The real solution is to start refining our own oil and get our products to more markets worldwide instead of selling it at a discounted price, well below market value, to the Americans that we then buy back for market value after it’s been refined. Smith is being narrow minded in my opinion, instead of begging and pleading with trump she should be saying ok we will sell our oil elsewhere and make more money for our people. That would be what’s best for Alberta and Canada as a whole. I understand this government hasn’t allowed that shift to happen but hopefully the next one (Pierre) will understand the common sense of what I said. I think absolutely energy restrictions should be on the table if trump wants to play games with the United States most trusted ally and trading partner, but there should be plans in place to get that energy to other markets so as to not completely destroy the economy
This should finally prove to all Canadians that the Liberals solely care about themselves. They have not once in 9 plus years listened to Canadians. That won’t change now. When we do finally get what the people want make sure you show the Liberals and NDP what ignoring and dividing Canadians gets you.
What are your leaders thinking? I know. They think they can fight Trump, and they think that they have enough support in the right places inside the USA to put pressure on Trump from those very, very few Americans that might be affected by any retaliation from Canada. This is a battle that will only hurt the average people of Canada and will hasten its economic collapse. You think I am wrong? I hope I am, but the way things are going....
This. Canada is now exporting Fentanyl. Just reproduce what the US is doing, regulate importation (mainly from China) of the ingredients required to manufacture Fentanyl. 70% of all people coming on terrorist watch lists come through Canada. 16,000 migrants a month are intercepted trying to get into the US, mainly from South Asia. This means that about 7% of all visitors coming to Canada on South Asia flights will try to sneak across the border. I suspect those 16,000 that are intercepted are sent back to Canada and the majority declare Asylum. This correlates well with approximately 150,000 Asylum claims a year, mostly from Asian countries. I suspect the majority of these claims are those that failed to cross the border. So obviously, the US and Canada has a big and costly problem. Unsurprisingly, it's hard to get an estimate on the cost of these "refugees". Direct help specifically designated for refugees is about $800. This does not include healthcare, and other programs that are designed to help Canadians, but are accessed by the refugees. Assuming that it requires approximately $20,000 for an individual to survive and is subsidized completely by the government, for at least the first year. That comes out to about $ 3 billion dollars of support. Trump has given the Canadian government a huge opportunity to do the sensible thing and control the borders while blaming the Orange Man. We need to seize the opportunity.

I've never been so discouraged in my life. There are zero people with actual power talking anywhere close to sensible in a way that will mitigate or avoid the pain on the horizon, zero people with the resolve to fix the drug and human trafficking problem that is irritating the US, zero people talking about meeting our NATO commitment. On top of that the majority of Canadians don't seem to support these things either. If i didn't own my house I would seriously consider moving to the US to escape this madness.

Canada, the mouse that roared. We should never have been in this situation. We should have always, as a matter of course secured our border and vet people entering our country more thoroughly. Incompetent virtue signalling pathetic political choices in this country have brought us to this place. Now we seem to be dreaming that we will fare well in this trade war…. Most of this country is populated with unserious people who have imagined that it is okay to ignore or sleepwalk through the political process and as a result elect a mentally unstable buffoon as a prime minister. What a disgrace. If Alberta stopped paying transfer payments in this country our economy would implode. I support Danielle Smith as the only adult in our political circus. She is advocating for her province and constituents and I applaud her for not being a jackass like Ford or Trudeau Carney or Freeland and Jughead. Grow up Canada, you are embarrassing yourself.
How exactly is Canada going to pass funding for all of the things needed to secure the border with parliament shut down? He clearly isn't serious about securing the border.
How can anyone trust Trudeau to negotiate the Tariff situation, when we know everything he touches turns to you know. Anyone thinking the tariffs won't affect them isn't thinking very clearly. Yes we want an election, what more can we do to make it so?
This is the end result when u don't invest in military / national security. You get pushed around. Not to mention we SIGNED AN AGREEMENT to spend 2% of our GDP on military that we neglect. If u want to neglect it, then become more independent. You can't have it both ways.
We also have treaty agreements related to border security. Our shared border with the US is unique in the world, and only because each side has signed agreements to help the other side protect its interests. So when more illegals listed on the Homeland Security watchlist enter the US via Canada than via Mexico, it's not as simple as saying "it's not our job to defend the US border", because we have binding agreements that say we are obligated to help them.
Here's a thought, fix the border! Helps us ! It's what the States asked us to do! Helps them ! Wow done! Stop gas lighting the country ,and do the job we hired you to do!!

