A "genocide" with NO indisputable evidence is called a genocide, while one with mountains of indisputable evidence is not a genocide. Double Standards or selective application of the term "genocide"?

    • @nastatchia

Not to mention the USA is a euro supremacist genocidal state (settler colonial country, and still ongoing). "White house" and carving faces of genociders on a sacred Lakota mountain, you know. Biggest genocide in History (numbers are up to 350 million people for the USA alone).
Who the ef do they think they are and represent on world stage, and afford to not be totally ashamed of themselves to even mention the word?

overseas chinese particularly in the US are largely very fragmented, one by language (cantonese/mandarin//then there's some divide between older waves+tw/hk emigrants who mainly use traditional script and newer waves/mainlanders who mainly use simplified script), and many by which 'wave' of immigration by which they arrived here (or generation -- as 1st gen ABC I know too many other ABCs who barely speak and can't read chinese). Additionally, something I've seen in real time over the course of the 2010s and highly accelerated during the rise of sinophobia during covid (trump calling it "china virus"), is that community centers for the relatively established (urban) chinese communities, mainly centered around culture, have been shuttering their doors and closing down permanently. When I visited some chinatowns in other cities in the US I was also shocked to see mainly ROC flags being flown, the state of things is frankly not very great.
That's just the wide variety of demographics... and then there's the kernel of truth in the other commenter who says "they're behind it" -- yes there are a lot of immigrants who make an effort to assimilate into the American system - and I'm saying this as neutral as possible, as sad but logical as I find it personally. It's not a "cultural" thing about "sticking out" or whatever, it's about access to social capital and wealth. I mean, just look at figures (hanjian by any other name, frankly) like David Zhang or Selena Wang or Ai Weiwei who use their chinese face to peddle and lend credence to sinophobic narratives. That's their grift and they're raking in the dough. Anyway, it's a much deeper topic which a youtube comment wouldn't suffice - I would recommend an article titled "Can the Chinese Diaspora Speak?"

I can’t tell you what that first respondent was thinking. But I might have made the same response to the OP.
That is, why would the Chinese community go to the US government or the American media? The US Government and media are behind the unrest and media coverage. And the UN won’t be able to do much. First and foremost it is a tool of American soft power. Chinese Americans would draw negative attention onto themselves by using those channels.
