My friend is a mechanic at a Subaru dealership and on a whim they decided to look up what it would cost to replace the battery and all the components for the battery on this car and it is over $80,000 oh, so you better hope the battery never goes out of warranty.. this is a car I would only lease and never buy
Why would you ever need to replace a whole battery, in the unlikely event there is a fault, cells can be changed out, likely that cost as they have few spare currently as all will be going into ramped production seeing how new a model it is. Prius batteries used to cost huge amounts, after a few years they didn't. It has a multiyear warranty on the powertrain so not really an issue anyways.
The battery, like nearly all current EV batteries, will last 300,000 miles plus. Longer than the engines that power petrol or diesel cars I’d have thought? Of course you could replace the engine, gearbox and all their components but I’m guessing that might not be cheap?
I have to say that it doesn’t really leave me all that impressed. An AWD Prius could do 90% of this same stuff, for a lot cheaper. Subaru should stick to making awesome vehicles like the outback and WRX instead of rebadged Toyota’s
If it had ground clearance and a more standard dash/screen/steering system I would be interested......Paul
That mud road didn't stand a chance. That's the AWD we love.
Impressive mud performance considering the tires!
Great Info. Apreciated.
BEST MOMENT min. 1:00 total average 12,4 kWh/100km :)

80.000$ batteries in a 45.000$ car? How does that add up?
