This guy from the shop comes across so genuinely friendly and considerate. You can see why he deserves to be successful.
Hell yeah! I don't think you can fake that. That vibe they set is honest and real
It's an interview, you can't really tell actually.
What a wonderful way to spend 17 minutes. Such good vibes from that guy, and great interview! Thanks!
My wife and I rode in Paris before Covid. We took a bike tour at night and it poured. We got soaked, but it was so much fun and we will never forget. We rode from the Louvre to a Boat on the Seine River, where we road down the river. A tour we will alway remember.
We do a lot of bike tours in Europe, many of them Bike and Barge. We are tourists on bikes. Really enjoy your adventures around Europe. We have a couple of trips planned for this year 10 days on the Danube (hotel to hotel) April/May. Then in August the Netherlands Bike and Barge and 5 Days in Copenhagen. Love biking in Europe.
It is very cool that you moved to Spain. Since we are in our seventies I do not think we will do that. But I really admire you and your wife.
Great to see you promoting this lovely store. Really nice dudes.
What an impressive inventory of absolutely beautiful bikes. This makes me want to visit Paris lol
2 cinellis and a gazelle?
a peugeot (shit bike) they wont sell?
is it this easy to entertain people nowadays?
@@aristaeus2514seems like you didn’t watch the video?
was able to train down to paris last year while my daughter and i were at the tour of flanders, Paris biking rocks! we used the velo city bikes to cruz around the city and almost 30 miles of riding to get everywhere we needed to go! all the attractions and museums and monuments. it was a dream day and the safe and easy biking made it happen! Thank you Paris! Marci !
So cool to see alt (party pace) biking has become so widespread. Fills my heart with joy. Cheers.
I am travelling to Paris with my son in March '25 and we will definitely visit this shop.
I have a passion for bikes and I am going to do my research on Rivendell bikes as I would really like one.
Vive La Chouette! 🇫🇷
I recently spent a few blissful days riding around Paris, and I wish I'd known about this store! Can't say enough about how great the cycling infrastructure was, I can't wait to go back!
I loved the video, I’m french and a big fan of both la Chouette and your channel !
Thank you 🙏 for taking us to such a cool shop. Love your work!
That poncho looks great, I have a military spec poncho which I always keep in my bag. It does work great at slow (almost walking lol!) speeds, but it does billow out like he mentioned when going a little faster, so glad someone's trying to fix that.
didnt expect the shop to not be snobby and the owner seemed like a very friendly and down to earth guy.
the Bikes they sell are also great. really nice shop for Bikes to use heavily or daily.
This was great! I saw this shop while I was in Paris, but I wasn’t into alt bikes at the time so I didn’t go in. Great interview, thank you!
I love those gazelle bikes, I rented one in oxford for the day and it was great. Such a comfortable bike.
As a Brother owner I can vouch for the high quality of their frames. Wonderful shop.
Awesome content! Love local scene shop tours, thank you for taking us with you! /love
very nice episode and great bikes in this shop. I am from France but far from Paris
Whenever you're in Montreal, drop by C&L, very similar to La Chouette. BTW home of Bassi bikes
Tu m'enlèves les mots de la bouche!
Such a cool vibe!!!!
Hearing on the news about the cycle boom in Paris makes me want to visit. Love the shops attitude.
I've bought some Blue Lug stuff from this place across Europe.
Love it!
Thanks for reporting on the cool shops you find!! 😊
As a foreign student in Paris in 1985-1986, I rode my bike everywhere. By that time, helmets were commonly used by North Americans, but I was one of very few cyclists in Paris who wore a helmet, to the great amusement of many at the time. I worked part time at a bike rental agency in the 5th arrondissement and at a bike shop - La Maison du Velo - in the 10th.
The guys at La Chouette are really great. I visit them regularly when I’m in Paris. I bought the amazing Lightning Bolt hanging in their shop a few weeks ago. I should grab it in early March!
Next time you guzs are in Germany go check out Guten Biken in Munich! I am sure you would love that shop as well!
Guten Biken. Great name.
