Corona trying to ruin everyone’s year
Reagan: romance novels
When clay tapped on the bread and said “yep that’s bread” I lost it lmao
Reagan reading romance is such a weird concept to me 😂
hahahah honestly SAME but I had so much fun
It is soooo good though. It takes a bit to find your groove in the genre but once you find that youll never go back
“This is my life now: romance novels and K-dramas” lol you basically described my perfect weekend😂😂
Same :)
Tessa Dare is my favorite romance author so I am very excited to see you loving her!!!
It's not historical but if you want a super cute and funny romance with great banter you should check out Well Met by Jen Deluca! It's set in a renaissance fair and it's so much fun! I feel like you would enjoy it!
Riley Marie oooh yes! I think Regan would really enjoy Well Met!!
Wow thanks for the rec! I read Well Met and really enjoyed it. Unique concept with relatable characters :)
Okay, but for some recs (if you’re interested), Kerrigan Byrne writes my favorite historical romances series. The Highwayman is book one and my favorite. Tessa Dare and Lisa Kleypas are the best. The Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas is soooo good! I also love Eloisa James, Lenora Bell, and Elizabeth Hoyt. I can’t wait to see what else you pick up! Let me know if you need more recs because romance is my genre!
Right such good authors... alot of people take it for granted expecially historical romance but the smutty covers r so fun
The wallflower series is amazing!! Totally agree
I AM SO HAPPY YOU’RE READING ROMANCE 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You should try Tessa Dare’s other series “Castles Ever After”, they all are women who somehow inherit a castle or take place at a castle. My favourite is “When a Scot Ties the Knot”; the main character makes up a fake Scottish fiancé who she sends letters to thinking that no one is receiving them. Years later, the made up guy turns up at her castle in the highlands and it goes from there.
Omg that sounds so good 😍 I need to check this one out 😊
Oooo I have read that! I had forgotten its name! Thanks for reminding me! It was driving me nuts, not knowing the name of that book!!
Book rec: Bridgertons by Julia Quinn (soon to be in Netflix!)
Kdrama rec: Crash landing on you.
There are no words on earth to describe how much I love your reading vlogs❤️❤️
Lisa Kleypas is also super addictive. The Hathaways or the Wallflower series are great. My personal favorite is Mary Balogh--she writes character driven stories that are just beautiful. The Survivors series is my favorite!
When I saw Romance is a bonus book on your TV I literally squealed. I love that show and watched it twice 😍
Historical regency romance is my faaaaaavorite type of book! I'm so glad you're enjoying it! Some authors I love after you've run out of the queen Tessa Dare's books: Sabrina Jeffries, Elizabeth Hoyt and Darcy Burke! (Lisa Kleypas is also popular but I find her heroes pretty detestable lol) I hope you have fun with the genre!
Although I just commented, I also wanted to throw out there that Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas is one of the best historical romances ever
The covers always throw me too! I avoided romance for YEARS until about 2 years ago. Now it is my primary genre (but I still can't get over being a bit embarrassed about the covers. Completely unnecessary but, hey, what can ya do?). If you like Bring Down the Duke, try Kerrigan Byrne. So excited you are exploring the genre! It is such a great escape.
Omg!! Historical romance AND kdramas?? We really are living apocalyptic times lol!!! Shhh, no one tell her there's no way back from romance!!
I’m SO happy you loved these books! Romance has been my escape for the past two years! Sometimes you just need sweet and light stories.
I want to thank you for uploading so many long reading vlogs at the moment.
Your Weekend Reading Vlogs have been one of my facourite kind of videos to watch for quite a while and they always calm me down when I'm having an off day or just want to feel like I'm hangibg out with someone. Especially now I'm really thankful for the amount of content you're giving us. So thanks.
