- Yes, Chandratal Lake is a part of Spiti and Lahaul district but the panchayats are different, and hence visiting this lake is allowed during this time.
Spiti is shut till 31st March 2021 but since the panchayats are different Chandratal and Kunzum Pass is open for all of us :)

Memories Revoked, I was on the same track roughly around 10 years back. Chacha Jee's dhaba is life savor point in this route. We spent a night there. He's very humble and funny, who never loose a chance to crack jokes. At that time he had a Sat Phone there. The Serenity of Chandrataal can't be described in words, thanks for the folktale, say hi to your brother.
Damn wish he had a sat phone now too haha! But Jio might come soon till here :)

@@Radhika_Nomllers hi, how far is the chandra taal parking from batal and how much time does it to reach there from batal? also, can a normal sedan drive up the terrain?
We took this exactly same route last year from Chhatru (end point of Hampta Pass Trek) To Chandrataal and back to Manali. And trust me these roads look much better now. We literally thought we won't be able to make it to Manali on the same day. We were like lets camp here somewhere and wait for roads to get cleared. We somehow made it back to Chhatru and spent one more night there and next day went to Manali. Thank you for bringing back all the memories. Very beautiful video.
And yes, Because you let us know, we came to know thats audio is without a mic. It doesn't seem so. Its like any other video of yours.
Hahaha I was not able to record the roads properly this time since my health deteriorated. Although Sahil did mention that right now the roads are much better haha

I did complete spiti (shimla -chitkul-kaza-chandratal-manali) in 2017. And again we planned for June 20 but due to covid19 we have cancelled the tour...Anyways just because of you i can virtually go to at least chandra tal.... Thanks Radhika....

And yes, I actually have a few friend in spiti whom I've meet way back in 2018 and had planned to visit again this year but this pandemic flopped my whole plan but, as per the information 4m friend back there they don't allow tourist this year .

Chacha Chachi Dhaba is one of the best dhabas to eat and stay. We have stayed there and at the complex across their dhaba as well couple of years back. These guys are so humble and adorable that i can go talking and never stop.
I watch videos of thousands of vloggers but never saw like your's.. your voice is perfect the info provided are perfect.. perfect drone shots overall perfect cinematography.. keep it up👍

Is it possible to drive on this road from Manali in a regular car like Dzire (2WD) or its only for 4WD vehicles? Planning to visit this weekend

I also been to the same place in 2017. Such a beautiful place, we did camping in chatru and had our lunch in chacha chachi dhaba. Chandratal lake is heaven on earth

The most thrilling experience in this road is pagal nala and specially in monsoon. People travelling by cab can't get that thrill. Only self driven ones know what it means. Many people make the mistake of thinking Chandrataal is in Spiti. Good that you pointed it out.

Hi Radhika, I’m really surprised how some people have commented on this video and criticised you for travelling during the Himalayas without even giving a thought to the tourism industry or even to the point that how people in big cities have faced depression during the pandemic and I personally see no harm intravelling if you do so responsibly. Places like Lahaul & Spiti receive very less no. of travellers and some of these locals depend on them for their bread.
Anyways, ignore the negativity. The video is awesome. I myself have travelled to Spiti some 4 yrs back but cudnt make it to Chandratal that time. Please share in which month u visited Chandertal as I’m also planning in October.

Carry diamox and camphor it helps. While returning from Kaza we also stayed at Chandrataal and I had a claustrophobic night at the camps. Though the service we received was awesome and unthinkable. Btw 1000000 love for sharing such an awesome blog

Ohhh ! It's our chandratal Lake .Origin of Chandra River which meets Bhaga and become Chandrabhaga which than turns into Chenab a major tributary of Sindhu .This Lake is 53 Km from my village a wonderful and sacred spot Most of foreigners and Locals take 17 km long mild trek which takes 1- 2 days and starts from batal to reach here .one can also go for Mulkila trek one of the most difficult trek but do not forget to take professional gears with you if you are willing to go and avoid solo trip to there ,Mulkilla trek will take 10 days at least .

@7:21 The district is Lahaul and Spiti. These are not two distinct districts. However, Lahaul and Spiti are both different subdivisions within 'Lahaul and Spiti', with Spiti having its HQ at Kaza.
Though falling administratively under single district, culturally, Lahaul and Spiti are far apart. Lahaul is closer to Ladhak and Spiti to Upper Kinnaur.
In fact Spiti and Upper Kinnaur were part of Purang-Guge Kingdom for a long time, while Lahaul remained intermittently under the rule of Kingdom of Ladakh.
Famous Ki monastery was built under patronage of rulers of Guge Kingdom.
Such are the intertwined destinies of these two regions and their people, that Guge Kingdom ceased to exist thanks to an invasion by a bellicose kingdom to its west, called Ladakh. This was around 1600s.

In some sense yes, but mostly it's same for entire district.
But I understand restrictions you might have faced presently in Spiti. In Spiti it is more of community awareness and local demand that has led to these restrictions. Or simply, over-cautious and over-enthusiastic locals have created this situation.
Yea respect their decision though. Hopefully next year things will be better :)
