You can also try this with a somewhat nasally tone as if pretending to mock someone. If you do that part right, it should not be straining or hurting your voice. For the "breathy" sounding notes, warm up by pretending to yawn with as much breath as you can while singing notes, like "Ahh-mum-mum-mum". Yes, these exercises will sound weird, and yes, you will probably feel silly, but I promise it works! Once you get good at using those two types of voices to sing, try switching between the two for the flips, starting slow so you can get the hang of it.
