Unlike many fans, I don't want the band back together for recording or tours. That magic cannot be recaptured. However, I am with you on this. I would love for Silverchair to accept a Lifetime Aria together and perform just one song, any of their originals. Daniel, Ben, Chris; choose the song you can play and sing best in the current time. Put your differences aside for this one time. We love you!
Having seen them at every Melbourne show except their first Big Day Out, their brilliance came from the live shows. Along with some great song writing, a mind to experiment and progress their sound they only improved with each album. Although Neon Ballroom wasn't the first to start change styles...Freakshow had Strings (Cemetery), Timpani and even Sitar
Really enjoyed this thanks mate. Imho outside the external influences I guess the real question is how many of us are mates with the people we were when we were 14-16? It's a pretty transient period and we are all pretty different people when we hit our mid 20's-30's. I'd say outside pressures, drugs and health didn't help but more than anything they seem like a good bunch of mates that just grew apart. Great vid.
They were probably one of the first bands to be number 1 on the aria charts and on triple j at the same time early in their careers, an immediate cross over. They were on Recovery and had their posters in TV Hits magazine at the same time. Not many bands had that. Their approach to music matured quicker than people were ready for at the time. But all their albums are fantastic. Growing up with them in the 90’s, was devo when they broke up (the first time) finally Saw them play live at Rock It festival in joondalup in 2006.
You didn’t mention Innocent Criminals playing at Youthrock in Campsie(Orion Centre). It was run by the music teacher at Belmore boys high. . I was one of three judges that night. I think 2JJJ announcer was another. . I’m sure that was the night Sony signed them. This was 1994. Happy to share more. I have my own Chanel “Aussie Vinyl Guy”. I have a piece of there history I don’t think gets mentioned. They were sensational. The contest run for 1 week and they won. Cheers
Such a brilliant live band. I loved them so much They were so ripped off not to have Straight Lines come in at No. 1 in the Hottest 100. It didn't miss out by many votes and I personally know of quite a few people that didn't vote for it cos they assumed it would easily win.
Neon ballroom is also my favourite Silverchair album but I would have to say "petrol and chlorine" and "cemetery" was their first glimpse at a different sound
I wish instead of deleting the stoner metal album i wish they instead decided to make a double album kinda like what judas preist where gonna do back in 1986 where they where gonna release turbo and ram it down as a double album called twin turbos where the first disc would be the heavy stuff then the other disc would be the more radio ready stuff
Neon Ballroom is also my favourite album. It blends the old stuff and new evolution of the band really well. TBH I stopped liking them after that album, Daniel John’s moved too far away from where they started. And yeah Anthem for the year 2000 is their best song
Ive seen different places say stuff like saying their first show was opening for the screaming jets then others saying their first show was opening for pantera and daniel asked phil anselmo something to him which is true.
@@jackko21 Your probably right dude! I just have never seen anything about it? I'm a big fan of both band's and I can only imagine Pantera fans wouldn't have received Silverchair with open arms 😂 Those early 90's metalheads could be brutal! 🤘🐸🤘. 🤘🤠🤘
Kevin shirley would end up working with iron maiden and dream theater i like his production style he keeps things raw like ross Robinson or scott burns
I wonder if One way mule and The Lever came from the deleted album? Talking about the whole Tall Poppy thing, we like to think it's an 'oz thing' but the same thing happened to Elvis. And Justin BIeber, and just about every child star you can name. I can't believe they weren't more sheltered from the storm, so to speak. To think they were the most famous musicians on the planet and lived in their mums and dads houses and had to go to public schools with all the bogans-fuck that, now thats 'oz' like "she'll be right mate" fuckin' hell.

Phenomenal video! Ana’s song saved my life, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a song that captures the disorder so well.
My favorite Silverchair song ever.
14:30 Neon Ballroom is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Hands down. It's a masterpiece.
I really enjoyed this, well spoken, clips were great. Keep it up!

Wow, great story. Hadn't heard that before.

They should be in the hall of fame, same with the baby animals and the angels and the screaming jets.
Ive seen different places say stuff like saying their first show was opening for the screaming jets then others saying their first show was opening for pantera and daniel asked phil anselmo something to him which is true.
Silverchair never played with Pantera
@@Flamebleeder I heard Daniel say it on his podcast

He didnt keep anything from the erased album, hes said that in interviews. So One Way Mule and The Lever arent from that
