With the Twike Active, the pedals aren't connected to the wheels like a bike, they are in some way connected to the motor and are designed to relieve the batteries, thus extending the range (by pedalling, you are in fact, creating power). This is the sort of vehicle that should be mass produced and sold for under $5000. Otherwise it will never take off as a true "alternative vehicle".
They are working on the TWIKE 5, it will be in a slightly bigger production. Mass production hopefully for the TWIKE 6.

it is ai 3 Wheeler, so no crash test needed. Concerning security it is not comparable with a car but better than a motorcycle.
