Surviving global warming isn't the vision, Tony, it's the fear. The vision is to find win-win solutions with the environment, so we are more together than we EVER were apart. It's a much larger vision than anybody had in the past, which got us where we are, and it's a much more beautiful and royal vision than exploitation of the weak. Thinking survival is the vision is like thinking you have to marry and tolerate a man so you don't starve, even if he is awful and hurts you, or thinking, as a man, you have to marry a woman to be accepted in society, but she keeps making your life hell with her demands and her criticizms when you come home. Finding win-win situations is like having a spouse as a partner, a confident, a best friend, as someone who gives you strength when you are weak and who shows you joy that you have never had on your own or with your friends. THAT's what win-win between humans and nature is, too. Quite a few people have this vision already, including some very, very rich people. The conservatives in America and in most parts of the world just haven't understood that yet. They have a blind spot. It's like the RAS doesn't let them see it, because they are so afraid that they have to let go of something they value. And unfortunately, they don't see that all the riches are on the other side of that fear. It's what you teach when you teach people about dealing with change, isn't it?
You do know that us "conservatives" already have the clean energy tech built, right? Your heart is in the right place and you have a strong vision but you're progagandized if you don't know that, for example, the alberta oil sands produce cleaner oil than anywhere in the world (when our leftist politicians aren't turning then off, leaving our country impoverished).