Oh yes, Americans will feel some short term pain but we will be devastated and our economy will be in shambles for a very longtime! Fix the border…police the drugs…no worries about tariffs. Simple.
@@bluerock4456 because according to progressives borders are racist lol. Trudeau invited the world basically labeling Canada as a sanctuary country to look good to Liberal voters and now the whole country is gonna pay for it. Thank a Liberal voter.
Sums up my own thoughts perfectly.
1000 people were polled for the question regarding retaliatory tariffs. I think its a terrible idea. We should be trying to be as diplomatic as possible before we even consider it.
Election now !!!…..No, YESTERDAY!!!!!!!
Election please put us out of this misery
Yes we want a different Prime Minister but one that will have a seat in parliament.
Plzzzzzz! We need an election! Trudeau has to go
and his cabinet ministers and the NDP leader or should I say non-Leader
Yes I want to rally behind our prime minister... yes it needs to be Pierre Poilievre, and not Trudeau. We need an election yesterday!
Election. Now
Premier Smith has the correct approach. Most of what Trump is saying vis à vis Canada is vindictiveness towards Trudeau, not the country.
I find it kind of bold, how the liberals are at another retreat, when the house is porogued, talk about dining on our dime, gotta squeeze every ladt cent out of us
That's how dictator ships work.
I think Canadians need to listen to Danielle Smith, not Trudeau. She made the CBC interviewers very frustrated with her. She was calm and made total sense.
Canadians can think for themselves...we want an election NOW & Trud OUT! PP for PM!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
No to "retaliatory" tariffs!! We can (and aught to) TALK to one another and sort things out like adults.
Election Now
Fix the border problem. Should have been done years ago. Problem solved
Get Trudeau and his loser cabinet ministers out! Need PP now!
We want an Election NOW.
Election in Canada won't change Trump's stance on tariffs.
Trudeau and the entire Liberals need to step aside and take Jagmeet Singh with them and do the right thing. Call an election now!
Election now!
Quebec doesn’t want Alberta transfer payments anymore! Thank you, we don't want to give you it to you anymore!
Dont agree with retaliation towards the states. Fix the border!!!
Since when do they care what Canadians want ?
Election now!!!!
This is some serious dictator behavior. We deserve so much better. I'm sick of living inside a joke.
How exactly is Canada going to pass funding for all of the things needed to secure the border with parliament shut down? He clearly isn't serious about securing the border.
the best descriptor for him has always been "unserious". Some journalist tagged that back in 2014 and it was spot-on.
Time to change the fauna in Ottawa
How can anyone trust Trudeau to negotiate the Tariff situation, when we know everything he touches turns to you know. Anyone thinking the tariffs won't affect them isn't thinking very clearly. Yes we want an election, what more can we do to make it so?
@@MalcolmInCalgary No, Trudeau has made fun of Trump before and lost any credibility!! :(
@@annettematisz46 I agree. The lunacy to expect respect when you trash him for 4 years.
The high percentage of respondents supporting retaliation puts Canadian irrationality, immaturity, and impulsivity on full display.
It also makes me question who has been asked the questions. Who are the pollsters?
@@DanielleFrederickson yup. Makes no sense. Especially in Alberta.
Election now!!!
Trudeau needs to be impeached
Who is paying for the 210 room resort in Quebec for the Liberal Holiday Retreat?
You are.
@ and you and you and you… yes, us taxpayers! Makes me sick!
We don't want Trudeau, the so-called Liberals or the pathetic NDP, and we certainly don't want Carney, Freeland and the smirking incompetent Ms Gould.
Immediately not next week .Immediately.
Oil and gas, energy and mineral resources should be the carrot, not the stick.
The only thing canadians want Turdeau to do is call a election and then get out of our lives forever!
We want him in prison
I don’t know how he is not in prison for what he did with SNC Lavalin and WE charity.
Yes Brother.
Brian you work as hard as Trump
Election now. No more Trudeau. No more Liberals.
we only need one now so we can hold someone accountable.
Here's a thought, fix the border! Helps us ! It's what the States asked us to do! Helps them ! Wow done! Stop gas lighting the country ,and do the job we hired you to do!!
Thank you Brian. Canadians need a strong leader and we NEED an election NOW
