Kinda random- just wanted to say thanks for making the content you do. Almost a decade back- I got into tech following you, Kyle, and another bloke over on the Newegg channel, built my own computer to play videogames, had my parents go "Oh, you like computers? Wanna study comp sci?"- flew halfway around the world to study comp sci, graduated 5ish years back and am now working in tech for Facebook Gaming of all things. I literally wouldn't be here if you didn't make computer videos- and I'm grateful I stumbled across your content back in 2011/2012. Also, I really like your news recap series. They're really condensed, and respectful of folks times while still giving your opinion on the matter. But yeah, I don't know what suddenly compelled me to write all of this; but yeah- thank you for making the content you do :)
And let me guess...if you pay shit-tube a premium...they will disable the pause ads too.

They better. The removal of ads is the only reason I'm giving these people money. The moment that goes away, so does my sub.
There's no reason why Nvidia wouldn't slap a $2500 - $3000 price tag on the 5090. And people will gladly pay it.
But it has 32GB of VRAM if you pay 800 extra!!
I'm an unhappy owner of a 4090, though in my case it was because I needed it for work. I don't game on that. I would never buy anything that expensive for gaming. I'll tell you right now that the 4090 was actually well priced at 1600. I wish it was closer to 1400, but given what it was giving especially compared to anything else from Nvidia or Radeon, it wasn't actually significantly overpriced. At 1800 to 2000 though... Yeah that's pushing it. Anything above that for a 90 class card, even I who have the need for work, will have to seriously think twice about that...
By the way, I absolutely thought the 4080, 70, and especially the 60 classes of the 40 series, were significantly overpriced. In fact they were insultingly so. That's because I view them as gaming cards only, there wasn't even the excuse of needing it for work, nor the tax breaks that that entails

Can we just go back to basic ass mobo's without all the upsale bullshit tacked on? 13 years in enterprise IT hardware refurbishing/recycling... and I have torn apart and put back together more hardware in 1 week then any single PC gamer will ever touch in a lifetime. I am just flabbergasted by the sheer marketing wank that drives sales on shit that costs pennies on the dollar to create with modern tech.

i hate nvidia almost as much as i hate the gamers buying them at inflated prices because they have no patience or discipline. thus guaranteeing we will never have affordable gpus.
nvidia has very anti consumer business practices. but it is the consumer that allows them to get away with it.

@@newearth9027 nice work. i bought a used 3080ti instead of a new 40 series card. the prices were too extreme, and at least buying used cards doesnt directly fund nvidia.
if i didnt use vr i would have just stuck with my 2070 super (comparable to your 1080ti. its still a great gpu for flatscreen gaming, even at 4k medium settings).

Same here. Now Ryzen 5-3600, but upgrading to a 9-5900 soon. After that, hopefully a 7800XT GPU with 16GB. AI support for AMD GPUs is now pretty good.

I think I'm going to just drop bleeding edge gaming altogether. None of these new products will matter. So many failures and delays and unacceptable prices, it's just a a waste of time, like so much tech. I think it was AI that was the last straw.

I think my strategy going forward will be to just shop in the mid-range. I used to buy a high-end card and make it last as long as I could to get get some value out of it. But with all the competition happening in the mid/low end now, and high end being unreasonably expensive, it seems a better strategy to buy cheaper and upgrade more often.
I've also been really happy with my mid-range AMD GPU for the last year. Will probably try mid-range 50 series next (assuming mid-range pricing is at least somewhat reasonable) to see the other side. DLSS would be a nice feature to have.

Great job guys, this video had a rather high "spinning Joe" quotient.
In South Africa the 4090 goes for around $2800.Just ridiculous especially when you consider I bought a 65"G1 OLED for around $1200.

An unspoken but also relevant point. NVIDIA likely can't get the additional silicon from TSMC to just make it worthwhile to continue.

NVIDIA is discontinuing the RTX 4090, leaving the RTX 5090 as the only high-end option. Despite its MSRP of $2,225, scalpers are expected to drive prices to between $3,000 and $4,000. An impending recession could potentially soften the market, possibly leading to more affordable RTX 5090s closer to the holiday season. I will just stick with my 3090 :))

Someone just dropped to their knees over the price of a gpu in my local super market.
oh great, Intel is still going with the "you cannot see the cpu inside the box" setup for their costliest and most frauded-up cpu. Gee, I really did just love getting two scam cpu's instead of the 13900K I wanted. Both of them had been opened cleverly and replaced with a G9 or whatever it was called. A 13700K I had purchased before that, that a bd psu took out, was packaged so you could see it in the box - and know it was much, much less likely to be scammed. Whatever, my 14900K was just fine and without issues (which Is way more statistically likely), so I guess I cannot complain in the end, but whatever - two scams and the real one was borked. Get better boxes, Intel, at the very least.
Oddly, my local Walmart carries 7800X3D for $399.
well here 40 series is hard to get purchasing offers have been told 40 chips are no longer being made by nvidia and November will be rtx50 announcement and December and January first cards.
RTX 5900 = $5900 and a kidney, plus a power plant to run it, and a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
Computer part prices are getting like new car prices, stupid expensive and out of reach for a large part of the market.
I am up for my final PC build .. but I see no point till I know what 870E is going to suit, if it every does.

