    That is the best looking clock radio you've ever shown! Sounds amazing for an am radio. Looks like new too! This would have been quite a luxury product in 1959!

      Thanks! I'd say it's the nicest clock radio I own, though I have a few more I'd like to show eventually.

    Beautiful!! Sounds like you've been looking for one of these in great condition for quite a time. Your patience paid off - you certainly found a gem. Interesting design, flipping it for a wall mounting. It's a definite Philco cousin to the famous Predicta, for sure.

      Thanks! I've actually had it for a few years, but I just fixed the clock and re-capped it recently. It did take a few years to find though. At the very least, the tilt feature is useful for displaying it on a low table or dresser.

      Thanks, I agree! There isn't really anything else like it, but it also doesn't look outrageous.

    Excellent sound quality for a transistor radio more than 60 years old!
    Your bed is an _excellent_ place to test AM radios to get good sound and demonstration of sensitivity without so much SMPS noise. Very good demo.

      Thanks, Rich! It (once again) ended up being a while, so I figured I should come back with something good.

      I'm not sure, I couldn't find a price for it, just a mention in Billboard magazine saying it had been released in 1959.
      This one came from eBay, like most of the items in my collection.

    Very classy radio indeed, and in beautiful condition. How are you picking up music on AM radio? There hasn’t been any music on AM around here in 30 years!

    • @sterlinsilver
      @sterlinsilver 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Theres still a few channels here and there. My AM radios pick up "zoomer radio" from Ontario. It has all sorts of cool 1960s and 1970s music. They also have big band Sunday nights

    • @twobrokeguyz1214
      @twobrokeguyz1214 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree! That’s a shit ton of channels for AM!

    • @50sTransistorRadios
      @50sTransistorRadios  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! There a few AM stations in my general area that play some music on weekends at least, but there really isn't much music on AM in general.

      @@twobrokeguyz1214 With a good radio, and away from interference, you can pick up tons of stations at night, because AM has a long range.

    Ain't those gorgeous? Mine took FOREVER to clean, but it was worth it. Do you have the clock mechanism schematics? I have them.

    • @50sTransistorRadios
      @50sTransistorRadios  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are indeed! This one was in excellent shape, and clean too. I don't think it got used much, unlike the white one I had. I don't have those schematics, would you mind sending me them?
