    My memories goes back to seventies, early seventies, whenever I see these old machines. Being a diesel mechanic, I feel kind nostalgic of my youth!

      They don't make them like that anymore

    My father worked for them back in the 70s, I remember going there to pick him up when I was a kid, I loved that place. I believe they did a lot of highway work in PA. We lived in Ephrata PA.

    those 769 a models were actually owned by a hvy hwy contractor from Delaware.... James Julian inc. mount Joy enterprises were a subsidiary of Julian's. there were the last of 15 of so bought brand new in 1965 to build i95 through wilmington delaware. there were owned by Julian's till the owner passed and everything was sold at auction in 96 and 97. I know this because I was a road mechanic/ welder for them and worked on them here and there. they were mainly used for large earth moving jobs. and some rock in pa.

      Thanks for the info. Aside from the glass they seemed very solid.

    • @joelwelder4364
      @joelwelder4364 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      actually they are quite solid. to my knowledge after the 60s they mainly hogged dirt on highway construction jobs. especially in the 80s and 90s. alot of dirt were moved with those things with very little downtime. only real issues were loose steering and brakes. hardly ever needed welding or liners in the boxes. they just looked rougher than stucco bath tubs

    Thanks for posting. What an awesome collection of vintage machinery. Reminds me of some I saw working, or worked around a few years back.

    Wifes name and pic. Mark here. You've shown some really cool equipment. I liked the cranes as my grandfather operated a Bantam crane here in California. I just saw a Bantam piece, fantastic. I have a picture of him and my grandmother in it. Loved old equipment since I was a kid and your excellent videos show me stuff I'd never see out here. Peace

  • @deborahchesser7375
    @deborahchesser7375 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This equipment needs to be refurbished, there may be a time when equipment of any type
    is hard to find. This stuff is old gold and still viable. They aren’t easy to work on and they aren’t as fast or as comfortable, but when they are running right, they run for a long time. Even their historical value makes them worth keeping and or reviving.

    I grew up in Oxford Michigan, which at the time was the gravel capital of the world, we lived about 4 miles from town, the gravel pits were north of town, I remember in the summer time you could hear those Euclid's with the Detroit's just singing....That could have been a Model FK Mack rock truck? I was incorrect you went back * said it was a model LI?

      It does and it’s not pleasant lol. We should take good care of anything substantial because like you said, it’s only temporary. Too bad we can’t rebuild ourselves too.

    Was the large rubber tire Dozer a LeTuorna unit with the electric motor? They used alot of electric motors on LeTuorna equipment.