I understand the "the 580 is just too much of a threat" bit was a joke...
But was it? RX 580s are the best reasonably priced GPU that has happened in the last decade. The 2048s aren't 580s and shouldn't be called 580s, but apparently you can still get new 2304s from XFX for like... $120. It shows its age, but in a "oh, this doesn't look nearly as bad as I expected at this low of settings" way.
I have no idea how to parse Intel's new cpu naming scheme, and I don't care enough to learn it.

Shutting down 4090 means they would rather not sell it than have to change its price below $1500
This still means the 5080 and 5090 could be priced somewhere that would have put the 4090 relatively worth about $1250 which would be a $999-$1199 5080 and a $1699-$2199 5090

if they had to drop the price of the 4090, then people would be less likely to buy the 5090 for whatever insane price they are imagining. profits are not considered profits in a company these days unless they exceed the profits they made the year prior by a healthy margin. its ridiculous. this constant obsession with growth.
where i work, its physical labour, limited by how fast you can work/ how many employees you have. they show us graphs of how well we did this year in comparison to last year, if we dont beat the previous year, we are losing money. they dont hire any more staff though, and everybody is already working as hard as they can. i do not understand how companies think this is sustainable.
I'm on 7600 non-x since last year, there isn't really any games that I need to upgrade for. Only AAA game I can think of is GTA VI, so I'm good for 2 years.
I hope Intel can turn around and get the cruise ship back in course. And I’m not saying this as a way to throw dirt on AMD (as they have come along way and put the effort in their product line), just concern that competitive innovation is becoming stagnant and companies have conform to marginal increments in the likes to how Apple releases products. Not bad for profits, but bad as a consumer needing “ole reliable” to get the job done. And oh no to “Pause Ads”; common feature in Smart TV intergraded TH-cam App, and PS5 (have not confirmed on Xbox, Switch, or other plugin platforms).

on Jayz last video talking about PC prices someone commented on 4090...I checked they are between 1780 to 2500 USD equivalent in my country.soo pretty much the same they were when we tought they were way overpriced, Nvidia doesn't really have a choice to cancel it's card himself as they still have no competition, yes AMD are awesome for games but if you do video encoding regularly or 3d rendering or ai, not I'm doing any of the 2 last but a lot of people do in 2024 meaning we gamers are competing with different markets to get cards AND very importantly those markets are professionnal so earn money with their cards while we don't they can afford those prices...it's actually cheap I work in the industry a proprietary 14" touch screen for a machine is 5000€ >
There may not be 5090 at all. 5080 will be a bit faster than 4090. The same chip as what 5090 could be is what NVidia sells for 50K a pop to datacenters.....
Of course NVidia may name what is 5080 essentially 5090 ....

Ads , for me have been , 2 at begining Before video even starts 2 more 5 minutes in then 3 then 2 then just for a 10 minute long video 2 more after video plays just to get back ti menu - you literally have to close page to start a new search is faster
I am still going to wait till after the new year some time, waiting to see both what Intel and Nvidia bring to market.. if that be the Intel I9 285K and Nvidia 5090, that is what I am waiting to see if and when they come out.. not buying though till some time after the new year.. mostly because besides waiting for the new tech, I simply do not trust what we have for government..

I'm actually 100% okay with pause ads, and even prefer it to some of the existing ad types. As long as they show up after a few seconds of being paused, don't contain video and or audio, and don't prevent me from resuming the video or requiring me to close the ad before resuming. Much less intrusive than unskippable video ads, banner ads over the video, or ads at the end of a video.

NVIDIA took note of what happened to the 3090's price after the 4090 released and are trying to mitigate the same trend by artificially limiting supply because God forbid they aren't squeezing every last dollar from their customers...

I bought a 7800X3D the moment I watched the 9700X reviews go up. It's not often I get to give myself a pat on the back for making great choices but I will take it this time 😁

If you enable UBlock Origin you never have to see another ad again. Installed it once on a computer and its been enabled on every single windows device even if its a fresh install ever since. And if you install the brave browser, you can watch youtube ad free on mobile, even get rid of youtube shorts too.
Or you could get ublock Origin which is free and gets rid of TH-cam from handy capping you until you pay for TH-cam Premium, I have been using it for the past 7 months.