If it’s historical romance NOTHING beats Julia Quinn’s bridgerton series. It’s amazing familial dynamics and wit makes me laugh and smile all the time. But the romance is still steamy and the characters have great chemistry. Also I believe there is a Netflix show coming out directed by shonda rhimes
YES!!! It's what I've been saying!!!
yesssss the title of this has me HYPED
also was smiling watching this! so glad you're loving romance
loll the bread banter was so funny!! totally loving these reading vlogs 😊
Thank you for acknowledging that you were judging the genre by the covers. There are great romances out there in many genres. The sub-genre plots may be softened a little by the romance plot but they are just as great as the full on genre books. I read a mix of fantasy and romance and honestly the fantasy/paranormal romances give me the hit of fantastical I need while giving me s mental break from the heavier full on fantasies!
I really love this kind of video. I’m a huge fan of Historical Romance, so I would definitely recommend you to read the Wallflowers series by Lisa Kleypas,Bridgerton’s series by Julia Quinn!!
I’m living for these vlogs ❤️
I always recommend Alyssa Cole to people who are new to the Romance genre. She has a contemporary series and a historical series, and both of them are excellent!
Hi! Just wanted to say I’ve been loving ur videos lately! They’re so great to have on in the background when I’m stuck at home working on school work, and they keep me positive and motivated in these uncertain times
romance is a bonus book was the first kdrama i´ve ever watched as well!
First of all no matter what you read I love your vlogs they are so calming to me! But I’m not a big fantasy reader and you reading some romance is so fun to watch! 😊
Matilda’s snoring 😂😂😂 so cute 🐶
14:15
this is such a change but i love it 🥰🥰 sometimes you just need all the romance
Romance is a bonus book is the cutest thing I have ever seen... the characters, the books, the scenes, the feels... it just has everything and most of the time it makes you smile like a doofus cause it is just so sweet 💓❤ I can highly recommend it and I am gonna stop now cause I am entering full on fangirl mode!! JUST WATCH IT!!
So great to see you read romances! ❤️ love your take on things.😄
I have been watching your vlogs for a while but have never commented. I love all your book recommendations and now have a huge TBR pile with books that I have seen you read. I have always read all different kinds of genres. Just wanted to thank you for all the recommendations and keep doing your vlogs. They keep me entertained.
Your reading vlogs always motivate me so much to read! Also super excited to see that you loved Bringing Down the Duke! I already have it on my tbr, so I will start it asap!
I’m just dying to see your Animal Crossing island!!
agreed!
It's so nice to see someone else falling down the historical romance rabbit hole!!!
Yay!! I've been wanting to read RomCom books, and I'm so glad I looked for your channel first!! Thank you!
Obsessed with you reading vlogs. I love all of them! You and Clay are adorable (and so is Milly!). These vlogs are my number 1 go to! Now with the social distancing, they keep me sane. Looking forward to the next vlog! X
Yeah, duh, I’m already a good person! I died at that! 🤣 I’m so happy to see you reading and enjoying romance novels!
I have a k drama rec. After you instagram storied about trying one you inspired me to also try one (I’d been wanting to for a while). Ended up going with Crash Landing On You and it was AMAZING 🥰 I highly recommend. It took over my life this week!
Romance is a bonus book is so so good!! I’m so glad you are watching it!
If you’d like to read some regency romance novels without the smut, I recommend Georgette Heyer. Austen is my favorite author and Heyer is the closest I’ve found to her. She doesn’t have the wittiness of Austen but the theme and the settings are similar. I will definitely pick up Bringing Down the Duke very soon. Love the vlog.
The shopaholic series by Sophie kinsella makes me laugh out loud, I consume them like candy!
This vlog made me want to rewatch romance is a bonus book so badly! I need the soft fluffiness right now.
We all love you and your wholesome content ❤️ please don’t feel like you have to defend your life! That has to be so exhausting and negative energy has no place in anyone’s home. 😊
damn I was just about to start studying lmao, guess that aint happening
every time i film a reading vlog reading tessa dare's books i can never stop saying how much i love the banter
You might like North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. She was a contemporary of the Brontes. She wrote romance with a good commentary on her time. N&S is a Darcy/Lizzy love to hate style romance but set in northern England during the industrialization revolution and focuses on a union strike and the fight for workers rights and better working conditions. There is also a mini series which I think is on Netflix. This isn’t a great synopsis but it’s really good.
Clay’s bread review is the highlight of my Tuesday.
