big obstacle that I had to accept in order to be able to accomplish what I want in life, like I said before if it works, that’s great and more power to you but just because there is no addictive properties in it doesn’t mean that it’s not addictive

I guess where ive always gone wrong is I just think i have to gain control over my habit, rather than totally abstain. So i would go 2-3 weeks sober, and then re introduce weed slowly. The problem is, the control never lasted. Give it another 2-3 weeks of casual use and Id be right back where i started smoking chronically. This is the first time ive realized I can probably never smoke again. Or at least 90 days like you said.thanks for the Info. I always felt like there was no help for weed addiction. Shit’s so hard. I already struggle with insomnia and having no appetite, even with the help of weed. My father has been a daily user since he was 14, and unfortunately I fell into the same habit at 16 as he’s always taught us it’s ‘medicine’ and even encourages me to use it whenever I complain of nausea/anxiety/pain. I’m now almost 22 and i’ve never spent a single dollar on weed (father’s ..resources..), and I can’t remember the last time I went more than 3 days without, which just makes it 10000x harder because it’s so easily accessible. Literally all I have to do is walk out into the dining room and there’s about $100 worth on the table, readily accessible at any given point in time.
Everyone in my house is high 24/7, but I believe I have ADHD and to get any sort of medical help for that I have to do a drug test… if I can even just quit for long enough to pass a pee test & just go back to recreational i’ll be happy. But I don’t see it being easy…

Dr. Frank, thank you. I discovered your channel earlier this year when I was trying to quit weed. I quit for 2 months, relapsed, and now I am on day 7 of quitting once again. A close friend of mine had been on his journey of sobriety, but sadly he could not push through anymore and he took his life in august at 22 years old. I want to say to all of you, please keep pushing.

Context? Why quit in the first place, I worked a FIFO job, 2 weeks in 1 out, smoked an ounce every week off, withdrawal lasted one day if I went to the gym after work the first day. HIIT not weights. I would have to quit for a month to pass a pre- access D&A test, never had a problem. Now I'm retired and have no need to quit. I'm healthy, active and financially stable. Why quit? I quit drinking and tobacco decades ago because it had a detrimental effect on my life, the weeds all good.

It's been 2 years after I quit. I still feel the exact same as how I did after the first 2 months of quitting. It's been the same ever since. I think I permanently damaged my brain, I have constant brain fog and my social anxiety is the worst it's ever been my entire life. I can't even get myself to text back my childhood best friend and it's been nearly a year.
I smoked dab pens since highschool from when I was 16 all the way to 21, everyday, non stop. I didn't even remember what it was like to be sober during that period. Being high was my sober. I spent well over $15,000 on Dab pens alone, I'd use a gram cart per day. Do not make my mistake, although I doubt those who are still smoking will read this comment on this video. Weed can very possibly disable you mentally.

@@iamwe7035 sounds like BS to you? I'm still continuing to struggle and there is little to no resources for this condition out there. I'm considering getting checked up for an ADHD diagnoses to see if that's the reason to how disabled I still feel to this day. The audacity to call my experience "bs" is astounding and highly narcissistic. I live quite healthy on a day to day basis, a balanced diet and regularly exercising and lifting. But none of that has helped me through this period, nor am I ever going back to smoking again. There are clearly other factors at play and I'm going to do everything in my power to tackle and reverse this damage I've caused to my brain. In the meanwhile, don't you ever accuse me of BS'ing my experiences in hopes to validate your continuation of smoking.

@@SmokeyCRO Unfortunately, I'm still feeling the same. That doesn't mean I'll ever begin smoking again to cause any further damage. Unfortunately it very much is. Its been known for years to have psychological addiction and more current research is showing it can be a physical addiction as well for some people. But no 2 people are the same, and 1 person could quit weed and think nothing of it, while the other gets nausea, anxiety, insomnia etc. The difference between hard drugs and alcohol for example, is that these can actually kill when stopped abruptly. A recovering alcoholic will often be given benzodiazpines to prevent seizures, which can be fatal.
