Still they probably get nearly as much joy watching this fly since its their "baby".

You can't wrap your head around how awesome this aircraft is until you see others in an airshow and then the F22. This thing is light-years ahead of everything else.

You're 100% correct. Saw it last year in an air show in Warner Robins, Ga. Blue Angels were there as well. Blue Angels were the ones who were promoted as something you don't want to miss. And they were awesome. However, this frigging jet was what stole the show. Incredible maneuvering machine. And I'm sure we just witnessed a fraction of its capabilities.

You're right, first time I saw one at an Airshow (2007-2008) it scared me because the maneuvers it pulled were flat spins and stalls. But it just flew out of the situation like no big deal. Been to a lot of airshows and never seen anything like it.

I like how he low key makes fun of the flanker cobra maneuver. I grew up in Michigan, effectively never seeing an Air Force base or AF jet before joining the AF when I turned 18 because I was so blown away and in love with jets. After boot and tech school (Army post called Aberdeen proving grounds) my first duty station was Nellis Air Force base. I’ll never forget a few weeks after reporting to the base was my first air show in 2006 and watching the F22 demo. I was absolutely blown away that it still leaves me speechless.

@@FoxWithTheAngels It'll probably be a long time before they can come up with anything that is a significant enough upgrade over the F-22 to warrant being a replacement. The F-22 was so expertly designed that it really doesnt have any major flaws or weaknesses in its intended role. Sure, some competitors may beat it in certain aspects, but the Raptor is still strong enough to hold its own and no one of those competitors can touch the Raptor overall.
And even if someone does match it, nobody else has the numbers. Having a jet that can beat a Raptor is great and all, but we have 187 or so of them. So unless they can produce numbers to match them, that one jet will have to shoot down all of those Raptors. Not likely.
To my knowledge, the Raptor's closet competitor is the SU-57. However, the Raptor is MUCH more stealthy (even the F-35 beats the SU-57 in radar cross section by a wide margin) and the SU-57 has been plagued by complications with production and judging by recent reports, the Russians are running out of money to keep it funded. In all likelyhood, the SU-57 will never have the numbers.

In 1945 during WW2 in the AAC my father came back from Italy and was waiting for his orders to go to the Pacific Theater at Wright Field, Ohio. While he was stationed there, he took part in disassembling and helped to reverse engineer captured German jet aircraft. They worked on making cut-away views on one of the jets in the machine shop there. He would've been proud to see the F-22. I miss him every day. He was my hero.

I am so damn disappointed I still have yet to see an F22 demo. I almost saw it in 2008 or so but the show became mostly cancelled for financial reasons and they left. I just saw the F35 at Nellis this year do a demo and frankly that plane was pretty damn impressive for a single engine non-thrust vectored aircraft. I expected it to be a bit more compact like an F16, in person, but it's a beast of an aircraft. Flight control systems on F35 seem to be mega capable of making it do abnormal things. Would love to see an F22 and F35 combo demo...that'd be sick.

The Raptor's top speed isn't exactly a mystery...it's not faster than the F-14 or F-15, but I think it accelerates harder. I'm pretty certain it doesn't go past Mach 2.

To those doubting my post, just remember that as of now, the F22 is banned by federal law from being exported in order to protect its stealth technology and classified features. Top speed, range and certain functions/features of the jet are either a rough estimate or omitted completely.

@@nicholasuloth6530 Only you are wrong, and for some reason you and other people that are wrong keep saying this, even if you're wrong.
I don't get why? Perhaps it's the shape, ppl have an illusion of what a jet should look like, perhaps you've seen some Russian air show fighters and decided that's how a fighter should look like?
Well, how about listening to the actual pilots, like the Norwegian F-35 pilot "Dolby" .
      nettsteder.regjeringen.no/kampfly/fagprat/f-35-i-naerkamp-hva-har-jeg-laert-sa-langt-the-f-35-in-a-dogfight-what-have-i-learned-so-far/
And mind you, that was under early development, while it was limited and still lacked several features, hardware and software upgrades.
And, this is traditional flying, in actual combat the F-35 can track a, in reality, unlimited number of enemies simultaneously, and engage several at the same time, at any direction. The pilot can even turn in his seat, see through his own aircraft at an trailing enemy, fire a missile that will flip 180 degree after launch and hit the enemy behind him.
20:1 Kill death ratio at Red Flag, also before the resent upgrades speaks for it self.