Also, their online shop is a bit less expensive
I have to come and check that out! I love Munich 😄
Yes! I second that.
Magnifique! I must visit there one day!
Prob my favorite video from this channel…I love bike centric countries and with the history France has when it comes to bikes, can’t beat it!(interesting facts about bike consumership there too).
Wow! What a neat bike shop.
Great tour of an awesome shop!
Can't believe the guy is French. I could understand every word he said!
Apart from this: I stumbled across their website some time ago, nice to see them featured here!
Lol.. He's British.
🤦
@@jamesharoldbardwell2182 ahh this explains a lot 😅
Thanks for this bike-store tour, Russ, maybe a three-hour tour next time? All enjoyable to see and hear and cool that old high-performance steel frames are turned into street bikes in Paris. And it would seem that any old European bike is cool modern alt. Thanks for being an American in Paris long enough to put this shop on the map of cool bike places in France.
😢
I was thinking how different this would have been visiting a car dealership.
Bike shop people are so cool and this shop exudes cool. Love your shop visits and the shared love of cycling.
not all looks like this one in eu most shops looks like car showrooms
Great vibes and insight into Paris cycling habits and a shop to visit too. Thank you.
Omg! I was shaking from glee, seeing this shop mind blown!!🤯 I could easily spend my retirement away in one fell swoop!😂
An amazing range of bikes and bike bits. Proper bike shop.
Nice to see a service oriented shop 🤙🏽
but they are not..
Why? @@aristaeus2514
@@aristaeus2514 Dude what is your problem?
Jacob mentioned Woods in the UK. Would love to see you hop over the Channel and take a look 😉👍
Just la vie in Augsburg, Germany sells rivendell as well. I have bought from la Chouette a few times, great shop.
Another shop to visit!
@
You should, Christoph is a great guy. I went there to buy a Crust frame. He knows a lot about cycling, he took his time to talk about bikes and cycling when I visited.
Came to my mind immediately, as I almost bought a Roadini frame from them last year, but went with a Crust Malocchio instead.
@@DonSchnitzel I think I met him at Bespoked in Dresden
Going to Paris in 3 weeks. Definitely going to visit the shop.
Wonderful ! Jacob is a gem !
Wow! That is thw shop style i love! What a nice guy!
“Cool” bike shop with a “cool” name. Wish I’d known about it when I went to Paris in 2019. I did find a few shops but they were very run of the mill. Amazing city!
Look at all of those corner bars right on the corner!
Nice to see you going around Europe!
It's so cool I'd ride from the uk, hop on a ferry and ride to the shop just to visit.
I walked by the shop in '23, but they were unfortunately closed at the time. I'll have to go back to Paris!
So cool to see it. I bought my two Rivs from them.
As a local, it's nice to know what's inside this shop. I'm always too much in a hurry to stop and take a look inside. As for what I ride around Paris as my beater (to prevent theft)? A grey 90's Gary Fisher mountain bike with rack and fenders and dynamo. I routed the wires externally for extra ugliness. From what I understand, the thieves are aiming more for electric bikes these days.
Has a similar vibe and products as my local bike shop in Tokyo (Blue Lug).
Great looking shop and the guy seems really nice 👍🏻
Nice interview, great shop.
I will definitely visit them for their accessories!
The shop owner is definitely not French. He's more Sunderland than Paris.
I'd say more scouser than geordie
@@stea21fon15 actually he's probably more North Yorkshire
Oh yeah,Keystone bike in Philly same vibe!😉👌
Best way to see and explore Paris is by bike. Or you can walk and take metro like we do.
I love the bicycle culture there, here in Australia we are hated and pretty well run off the roads.
sweet shop!
Wholesome store.
This is awesome.. A Brit that escaped the tedium of the UK.
Interesting video, Russ. Greatful for your efforts.
Cracking video. Been planning to take the Brompton there very soon, so this helped a lot. Thanks for this one
looks sick!!
