The thing with Tagalog is that our words for describing someone unless hinted at the start (e.g starting the sentence with Josh or Julia indicates the gender) is actually very gender neutral. So the translation is actually being tweaked because music video is following the narrative of the two actors’ actual love story in Philippine media. Star couples are a hard break up because everyone really be in your business.
According to the actor who played as the Priest, when they are going to shoot the last scene 'which is the girl apolozing' the director asks almost all of the crew to go outside the venue leaving only the Director, the two actors and camera men, the director instructed the two to just say whatever they want to each other genuinely since they didn't have any proper closure in real life when they broke up. There's no script to be memorized there and all of the lines was adlibs. I think the reason why this hits so hard is because we can feel the pain of these two, they are not acting, they are broadcasting their own life using this music video

This MV Paubaya is composed of Moira de la Torre, the singer together with her husband. The actor and actress in this MV Paubaya has a real relationship in real life before but they broke up. In short, they are a real couple in real life but because of some mistakes/bad circumstances/ issues in their jobs/in showbiz they didnt last long. One of them Got involved into someone in Showbiz issues, when they are together, the one got scared and the girl cant handle the issues and she keep silent but she is hoping that her BF will be there in her ups and downs. So, this Paubaya MV is both the actor/actress is their first meeting again in this after the long year ago broke up and this MV Paubaya is their closure. This is their own lines in real that comes from their heart, not scripted. Its so sad their relationship as a couple in real life didnt last long. When Joshua said in the MV that he wanted to protect her but cannot, i think that is the time when Julia got harassed by their angry fans but Joshua was also hurting at that time that he cannot be with Julia anymore so they broke up. Julia at that time denied everything but after the MV was released she admitted that she really is in a relationship with the other guy who is also at that time had a serious relationship with a very famous actress in PH.

I'm a joshlia fan... Joshua and Julia the girl and boy on that video and the first time I watched it I know that this is true.. Their lines is true because when Julia got bashed Joshua is not there because he got hurt too about the issue of Julia with her Co-actor and they just broke up and a month or weeks I don't know Julia and her Co-actor supper denied it but still confirmed it afterwards that they are together.. I Dont know if she and that Co-actor of her is together when she's still with Josh or they just get together when Josh and her broke up .. But they still friends 🙂

Actually, the music video has a lot of symbolism, especially the church, because it symbolizes both of the couples' relationships, then someone leaving that relationship when the girl runs away from the church...

Fact: the actress and the actor were real life couple but they broke up because the girl fell in love with another man (also an actor from the same network who also had a girlfriend that time). And so the reason for the girl, julia to say forgive him is because when they broke up wayback in 2019 and the rumor of her having an affair with her co-actor, everyone hated her, a lot of people bashed her in social media for breaking joshua's heart. She was all over the news and the social media being the "b*tch" and actually u can't blame the fans for hating her, she destroyed their relationship, and during those times joshua was not there beside her. She was all alone. Maybe, she still loves joshua and she waited for him to protect her but he didn't. And u can't blame him either because he just got cheated on, he is so much. So people think that, that is enough reason why he didn't console her during those times considering she is the mere reason of his pain.

One of the cast (priest on the mv) said that on their confrontation scene, the director asked everyone to go out of the chapel, so it was only julia, joshua, moira, jason (husband of moira), director, and one camera man who were left inside, so the reason for this is that the director and moira wanted to give that space for josh and julia for them to have their closure.

The original tagalog is gender neutral. The word for he/she or him/her is the same. But because the girl allegedly found someone else, the english translation was changed to fit the context. Also the last line of "pinapaubaya ko na sa kanya"" kanya could mean him/her (the other person) or God (since it was capitalized). It could mean both things all at once and that is the beauty of the lyrics and Tagalog as a language.
In reality Julia really lost the Good Guy for her.🙄
