Good video, that Bauer looks like a good drill. I started buying these hyper tough 20 volt tools from walmart. I first bought the 1/4" impact driver to build a deck for my mom 1.5 years ago, i figured for the price Id be luck if it lasted until the deck was finished but it did really well and still is. Since they I bought a lot of the 20 volt hyper tough tools, recip saw, 3/8 drill(comparable to that black one you tested), circular saw, angle grinder(like design, work good), 1/2 " 2 speed hammer drill(really like). Today I bought the 12" string weed wacker(not very powerful but does the job, wish i would have bought the 13" will 4 amp hour battery but i have 7 2amp hour batterys so just have to swap in a 2nd battery to finish). Theyre just cheap home owner use stuff, id dony think they would hold up long to hard use but for the price im happy. These Bauer tools look pretty decent, I will have to look into them when it comes time to replace this Hyper Tough stuff i have

I have heard people say those Hypertough tools are actually pretty good for what they are. Bauer is probably comparable to Hypertough, maybe a little more comparable to Hart I think...

@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects the crazy thing is that I have a 12 volt and 18 volt warrior and beat the heck out of em and still working like new, I also bought a Bauer 20 volt that stopped working after the 5th use probably a hour use total. The gear drive and motor burnt up/ froze.. I'm thinking I likely just got a bad one as it happens from time to time with most of not all manufacturers.

      Lol.
I know the Bauer is stronger, but the warrior is perfect for light use.. I think the thickest board I used a 2 1)2" hole saw bit was 1/2 or 5/8 Birch plywood with no lag or heat up. That was the 12 volt. The 12 volt outdid a black and decker I had that burnt up drilling the same 2×4 as my 12 volt warrior lol..

The only thing I could think that you could have done to be sure that the 1” bit issue was really a problem with the Warrior (and not the possibly dulled bit) would have been to see if that bit would then still drill a hole or two at about the same speed using the Bauer (after you had recharged the Bauer battery, of course). Still, it seemed clear that the Bauer and Warrior were in different leagues. I have the Warrior’s predecessor, and it performs for me about the same as it did for you. If I have a lot of drilling to do, I have to pull out a corded drill. (Though if there’s a lot of what you just did, I step up to my drill press!) I am pretty invested into the Bauer 20v line, however, and I suspect the drill driver will be one of my next acquisitions - especially after this vid! Great job as always!

Thanks for watching and commenting as always! It's always hard to know how much time/attention/effort to put in these videos. I feel like for a lot of people, they just want to see how much drill they are getting for the money to see if they can cheap out or need to buy better. Every test/review/etc is going to be imperfect and I try to admit that. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for this video an analyzing Harbor Freight's power tools... I have been skeptical that any of their tools are good! But looks like the Bauer is actually a durable drill.

I bought it for basically the reasons you said, lol. Basically, I wanted a decent yet inexpensive drill to put together furniture, help hang pictures, small projects, etc. Luckily, there was an open box one at my local harbor freight, and with a coupon, I got it for $20. Judging by what I've seen, it will fit the bill perfectly. I've got drivers for when more power is needed.

I just had to watch for the good laugh. I'm surprised the warrior was even able to do the 1/2 holes. Good video.

Comparing the Warrior to the Bauer is like comparing a four cylinder pickup truck to a 3/4 ton diesel powered dually.
One is a 3/8" drill, the other is 1/2". One costs three times as much as well.
Nearly 5 years ago now when the Warrior line first showed up in stores I bought two of them at $14.99 on a coupon. (I wanted a spare battery but the combo kit was $4 less on sale than a spare battery). It worked out great because I rarely need to go for a spare battery, and when I do, I get to grab a fresh drill that's not hot from being used with a fresh battery.
At the time I was looking for a quick, cheap replacement for some aging 12v and 14.4v Dewalt drills that all needed new batteries. For less than the cost of one new battery I got two new drills with better batteries. The Warrior easily out performed the 12v Dewalt and has more power and battery life than it ever had and likely matches the 14.4v as well.
I feel it was $30 well spent.
I've since converted a few older drill batteries using the internals of the Warrior battery. I did a few by putting the Warrior internals into an older battery shell, (still using the Warrior charger and charge port), and I did two Dewalt 14.4 batteries by using the top of the original battery and the bottom of a couple of broken Warrior drills I picked up to make an adapter where as I can simply slide the Warrior 18v battery into place. Both worked out well.
So far I've converted two Snap On batteries, one Black & Decker Firestorm battery, (string trimmer), two Dewalt 14.4v batteries, and one Craftsman 18v Ni Cad to use the Warrior batteries the same way. Surprisingly the lower voltage (12v and 14.4v Dewalt drills hold up just fine with the 18v battery). Luckily I had happened on a bunch of warranty return drills that allowed me to cut off the battery slide portion to make the adapters. Often the assembled adapter ads nearly no added length to the tool as the Warrior battery fits nearly completely within the old NiCad battery. In many cases I cut down the old battery shell quite a bit.

Good video. I bought a warrior because my DeWalt chuck was messed up.missed all the light duty stuff a drill could do. Had to use my DeWalt driver with special bits. For heavier stuff I have a half inch DeWalt corded. Still think warrior will make a good addition. DeWalt lasts about a day on charge.probably will get another sometime but they cost a lot more.

Derek note you off hand positions between the red and black drills, could that have led to the second drill over heating?

I think that's worth mentioning but no. The warrior is just simply not up to harder tasks.

Well quite honestly I agree whole heartedly to the guy who done this video.. but I will say that I am very much female & only bought the warrior for decor use ya know the little things but I would like to add that the warrior drill is also very much lightweight as well which it's perfect as well for my tiny hands.. so I do think if more women had this drill they just might get typical good use of having it.. so yes if buying for a woman so she can do her own decor hanging I recommend it as a great starter drill for women or any teenager who's interested in learning about a first drill..

I think thats probably who these tools are perfect for. Someone who does a little bit themselves, but doesn't need a really big expansive power tool system. Thanks for watching!

@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects Truuuuee after watching I wouldn’t need more than the Bauer. For me the Warrior is just not cutting it for 3/4” or larger spade bit holes.