Beautiful shop ❤
Theft of bicycles in major metropolitan cities (except perhaps Tokyo/Japan) is probably the biggest challenge for urban cyclists. I’ve been coming to France for 40 years and now I live half time in the south of France. You can’t beat rural France for the best cycling in the world.
Yeah Tokyo, and Japanese cities in general, are really great in that regard
Cycling in rural France is amazing
Really nice shop….cool inventory.
Great video. This is a very nice shop. I live in Paris and have been there once (could not finish mounting my Pirelli tyre on my carbon rim...) and they were a big help. I have been thinking for a while about either getting a custom frame from Avalanche or getting a frame and have it mounted with everything I want on it. In that case I would go to La Chouette. One thing I do not agree with is about bike traffic. I commute from one side of Paris to the other 3 times a week and traffic is getting heavier whether rain or shine. There are some bike lanes (the one Boulevard Sébastopol is an example) where the traffic especially at the end of the day is very heavy.
The velo routes in France look pretty nice
Love to see a veloorange shout out
So good 🎉 😊 !
Nice two see doing well.
Really cool place.
yeep It's a pity that we don't have such shops here
I guess that Polish market for alt bike parts isn't big enough yet 🙂.
@@ludowir man we have lack of components this applies most to rigid forks
Steel is real 🤙🤙
ALWAYS
I’m in Paris rn. Gonna check it out today 😮
Tell them we say hi!
@@PathLessPedaledTVI did! I tried the big Rivendell and I really loved it 😀
Great video👍
Nice shop!
Woah, I think we have the official pronunciation for Velo Orange. Even the French guy pronounces it with the accent on the first syllable.
Shop le plus classe de France !
My kind of bike shop!
Lovely. I drove a Peugeot bike for long time and now own an old Motobecane randonneur. Pretty sure I could find some good parts over there. But referring to another comment. If you are in Germany next time and up in the north, maybe having a look for Norwid could be something for you. Stay as you are and ride on 🚲
If you need a Peugeot, I have ca. 30 Peugeots in my shop, bikerecycle at the lake Constance.
you dont want this peugeot im sure..
If I'm not mistaken I've seen Jacob on a FOAD Jackson's video from Paris. That guy riding mostly wheely.
I would be like a kid in a candy store in that shop!
Thank you so much! Awesome shop and very friendly presentation. Great selection of parts. 10:15 Unfortunately, the cost of importing can definetly be seen in their prices for Crust and Riv frames and parts. These often are not very affordable in the first place, but here in Europe, they really are expensive. Maybe it is because they make some kind of customs triangle from Taiwan to the US first, and only then to Europe. Otherwise I can‘t explain, how for example Surly (also made in Taiwan) can be so much more affordable in Europe (most frames way below €1000). But at least through their store it is cheaper than paying shipping and customs for Crust or Riv on one‘s own.
incroyable!
Pelago is Finnish brand, EU of course too.... Just wanted you to know
*Europe
Russ when are you coming to New Forest - stop messing with us
Yes. Planning on visiting during Brother in the Wild.
Cool shop, lovely chap! I hope that you are visiting Alex Singer!?
dude awesome interview nice shop*****
Wish that store was local to me.
"Yes, it is ze cute one."
Love that they sell real (non electric) bikes.
ooh if you're in Paris I wonder if that Le Petit Porteur test has come through for you!
No
@@PathLessPedaledTVthat is a shame...really hope to see your thoughts on it at some point.
Please note that the very first thing he did was recognize his staff. That would not happen in The U.S. because we have little respect for labor.
Note the number of step through frames at all price points because they are fsr more practical.
What brand is the pancho? I've heard a poncho is the way to go. Thanks
Vaude makes a poncho, they’re worth it. Used mine from the first day (10 hrs of rain during 12hr outing) then almost every other ride it seemed. Packs away small like the one in this video.
Now you are there, are you going to see Alex Singer too? You should !!
Tried to do it on this trip but they didn´t get back to us in time.
the dream
Grosse Legume Based
0:33 he didn't introduce Deja Vu, who deals with returning customers
What brand is the poncho?
the poncho is a poncho........
