    Not saying he's gonna be the next MJ or even Kobe, but he's got that dawg in him. Everyone forget he was only 19 his rookie year so he still has plenty of time for growtg and and height-wise started at 6'4, but there are legit sources saying he's grown up to 6'6 now. He's very competetive and really cares about playing defense. There are a lot of players out there, specially in the SG position like Lavine, Derozan, Booker, Jalen Brown etc., that are great at some things, but from what I've seen so far, ANT could be HIM if he continued to work! He has that killer mindset, athleticism, defense, IQ, alpha mentality. I'm really looking forward for him to succeed.

    • @chuckdeuces911
      @chuckdeuces911 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lol, you think he is literally still growing in height? No way, you believe that he's still growing? In his game there is room for growth because last year he was in the bottom 20 in WS48 which predicts how efficient you are as an overall player and how many wins you contribute to a team based over 48 minutes. He was even on a winning team and was still at the bottom. That's really hard to do. He's been much better so far but the next MJ is already dead. Maybe the next Kobe. Super inefficient, hyper ball dominant, taking bad shots to end the game, and be a borderline all NBA the whole time but because your teammates are good, you get MVPs. That's where Ant is right now. He's the 3rd best player on his team.

      People tend to leave out context when it came to Jordan losing. Jordan was on a lottery team who were competing with championship teams such as the Celtics and Pistons whose rosters were filled with HOF players. Many people give Lebron excuse for losing to Golden State despite having Love and Irving but too much emphasis on Jordan losing in his early years.

    He lacks MJs hands, height, vertical, speed, quickness, reflexes.
    He scores a lot less than MJ at the same year in the NBA.
    But yeah, he is like MJ.
    If the actual young MJ was playing, he would average at least 50 (he averaged 37 in 1987), but let's not get into that, shall we???

    • @juju-vl7oj
      @juju-vl7oj 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He averaged 27.8 shot attempts per game on 48% and defense in 1987 wasn’t that great. Back then the height distribution of players was different. The average guard was usually smaller and less athletic than today and the average big man was taller and bigger overall but slower and there wasn’t a lot of positional switching.
      I’m not saying MJ wouldn’t be great today but there’s different challenges strategically and with the different types of athletes . There’s been no bigger lie in sports debates that the defenders of the past were significantly better and their physicality was extremely impactful.
      There was less spacing on the court because only 2-3 players on the court at most could space the floor with the 3. That’s the main reason defense looks worse today because the space to recover if you are beaten on the initial 1 on 1 or doubling off ball is much greater which leads to more large openings on the court but the athletes and switch ability of the current athletes makes up for that .

    According to Jordan's official measures at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 he was 6'4 and 3/4 and not 6'6 like the NBA and Bulls had him listed his entire career so that would make Ant the same height as MJ, NBA teams were known for tweaking the heights by an inch or two for various reasons something that was fixed in todays NBA with a ruling that requires teams to list the official players heights without shoes.

    He's one of the few who could actually start climbing Mount Jordan. Kobe was the only other to actually try. First he would have to lead the league in scoring and I don't mean just from jackin threes. He would have to dominate on offense like Curry, which if he wants to be mentioned in the same sentence as MJ, he would have to do in this wide open lane, three point Steph Curry Era. Because we ALL know, MJ would average 40 with ease in these conditions. So that's the first test for A1.

    In this era there’s a lot of talking about Jordan’s winning mentality, but there’s one thing that is often overlooked because to actually have it on the top of your head you had to lived that era and had watched an entire Chicago Bull’s season, besides putting all the numbers, Michael did it in a spectacular way, with Mike, you were in for a show, like jaw dropping things, like how did he do that. There are two players in this era that I’ve had similar reactions: Curry with the deep threes and Kyrie with the dribble, everything else is just the same or a bunch of step back travels

    • @Sole-Survivor
      @Sole-Survivor 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Jordan never had a "winning mentality," if he did he would have it now. MJ was a great player on a great team/organization and they produced great things but MJ could not have done it alone E.G., if he were playing today with the same skill set he displayed in the '80's, '90's; but instead of playing for a competent, championship oriented, team he played for the Charlotte Hornets and they would be managed and coached with the same level of competence as they have displayed in the past. In that case no one would talk about Jordan's winning mentality because the team wouldn't be winning, he would simply be getting buckets.

The bulls were trash before MJ and haven't won another title since he left 25 YEARS AGO. it was the same owner and GM until the GM passed a few years back. Jordan carried that team. When he retired in 1994, they didn't win a championship. He comes back and they 3 peat again. He retires and they never win another one. After that, he was passed his physical prime.