Also LOVEEEEE Romance is a Bonus Book, you should try Strong Girl Do Bong Soon next if you like Kdramas!
I always love your reading vlogs, but currently they are just perfect👌🏼 I feel like I'm actually getting to visit someone else's home and get out for a bit. Thank you ❤
I havent left my house in 26 days, your videos are one of the only things keeping me sane.
I don’t read romance, I do love some romance within fantasy but because of this vlog maybe I should read some 🤔. Also love that you started watching Romance is a bonus book! I watched it when it came out and loved it, it’s so cute! Thank you for gracing us with amazing content during this time! 🙌🏼
OMG Regan is reading romance, I never thought this day would come 😍😂 I’m actually so proud of you, romance is my favorite genre
Reagan - for kdramas you have to watch Boys Over Flowers. I know you’ll want to stop after the first episode but once you get into the second and more it’s one of the best shows I’ve seen and I was extremely skeptical about it originally!
Also follow up question - what do you use to read ebooks and do you like it? Looking to get a new tablet or possibly just an ereader!
I just couldn’t wait for your historical rom-com book recommendations!
I'm so excited you're enjoying the start of your romance journey! I think you might like Lenora Bell as well. I feel like she and Tessa Dare both have funnier writing styles. Regardless, you still have plenty of Tessa Dare to go! (Do You Want to Start a Scandal? is one of my favorites! and that book merges two separate series, so for real, lots of good content in Tessa's backlist. Lol)
I just re-read Do You Want to Start a Scandal! It's so great - I love it so much!
If you have hulu you should watch "Younger"! It's about a 40sh year old trying to get a job in the publishing industry in NYC but can only get it if she lies about her age sooo good. Bonus Hillary Duff is in it.
I am a HUGE kdrama fan! It's pretty much all I watch. Romance is a Bonus Book was so good. 🤩 Thanks for all the content. It's keeping my loneliness at bay. I feel like I am hanging with a friend.
Reading my first romance - I found several Tessa Dare books as library downloads. Thanks, Reagan, for the perfect quarantine distractions!
If nobody has mentioned it yet, a historical romance series I quickly became obsessed with was the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn. They’re already filming a Netflix series based upon the books. So good!
i can’t remember if you read Well Met but if you haven’t you definitely should! it’s a cute romcom type book but it’s set in a renaissance festival! so cute
I cannot tell you how OBSESSED I am with watching your vlogs!!! It’s just so much fun (ps, I just bought bringing down the duke because of you lol)
Enjoy seeing you read something outside of fantasy. As a primarily fantasy reader myself, it makes me curious to try romance too 😂
Romance is a Bonus Book is adorable. And the outfits are so cute as well
All I could think about your bread and jam was beware!!!!!! I just finished Way of Kings so the bread and jam scenes were fresh on my mind. Lol
If you want a romance novel with more setup you should definitely read Mariana Zapata's books (my favorites are Wait For It and From Lukov With Love). They're more of a slow-burn romance type books, they're longer than your average romance novel and you really get to know the characters well!
I'm excited for you! Romance is my jam!
Ahhh I love your vlogs!!!! 😍 I need this for my quarantine time 😆
Oh my god!!! You're watching Romance is a Bonus Book. It's beautiful. I can't believe Reagan is watching K Dramas 😭😭 I'm so glad.
Omg!!! Is this for real?? She's going all the way in with romance!! So excited!!
Love your reading vlogs!!! You make my day with your positive attitude, and you put me in a mood to read!❤️
You at 10:55 is where I’m at right now. Nothing sounds fun, I’m motivated to do exactly nothing, and then I found this video and was like yesss finally something that’s appealing lol
Omg!!! Romance is a Bonus Book is the KDrama I used to get my best friend into them! It’s amazing! I hope you enjoy it:)
I LOVE seeing everything you cook! Thank you for sharing that. 🌻💛
Omg! Romance is a Bonus Book is such a great show! Netflix has plenty of other interesting and unique kdramas I think you would like!
You should do another romance reading vlog 😍 maybe like binging a romance trilogy or quartet 😍
This reading vlog was perfect!
