Some prisons do you have dog and or cat programs and some of them do work with shelters or a rescue as the source for the animals they bring to the prison for the program. It just depends on the prison

Giving certain types of inmates "a purpose" can change many lives for the positive. Imagine if an inmate did their time, got dogs/pups from the pound n opened up a business in training the dogs. That would be a great change and give the possibility that they won't return to their past life style.

seriously. so many dogs in pounds and inmates in jail. it’s such a perfect pair. there may be some factors involved such as; inmates may be incapable of raising dogs, who pays for dog food ! but that’s how inmates can work inside of prison to help pay for their food. taxpayers pay for inmates. inmates can work to pay for their pooches needs

My brother went to high school with a woman that got 25 to life for capital murder because she had her husband stabbed to death just five and half months after she married him. Surprising she did not get the death penalty.

I disagree. There’s a woman with a surname of Atwell and she locked her dogs Ruby and Benji in I think a bathroom for 2 weeks as they laid together in their own feces and urine, dying together of starvation. The story is on the internet. I don’t want innocent and beautiful dogs anywhere near criminals
The problem is that a lot of psychos/socios, narcissists or just evil people go to jail. And they might hurt the dogs. Not saying all, but I do think this could be a problem.