I can definitely see where the MJ comparisons are coming from in his game too, but it's definitely too early to be saying he's the next incarnation of the GOAT. He's a fierce player, though, and he knows when to step up and take over. He's one of my favorite players this season.

    Scoring title, MVP, DPOY, Steals leader, All Star game MVP, Dunk Champ all in one season 1988 in MJs 4th season.....same as ANTs. MJ was the GOAT before the rings - said coach BOBBY KNIGHT in 1984. ANT is athletic and fun to watch, but he'll never come close to MJs level. Theres no one in the NBA that is near MJs level. Keep in mind that assists are easier to get now too because they allow them to dribble the ball and still count the assist. In Jordan's era, if a player dribbles one time, the player who passed it doesnt get the assist. There was no euro stepping and no BS step backs that in slow motion are 3 steps after the dribble is picked up. Imagine allowing MJ an extra step .... 45 ppg

  • @Seattlefan77

    Glad they aren't mentioning Butler as a Jordan clone anymore. Dude's a scrub as far as NBA players go. Everyone remembers him going off against the bucks in the playoffs but not the next season when he averaged 9ppg against them when he said he's always "stupidly locked in" in the post season. Fell off hard after that.

    There never be another MJ, especially not AntMan. So let's put this to rest because the very first "Next MJ" wasn't Kobe, it was Grant Hill. Another fact, no current player compares to MJ, none, not even LeFlop/LeBitch/LeRetire. To compare any of these players to MJ outside of Kobe is just disrespectful. But I am guessing your generation is all about disrespect which is sad itself. Just stop trying to do this, there is no argument, style of play, jump shot form, or anything that can compare to MJ. And by the way, Butler goes hard in the playoffs but MJ went hard all season every season he played. Until someone can do that on top of the things MJ has done (he has pretty much every accolade a pro can have except a HS state championship).

    NO ONE will be MJ
    Just like no one will be Anthony Edwards
    Yes, players can show similar play but that’s not unusual in a game that involves a ball through a hoop as the concept. Every player is uniquely their own. Needless to say, players obviously have role models they look up to and try to model their play after, but I’m not a huge fan of this “ next MJ” conversation. For one, the game is vastly different now than it was back then. The sport has changed so much over the years that I honestly do not think some of the bigger names today, would even be a factor in the game, back in those days. Two, you did not see players bouncing around team to team like you see now a days. Teams stuck together for the most part, and that created amazing rivals, and an energy, that I argue , is no longer present in todays game. The word “defense” has two different meanings, back then and now. It’s just a much different game, period.
    And lastly, it’s insulting to the player, to say that he’s the next so and so. It takes their own personality out of the picture and portrays an image of someone else entirely. Now, I’m totally fine with comparing a play, or move, or style even, to players. For example; “ that Kobe shot reminded me of the time Jordan hit that game winner” … etc.
    But I’m just not a fan of this next Jordan, Next Kobe, next whoever nonsense. We’ve seen those guys play already, and have their time in the spotlight. I want to celebrate the next big names to inspire, in the sport. Not fixate on what was. Idk, obviously, just my opinion. To each their own. No wrong answer in this situation lol

  • @SomeonesNeighbor
    @SomeonesNeighbor 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What I dont like about Jordan comparisons is that they always compare the upcoming star to the already accomplished Legend, not when they were both rookies or just starting, but one as a rookie to the latter being a Legend already.
    People think that to be the next MJ, you have to be Championship caliber player right off the bat, overlooking the fact that MJ did not even get to the finals until his 7th Season.
    Let the newcomer grow up first, and if he is the second coming of Jordan, lets see how early can he win his first ring, and how many can he get after that, if Championship is your criteria that is.
    As for personality, Ant Man is already MJ-like, no doubt. Charisma and aura, all he needs is that Airness that MJ had, and he can be the legit 2nd coming of Jordan.
    For me, I can already see and understand why Ant Man is seen as the next MJ, Kobe or Wade, I can see it.

    Kerr don't know what he's talking about. He's the most overrated coach of all time because he took over a team that Mark Jackson built. A team that even made Luke Walton look like a great head coach. And now that his workhorses are aging he doesn't know what to do. Oh yeah, and then he drafts Wiseman after talking shyt about Ant. Instead of taking Melo or Haliburton.
    Just an overall trash coach that stumbled into a great situation

    He's no Mike not even close. Did this dude average 28 his rookie yr did this guy average 36 points a game and entire season was he already known as the best player in the league in just his second yr. I'm not even mentioning scoring titles MVPs defensive player of the year or championships because Mike was the best before the chips. He may have some remote similarities but not enough to even mention let alone say he's the next Mike. People old enough to remember know that they tried to do this before with Harold Miner called him baby Jordan and Harold failed epically.