Also Reagan violating the whole "don't judge a book by its cover" concept... but I don't blame her, those covers are not my style either lol.
You should read The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary! It's not a Historical Romance novel but is a slowburning romance, so there is a lot of building up and construction about the characters, I think you will love it!
I’ve just seen the title, and I’m so excited! 😍💕
So it is possible to get "propper" bread in the US!
I'm from Germany and whenever I spend time abroad I really start craving bread bc somehow bread is super different everywhere!
I highly recommend Red White and Royal Blue 💙 and Love and Other Words
It's funny because I also picked out a romance book the other day as well looking for some escapism and just flew through it as well. Not as intrigued by the genre as you though, although I definitely would like to explore more of it.
Also totally random but the beard suits Clay!
Absolutely loving these vlogs!!!
I think you would appreciate Sarah MacLean’s the season and love by numbers series because she definitely lets you get to know the characters before they get too involved
I love how you switched it up i recently did the same thing and have been really enjoying it. Good stuff.
One of my favorite romances in Blackmoore by Julian Donaldson. It's a "proper romance" so it isn't to steamy but it is very cute and romantic. Which I think I actually got the recommendation for this book from one of your book hauls several years ago.
Yes! I love this one too.
There’s a line of Proper Romances. I just read Promised by Leah Garriott and it was really good.
Like your Vblog. I've read 2 books recently of Caleb Borne for contemporary romance - love him!
Romance Recs for Reagan:
1. The Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn - start with The Duke and I. Really good at the protagonaists having and helping solve each other's issues and humour.
2. The Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics by Olivia Waite. Just excellent, and ladies support ladies.
3. Georgette Heyer maybe worth looking into - she is an older author, her books were published between the 1920s and the 1970s, so the tropes and feminism are less modern, and they are uber clean for modern romance - BUT they are often very funny and have good storylines. Try Faro's Daughter, The Grand Sophy or Frederica for starters, if they appeal.
4. Finally, a good but weird series (as they are sometimes awkwardly Christian, and not so steamy because who has sex before marriage?) is the Hawthorne House series by Kristi Ann Hunter. The first book is A Noble Masquerade. These are ridiculous in plot but absolutely fantastic if you can just decide to go with it.
Enjoy!
Really enjoyed your reading vlog. Look forward to more of these 😊
If you would like to read more romance, then please try reading Julia Quinn's and Judith McNaught's books. They have more exposition and no rushing. I would suggest Something Wonderful.
I love k-dramas. I haven’t watched any in years. I might need to try that one! You liking romance books makes me think maybe I need to try them too? I have never read a regency romance but you might inspire me!
This was a whole journey!
Damn I'm so happy that you're getting into romance! Yay! Also Clay with a beard - not so bad :)
Ngl I cackled at your carol intro 😂😂
Your videos make me so happy.
You should try Lauren Willig’s pink carnation series! They have a really cute contemporary frame story. The first like 3 or 4 are on the steamy side but get more tame as the series goes on but the characters and stories are all great!. It’s also a completed series of 12 books so you can binge away!
If you enjoy Romance is a Bonus Book (which is good), you should also watch Strong Girl Bong Soon which is on Netflix. It's one of my favorite kdramas! Its basically like a rom com but so heartwarming.
This isn't the historical period you're looking for, but one historical romance I read was Fool's Paradise by Tori Phillips. It's Elizabethan and was written in the 80s, but it was fun and cute. The god daughter of Queen Elizabeth runs out her marriage of a cruel duke and she bumps into the court jester that entertained at her engagement party. Her agrees to help hide by disguising her as a boy and his apprentice.
You might really enjoy the Lawrence Browne Affair by Cat Sebastian which is actually a gay historical romance and has some incredible banter. I would just recommend the whole trilogy because it’s incredibly wholesome and it also includes a lovely rake story. 😄
Reading vlog on my birthday! woo!
happy birthday!
@@PeruseProject Thank you! I love your videos, they are keeping me sane and motivated to read during this strange time! :)
happy birthday, dude:)
Tiger King was so wild!!! Saff was my fave voice on the show too, probably because it was the most normal and level-headed one lol
