Ken, just wanted to thank you for this video, I just brought out my minc machine after buying it a year ago. I couldn't find the instructions so went first to TH-cam to find out about it. I went to your videos and loved the part about printing out a card from my laser printer. I did that and was wowed at the simplicity of the card and how special it looked. Thank you for spending your time to inform us novices. BTW, I love the addition of Sean on your other videos.

I've used the foil several times, but never knew about the trick with the laser printer and laminator. I have used the liquid that you used at the end to make designs on the larger Christmas light bulbs, then applied the foil after the liquid had dried. I then made Christmas ornaments with those light bulbs. They turned out really cute. Thanks for this great video!

Thanks for sharing these techniques, Ken. I've tried to use these before with a special glue & made a mess...the mistake I made, I realize now after seeing your video, is that I didn't give the glue time to dry. I will try it again soon & post the results. I just stumbled upon your video this morning & I like your presentation style. I must add you to my subscribe list & I can't wait to see more videos.

I just bought the deco foil in the hugely popular rose gold color & was worried that I'd have to go to staples for toner sheets, but not after seeing your awesome video; thanks so much for the adhesive idea as I do not have a laser printer, I do have a heat laminator but now I won't have to go to Staples to make toner sheets, but maybe on special occasions I will.

Just saw this video the other day, purchased a monochrome laser printer and laminator. I tried to create the card with the candy cane but not sure how to attach the candy cane to the card in Cricut Design Space. After printing when put back through the Cricut for cutting it cut out the candy cane separately from the card. The foiling however worked great. Thanks for the video, I am learning so much.

Ken thanks so much for this video. I purchased the Anna Griffin Minc on HSN but it is going back since it's defective. Now instead of another I'm going to try using the scotch laminator. I have 6 rolls of the minc foil so I hope they work though I ordered a package of the deco foil to try. This fits my budget so much better. You are such an inspiration. Thanks for the fantastic videos and tips

Hi Ken: Just a little suggestion to add to your video here. Once you have used your foil to make something, let's say your star you used in this presentation. Take a piece of card stock at an appropriate size for a project, cover it with double sided tape. Now take the protective sheet of the other side of the tape and apply the foil with the negative imagine of the start. Burnish it as usual and remove the excess foil. This will leave you with what appears to be a foil background with a negative Star imagine. Remember, that negative star imagine is sticky....so apply another color foil to that space and burnish and removed. You know have a two tone foil image. The mind can go wild with variations to this technique.Jacee.

Terrific. I have been watching Jennifer McGuire's series on foiling and, as I mentioned to her, I remember doing this years ago but could not remember the adhesive I used. I think I might still have some gold foil or flakes hidden somewhere. But I do own Xyrons so I am going to try it with one of them. Jennifer does say that she found the laminator way can't be scratched off and the other ways can. Have you found that to be true too? I love the double-sided adhesive foam method!

    • @KensKreations

Charlotte C some other ways yes it can be scratched off.....even the laminator way can get scratched off if not careful

This was a great video, Ken, I just bought the MINC through HSN for a lot less money than the Heidi one and I just wanted to check with you that this deco foil would work with the MINC. It is a toner type laminator also. I love the other options of foiling too. Have always been afraid to foil for some reason. You have showed it really is easy! Thank you so much. The double sided sticker foam sheets are mentioned - they are listed as the deco foil adhesive foam sheets, correct?

Ken I just found this video and I fell in love. I have a Two Cows laminator from Costco, and I paid about $18 and I found the secret for using mine was to let it heat up for about 20 minutes then they all came out great..It's amazing and looks so spectacular..

    • @pattiepan
      @pattiepan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

Judy Dickson Hello Judy...I had a Two Cows but what Ken was saying is that he had the same problem as I did with mine. when we allowed it to head for about 25 minutes and let it get warm that it worked better and pretty good. My laminator was only about $18 and that's a lot cheaper than the $150 to $175. The expensive ones can heat up faster but they are more tricky to work with from what I was reading. I don't mind the cheaper ones. They don't get as hot but they work. I just have to plug it in about 25 minutes before I'm ready to work with it. pat

You're killing me. Everything you show and I WANT..Been wanting to do foiling, when the quill came out, almost ran out and got it but couldn't afford it. showing this I'm glad you showed the different techniques on HOW to do it. I don't have a lazer printer, or other mechanisms. so for me the last way will have to be the way for me right now. been wanting to get a laminator, but you still need a lazer printer. so those are out. also been wondering what to do with deco foil. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. My sewing, craft room is getting SOOO much smaller since I got my cricut maker. lol finally a question.. can you do last technique on the first shapes you used?? THANK YOU AGAIN. LOVE YOU GUYS. Always bring a smile to my face.

Hi Ken! I've been testing the waters with foiling and while I've been using a laser printer for making a design, most printers cannot handle the cardstock that I had. I had bought the deco foil on sale and was trying to figure out how to use it. I'm so excited to try. Have you tried using 'hot stamp foil', which is different from deco foil? The kind made for hot foil stamping with an electric imprint/embossing machine or handheld heated embossing unit.
Wanted to know if this worked as well with these methods. I saw a youtube video where the guy used just a heat pen; a soldering pen with a rounder nib for writing. He just hand wrote what he wanted foiled, but it turned out really good I thought. Looked professional.

i just saw the new foil transfer that brother has for the scan n cut 2. I think the glue pen will be next for other projects. i love that i don't have to buy a new big machine......, just the speedy kit... never on sale.
i did make plans on doing the foil via my still in the box laser printer and my new barely used thermal laminator. then one of the craft stores clearances out lots of foil... yeah me, for future use.
great job on all your videos

Ken this is great stuff. Im doing a bass drum head with my sons band logo. Its a complicated logo of a weird type face. I noticed in this video you have several ways of putting foil on. On one you put the shiny foil on the sticker foam ( the star and cricket example at 6:36), on the other you put the foil backing down on the written word (I love you example at 8:46). My question, which is the better way to do this? Foil up or down?
Thanks for posting this info, much appreciated.

Hi Ken, love your video on foil. Found it by accident when searching for Jones Tones Foil. I am fairly new to any kind of crafting, and into quite a bit. However polymer clay is my favorite so far and jewelry making which I incorporate the 2 by making my own pendants and beads with polymer clay. Can this product be used much like the Lisa Pelkeva foils for polymer clay, and or crafting. Her foils are so much more expensive than the Decofoil. Thanks for the advice, I look forward to seeing more of your videos.

Love you, just subscribed! I want to use this on an acrylic painting to add WOW factor. I noticed a painting behind you looked foiled. Did you use this foil? Can you make a video of how? Also, I didn't see the link for the glue pen you used. Do you have it? I have only found the deco foil transfer GEL and I need something I can brush on for finer detail. I am going to try TACKY glue too.

I have a laminator and that is great that I can use the deco foil this way for my greeting cards. i have a Prizm machine too with the Shapeabilities. I was going to use it with my Prizm machine but maybe I shouldn't.

Ken can you use a laser color printer and just choose black or does it have to be monochrome? I just don't want to have to have 2 printers.

  • @debbieadolphsen4706

Ken, Thanks so much for the ideas...I did not want to fork out that much for the machine either. You mentioned a monochromatic laser printer. I have a color laser printer. Will it work if I print all my designs in black only? Or, is the toner somehow different.

    • @KensKreations

Cheri Russo i can do that. It is pretty easy. Jus use the print and cut feature and turn all of the colors to black that you want to be foiled.

Hi. I know this is an old video, but I am hoping someone knows the answer. What setting, on your Cricut Explore, do you use to cut the adhesive foam? I have tried a few settings without much luck.
